Very good laptop for a bargain price.

I was looking for a laptop with a lower price that could give me the necessary items like web-surfing, run everyday needed program software without being bogged down. It has the new faster 3.0 USB jacks for faster printing and accessory usage. This Acer Aspire is truly a great laptop to have if you don't need the higher end, resource hogging business laptop.
Also, Acer is a high quality, good priced, everyday use of a computer manufacturer. I will be purchasing other Acer laptops for members of my family in the near future. You can't go wrong with the Acer Aspire model laptop.

Excellent value, great full size laptop!
Posted by: Hernando09 from: Huntington, WV on
This is an amazing laptop! It had everything that we needed, and some of the great things are: Full size keyboard, Expandable RAM, not a lot of bloat ware, fast, and plays DVD and streaming video perfectly.
For us the best feature was that it came with Windows 7! Many of the new PC's come with the disastrous and much maligned Windows 8.
The only disappointment was that it didn't come with a recovery CD, you have to make it yourself.

Suits it's purpose

Needed a Windows 7 computer for a job I work from home. They are nor easy to come by these days. Originally got the refurbished version of this computer but had a charging issue the first day. Returned it and ordered this computer. I have an HP with the same specs that has just started to run slow after 4 years but it's still faster than this computer. Takes forever to open just a browser windows and load a page.

Perfect IF no need for latest operating system
Posted by: Snowdancer from: on
When my 88-year-old mother's six-year-old Toshiba laptop, with Windows 7 and Office 2010, failed two months ago, I knew she would in no way be able to survive a move to Windows 10 and Office 2016. I thought for sure I would have to find another used replacement laptop,
I'm SO glad that I thought about looking on Best Buy's website first. Much to my surprise, BB was selling a brand new, 17-inch Acer featuring Windows 7, and was even willing to sell a Geek Squad extended service contract on it despite its obsolete operating system.
We were able to set up Windows 7 and Office 2010 so that the few programs Mom does use, like Outlook, look and act just like they did on her old Toshiba, and we were able to move all of her pictures and documents over.
Now she is happy as a clam knowing that she doesn't have to fret about learning a significantly different operating system, and that she has a service-protected laptop that will likely last as long as she wants to/can use it.
I am very grateful that a reliable store like BB was willing to sell a new computer with an outdated operating system under extended warranty, so that I could orchestrate a smooth transition for Mom.
FYI, I am checking YES in terms of recommending this laptop, but it is really only appropriate for individuals who have no need or desire to keep up with rapidly changing computer technology. (I am 61 and am reticently, haltingly learning Windows 10 and Office 365 on my new notebook, because I need to do so for my work...)

This computer does what I expected.

This computer fills my requirements. I wanted something to check email and do searches. I needed a dvd/cd player/recorder and everything works as expected. The color and pictures are amazing. The only thing missing is the back light on the keyboard but I knew that was not included on this laptop. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Exactly what I was looking for

Just set it up a couple hours ago, so far it's perfect for me. I wanted to replace my Toshiba with Windows Vista that died.I hated Windows 10 so when I found out Windows 7 was still available I rushed out to get it.This laptop is almost just like my old one, setup only took a few minutes and there is no learning curve, I had a bad moment when the touch pad stopped working but I restarted it and all seems fine now The only thing it doesn't have is picture editing, I guess I will have to download something.for that. If you are old school like me and don't want to learn alot of new stuff and mess around with apps, this is for you. Nice big screen, sturdy design, great keyboard. Best Buy was very good about my exchange (I had bought a HP with Win 10 ...hated it) They didn't have this one in the store but they ordered it for me.I'm only rating it a 4 because of the lack of picture editing but so far it's exactly what I wanted.

Good value for the money spent

So far I have enjoyed the laptop. Found it to easy to set-up. Easy to automatically to install updates. It found my wireless router/modem and connected to the internet without any problems whats so ever. It found my other computer (desktop) and setup to connect without any problems.
Very happy with the computer and very happy with Best Buy for their ease to locate and buy my laptop.

Great basic computer for PPT and word processing.
Posted by: Pastor13 from: Bayfield, WI on
Great value, works well for all basic functions. I haven't tried the camera yet, but plan to use it for skype as well as presentations. Sound quality is much better than I expected for the price. I recently purchased a different brand for my wife, but I wish I had purchased this one for her instead.

I have had this computer for a few days and I must say I am impressed so far. The computer setup was simple and easy my 6 year old could have done it. The mouse is sensitive and I don't like where the power cable plugs in, the plug is located on the right side of the laptop I would rather have it plug in from the left. I have not tried out the bluetooth capability yet, once I try it out I will post again. Overall I am pleased with the laptop, for the price and the features I think it is a good laptop and great deal.

Very good computer for the price

Had an older Acer desktop years ago. When it finally went, I decided to get a laptop. Gone thru 2 Toshibas and an HP, and wanted to try an Acer. Have been very happy with my Aspire 17.3 . It's running Windows 7, which is a plus for me. 4GB memory and 500GB hard drive is more than plenty for the average user. Plenty of room for music and photos. Highly recommend this computer to anyone looking for great setup on a budget.
