    Customer support is the worst!!

    Got camera, and hooked up easily to wifi on first try. It took a picture. The MEshare app is not at all user friendly and one is unable to find out how to control the camera. Then the camera said it went offline. Zmodo website was totally useless. Deleted camera and tried to reconnect. Tried numerous times, would not reconnect. Tried calling customer support number numerous times, never an answer. Sent an email, there was no response. Went to chat. After a couple of responses, she tells me to email them. I said that did not work, she asks for a number on back of the camera, I give her the number, she asks for a different number, which I give her, which is still the wrong number, and she asks for a number and words that do not exist on the camera and after I tell her they do not exist, the chat session states that Winnie Z. is typing, but she has obviously left and there is no response for more than 1 hour, even though my messages appear in the chat session. Since the camera connected and then would not reconnect, I would say the camera is somewhat flaky and the support is the worst. Do not buy Zmodo.

      The Meshare app is best for some of our other more complicated security camera kits but the best smart phone app for this product is simply called "Zmodo" and is a free download. There is not a way to "control" the camera as it does not move or zoom, which is why it is priced so low. We have a great technical support staff at 217-903-5037. This is the correct number and we're available Mon-Fri from 8am-8pm CST. We're confident we can troubleshoot your connection issue over the phone if you give us a call.

    I thought it was a great buy

    I was looking for a small video camera to use at home. I found this one online and read the reviews and thought it was great for the price. It was pretty easy to set up and download the mobile app. It worked great the first two days I used it, the picture quality was really amazing, but then the problems started. On the third day I opened the app to check on my house everything seemed fine, I went back to check it a few minutes later and my device was offline. I tried to reconnect multiple times with no luck, but once I got home I could connect. Since then I can only connect while I'm at my house, which pretty much defeats the purpose of this camera. I did a little research with Zmodo community forums, and found that this problem is a very wide spread issue. I tried to email and instant chat with Zmodo with no response, which seemed to be the case for the other couple thousand people that had the same issue.

    Not worth the hassle and unreliable

    As a former professional installer of security systems and cameras I had hope. I read many reviews and figured I would try it out. I gave it a few days of use before I abandoned all hope. The camera's built in speaker is worthless, it only wispers. Unless you are are sitting in a silent room right beside it, you can't hear it. The app is awful, once I setup the camera the app had to be uninstalled and reinstalled for it to work. The app defaults the camera quality to VGA, everytime you have to hit the LD button to get 720p. The motion detection is a joke. I've tried this on both android and an iPhone. The only notifications that I got were only inside the app, no blinking lights, vibrate, or beeps. Connectivity is intermittent, I got messages like timed out and unable to connect to the server. Sometimes I could fix it by shutting down the app or uninstalling it. I shouldn't have to restart or reboot anything. The app is by far the worst part of this setup, even the two way talk worked intermittently. The camera stays on unless you set timers (modes) in the app. When the camera goes into night vision mode you can hear a loud click. It sounds like something a cheap kids toy would make. Technology has come a long way in the last few years, apparently Zmodo was left behind.

      The audio volume can be adjusted via the app.

      The device requires certain internet speed so that the default quality is LD.

      The app will distinguish between two types of events: 

      1) Major motion event. Major motion events occur when motion is detected after a prolonged period without motion (at least 25 minutes). Whenever a major motion event is detected, you will receive an alert on your smartphone, and your device will record a 10 second clip and save a record of the event in the Zmodo app. 

      2)Minor motion event. Minor motion events occur when motion is detected within a short period of time following another motion event (within 20 minutes of the last motion event) after at least 3 minutes without motion. For example, if motion is detected 7 minutes after a major motion event was detected, it will be registered as a minor motion event. However, if motion is detected within 3 minutes of any motion event (major or minor), it will not be registered as a motion event. Whenever a minor motion event is detected, you will not receive an alert on your smartphone, but your device will record a 5 second video clip and save a record of the event in the Zmodo app for you to review at any time. This will make sure that you still have a record of all motion events without receiving unnecessary alerts on your phone.

    Good camera for the price

    Small camera. Decent wide angle. Infrared is decent but there is a loud click sound when it turns on, which is odd. Image is good, it starts in low quality but can be switched to 720p with a toggle in the app. Setup wasnt the easiest, had difficulty connecting to wifi. I discovered that the wifi password cannot be longer than 20 characters for it to connect. My password was way longer but I created a new password for the network and connected fine afterwards. Audio isnt great and the speaker on the camera is small so it isnt that loud but its good enough to hear and speak with someone through it. Once setup, it does save images to your phone for review when it detects noise or motion. Battery drain on your phone from the app can be an issue but I just turn off push alerts and notifications within the app if it isnt necessary.

    My camera is less than 1 day old. 1st perceptions: The instructional manual is in super tiny print, making it challenging to read without a magnifying glass. Had some challenges on set up with the App, so I contacted Zmodo via a phone number, but after sitting on hold for 1 hour and still in que, I hung up. Meanwhile, I did the chat link on their web site...a total nightmare to say the least...between every post of the chat operator, it was a 3 to 5 minute respond time AND it was as is if they did not read my questions or situation (per their response) and they never helped one bit, so after 40 minutes of that. At this point, I almost returned the camera. Eventually, on my own and various attempts, was able to finally get the camera set up. The lights blink green and blue during set up process. I used the Zmodo app, but am attempting to set up the MEShare App also (since it was mentioned on an Amazon review). With all this being said, for the price and what I need it to do, it will suit my needs for now. ...but slightly frustrating from a tech assistance point of view.

    I bought this camera depsite the reviews that said there were internet connectivity issues, since I'm more technologically inclined than most. It was tiny, just like I wanted, but would not connect to the internet. I changed all of my settings, for a slower mode and channel, and it would still not connect. You could try it if you're operating on speeds less than 25 Mbps, otherwise I wouldn't bother or you'll run into similar issues most likely. I attempted to contact Customer Support, couldn't get them over the phone, and the response I got via email was in some form of Asian writing (couldn't tell you which language for certain), but I couldn't read it, so it didn't help me at all. I returned it, and Best Buy refunded me. I instead got the EZVIZ 1080p and love them! I would recommend them instead for something just as small but much better quality!

    This is an excellent basic camera. Setup is quick and easy with the meShare app. Video quality is very good, although less so on night vision, which is probably to be expected. At first I thought I had a problem when the camera would regularly go off line. After a call to Zmodo customer support, I learned it's not best to use an extension cord to power the camera, as I did while trying different camera locations . Apparently the camera is sensitive to slight variations in voltage that can occur with an extension cord, power strip, or surge protector. After plugging directly into a receptacle, no problems.

    I've had my Zmodo for about a year and a half. The only trouble I ever have with it is when my cable internet goes out - sometimes I have to go thru many steps to get it back up and running. Not camera's fault, cables fault. I went to N Ireland this summer and as long as I was on Wi-Fi I could use my Zmodo app on my phone to talk to my husband in the states to tell him to put his laptop camera on so we could video chat. (Seeing how there was a 5 hour time difference I like that my app alerts me when the camera sees movement - it meant hubby was home!) I love, love, love my Zmodo camera! Wish they made one for outdoors - I don't like the doorbell one, I want a regular camera like the one I have in the house. I'd say I gotta good buy with this one!
