Great Chromebook. Great laptop.

For people who understand the Chromebook's unique characteristics, the Acer 15 Chromebook is the cat's pajamas. Most Chromebooks feature a 13.3-in. screen, but the Acer offers a sizeable alternative with its 15.6-in. offering. Its full HD clarity is enhanced by a matte finish that reduces glare. The two large speakers--visible on either side of the keyboard offer a full, rich sound--way beyond what you'd expect from a sub-300 dollar laptop.
The processor is gutsy enough to keep things moving along briskly. Streaming HD content is a breeze. I experienced full motion with little to no buffering and only rare minor stuttering.
It's easy to read on. Magazines are glorious with crisp graphics. Text is crisp and easy to read.
Unless you've been doing the homework, you're not going to understand a Chromebooks full capability--and the parameters in which it operates.
Take a look. Save some dough. You'll be glad you did it.

Exactly what I wanted!

I have had this Chrome book for about a month now, and I love it! I was looking for something that would access the internet quickly, that had a keyboard, and a decent sized screen. The screen is certainly big and clear. This fits in my lap just fine for a big screen laptop. It boots up in about 7 seconds, and then I can go to Facebook, Netflix, youtube, etc. I set up Spotify, hooked the laptop to my receiver, and now I have almost unlimited music!
This is a chromebook, not a full laptop, but I didn't want the longer boot time and need for anti-virus. I wasn't totally sure I would like this when I got it, but I use it every day, and am more than happy.
Pros: Price, fast boot, nice size screen, keyboard, no need for anti-virus software.
Cons: None that I have noticed.

An excellent lightweight computer

I bought this in the US because, in Canada, we have a very small selection of Chromebooks available here. I also had to call Best Buy, to finish my on-line order because their order system would not not accept my address.
I chose this particular model because of the value for the hardware. It has a full 1080p HD screen and 4Gb of RAM (working memory), so more browser tabs can be open at once. The 16Gb of SSD storage is reasonable and, apparently, it can be replaced with a bigger one, with some fiddling.
This is my first Chromebook, so I am getting used to its limitations. However, I got a Google Voice number while in the US (it works outside of the US), so I'm happy. The ability to add basic utilities to Chrome, such as an editor or Hangouts, makes the platform useful day-to-day. Web browsing, banking, e-mail, all work as expected.
I would highly recommend a Chromebook to anyone who does the majority of their computer time on the web. This particular model has a great big screen if you want to use it for watching movies while travelling, etc., too.
The sale price of $250US sealed the deal.

Great Chromebook, great price

I recently bought this Chromebook after much research. It was between this one and the Toshiba Chromebook 2. I bought a Chromebook primarily to use for college and at home (web surfing, Youtube, Netflix). I hesitated about buying this one at first because of the size of the screen, I wanted something a tad smaller. Now that I have it home and have used it a bit, I'm glad I got the bigger screen. It's not a heavy laptop, and fits nicely on my lap.
The biggest reason I chose this one over the Toshiba was the fact this one has a faster processor, and that really makes a difference. This Chromebook is fast. It boots fast, everything loads fast, and it has a lot of memory.
Another thing to consider is the price. This is an excellent machine and the price can't be beat. Literally, Best Buy offers the best price on this Chromebook. Other retailers want $100+ more. So if you are looking for a Chromebook that won't disappoint, look no further.

Bang for the buck!!

I needed a laptop but can't really afford a Mac right now, or a Windows laptop that I'd actually want. Screen quality is one of the biggest factors to me, and the cheaper laptops tend to have really bad screens. I've used Chromebooks before and like them, but again a lot of them have bad screens.
The screen on this computer is awesome. 15.6" with Full HD. I don't know if this is actually an IPS screen but the viewing angles are fantastic, and it's non-glare. This screen at this price is just amazing.
The specs are great. I wish it had more on-board storage but I always wish that unless the computer has a 1TB hard drive. My only real con regarding this laptop - and this is obviously a very subjective thing - is that I feel it is kind of ugly. They sell other colors (at least black) but not in the "consumer" model sold at Best Buy. But again, that's subjective and many people will like the look.

Couldn't Be Happier

I was worried that an Intel Celeron processor wouldn't be fast enough because I've heard how much better i3 Core (and up) processors are from several people. However, this computer had all the other features I wanted (4GB Ram, SSD, 2 USB ports one of which is USB 3, SD card slot, huge full HD display screen, long battery life, plus the bonuses of a very wide angle of tilt on the screen and large top mounted speakers for better sound) at a great price so I had to test it out before I blew it off. I surfed the web for about 30 minutes opening up as many tabs as I could and going as fast as I could. It kept up so I decided to add on five more tabs of websites I knew were data heavy and one of which would slow down most computers. Even with these five open plus ten others I had previously opened it still worked fine, so I popped over to YouTube and played a video. With that going I started bouncing around the tabs and it never showed a problem with keeping up once. I decided to do one last test. I closed everything and opened a YouTube video. With that one still playing I opened another, and with that one playing I opened another, and so on. I didn't notice the computer slow down at all until I opened the tenth video, which it just couldn't quite keep up with although they all still played. With nine open, however, there was no lagging or buffering at all even when I bounced between tabs. I was sold! I'm not a gamer, so I have no idea how this would work for a gamer. However, for myself, I have never had a single issue with speed and I couldn't be happier. I'm thrilled I saved my money and didn't buy a faster processor which it turns out I didn't need anyway!

I am in LOVE with this ACER Laptop
Posted by: Kalee from: on
I do not consider myself techonologically savvy- however I love to use the what I think is the best part of computer technology:. It is important to me that I have ready access to important information for my career (teaching) as well as stay in touch with my social communities. This excellent system allows me to use my Chrome accounts to access everything that I need in one or two steps. In addition, it is a lovely sturdy white color with a pleasing texture to the surface. The keyboard is easier to use than my my bulky home computer's and is just as friendly. better. The Acer Chromebook 15 that I purchased has a set of hardy speakers on each side of the keyboard! They give off the perfect volume and a quality that is good enough to dance with or to sing along. LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

Best Bang For The Buck

Chromebooks, (in general), have become my full time "go to" laptop. I've owned four different ones over the past 2 years and I've never regretted my decision for a second. Why so many so soon ? And why this 15" Acer in particular ?? Basically, I started out with an 11" screen size Acer rebuilt unit. But as soon as I realized how much I could do with it, I gave the tiny one to the grand kids and got a 13" screen size Toshiba. Still too small a screen for my old eyes, so I got a 14" HP Chromebook and wore it out !! This 15" Acer with it's HD screen is wonderful for older eyes. I believe in Chromebooks so much, I've even begun teaching community classes on how to use a Chromebook as a retirement project !!

For the Parents
Posted by: Stewblock from: on
I bought this as a gift for my parents as their old HP Pavilion finally quit working and since day 1, they have loved it. They were a bit wary switching from a full laptop to a Chromebook, but I assured them that everything they could do on a laptop they could do on a Chromebook. I had a lot of luck with Acer in the past (Nexus 7 and a laptop) and this is the one I decided on for them. As soon as they booted it up, it was quick, easy, and painless for them to be up and running. As most everything they did was online over a browser, they are now a month into the Chromebook and they don't miss a laptop a single bit.

I've had this Chromebook for a few days now and I have to say that it's a very impressive machine. Excellent sound quality partnered with a full HD screen, this Chromebook is a media delight. The OS itself has a few limitations such as not supporting Silverlight, also printing can only be done if you have a wireless Cloud type printer. I would have hoped that Android games would have some support but they are not compatible either.
The keyboard works well, they keys feel firm and have a good feel but the mouse pad is clunky and doesn't have a right click feature. I also purchased a bluetooth mouse and right clicking on that brings up other options. The 16GB SSD is just pure lighting quick but if you need extra storage, I would suggest an external USB hard drive.
This Chromebook is far from perfect but you would probably have to spend $1000 to get the equivalent performance and features out of a Windows 10 machine. So with the money you save, you can buy an external hard drive and Cloud based printer (if needed) and still have enough money left over to buy another Chromebook.
