Yes. It took me a couple hours on the phone with Netgear customer service in India. But we eventually figured out that you have to change the extender's network name to the exact same name as your main unit's network name. You can't do it using the app though. You have to do it through the website listed in your paperwork. It works great for me now. I hope you get it sorted out.
