Very Good 2 in 1 Posted by: from: on Well I've only had this laptop for about a week. But here's a quick run down. Unboxing was fast and easy. Setup and surfing the net in under 15 minutes. Pros. *I love the look and feel of this laptop. Very thin but feels sturdy! *The monitor has great color that really pops when watching 4K movies. *Never got hotter than 32C or 89.6 degrees. So it can stay on your lap at all times. Unlike some of my older ones. *More RAM than most people will need. This makes running multiple app's a breeze. *Good Battery life. *The built in wifi was more than capable of handling my 100M service. *Touchscreen is very responsive Cons -When logged on to my Surveillance Station the CPU is at 100% but RAM only at 50%. This made trying to my view my security almost useless. So for me I would only need a bigger CPU and would be happy. So this would not be good for gamer's. All in all this is a very good laptop and I would recommend it to friends and family. Would be great for college or work.

Exactly what I was looking for... Posted by: from: on Only had this for several days at the moment, but I'm completely satisfied at this time (we'll see how it goes in the long haul). I was looking for a family workhorse between $500-$700, 2-in-1 touchscreen, 1080p, 8GB ram and a 1TB hard drive. Found four at Best Buy...one across town had all four so away I went... The other three were ok, but they didn't have this one on the floor as they were waiting for the old model to sell out first. Somehow my wife convinced them to pull one out and fire it up...I knew after a few minutes that this was the one. This has the newer, faster ram...speakers sound better than any other laptop I've tried (for<$1000)...screen looks great...keypad has a large "0" like my split keyboard, so hitting with my thumb still works (some others have a small "0" buried between some keys)...and the keyboard is backlit. The only thing it's missing is the DVD/CD drive...but none of the four had one. An external USB drive will still work out...and since it had the most USB ports (4), it'll be easy to connect along with my wireless mouse, backup drive, etc. Hands down, I think this computer is better than anything else available around this price range. If you're looking for something similar, at least track one of these down to take a look for yourself...

Overall Love it! Posted by: from: on Love it! normally I'm sceptical about Acer products but this laptop hit the mark. The IPS screen delivers amazing picture clarity and color reproduction. The processor is super fast and has no issues with multitasking. I am able to play four HD movies simultaneously with absolutely no lag. The battery can easily last me a full day and the build quality is top notch. The only cons I have, which aren't really cons is that it's a little heavy but that can be expected with a 15-inch laptop. The power cable connector is a little small, leaving me worried that it might break and finally the hard drive is quiet and fast. However, I still wish it was an SSD. Overall I would buy this again.

Seems Like An Excellent Computer Posted by: from: staten island on I usually don't review a product after owning it for a week but this machine seems like a great buy for the price with features only seen on much more expensive machines. a lighted keyboard, very thin design, etc. I was concerned how I was gonna hook up my printer since it has no disc drive but it practically attached itself when it sniffed out my network. it took less time than when I did it by disc on my previous machine. I come from a win7 machine and getting used to win10 was relatively easy to my surprise. there are still things that my win7 machine did that I haven't figured how to do on this machine so I bought win10 for dummies. I wanted an SSD but for the price I can't complain. I even got $150 off for a student discount. based upon the reviews here i'm pretty certain I made a good choice. I gave it 4 stars only for being new and not knowing all it's potential. i'm sure i'll give it 5 stars once i'm more familiar with it.

Great equipment! Posted by: from: on I'm a software developer of 15 years. I was looking for a personal laptop with an i5 processor, 8 Gb memory, decent size hard drive that didn't have to be SSD. I really wanted a lighted keyboard, but didn't hold out much hope for that after reading reviews stating only higher-end laptops sported this feature. This unit was highly recommended by the Best Buy salesman since it met my requirements and also had the touch/flip screen, AND the lighted keyboard. The unit is very responsive, and as a very impatient computer user, I really appreciate that. It runs almost as quick as my Dell Latitude with the same specs at my job. The display is actually quite incredible, very colorful, very deep (almost 3D). In short I am very satisfied with my purchase. This is my first Acer, and it may not be my last!

Unacceptably fragile laptop Posted by: from: on I had this laptop for a little over three weeks when a large crack appeared in the screen. I never dropped the laptop and hardly ever moved it. When I took it to Best Buy the Geek Squad service tech said the crack looked like it may have started from a hairline crack that was there all along. However, another service tech later told me that the manufacturer would not cover a replacement screen through the warranty. I was told the total repair cost would be as much as a new machine. The store manager told me these screens can break easily from just opening and closing. She also said there was nothing she could do for me. This laptop is designed to also be usable as a tablet so the screen is intended to be touched. A laptop this fragile is unacceptable.

Best Laptop I've Had Posted by: from: on I got this laptop as an upgrade when my old one got a virus. I spent hours looking online and found a computer I wanted, but when I went to the store, it wasn't there. So I had to spend a few more hours looking in store. This laptop was more than I wanted to pay, but when I tested it out, I knew I wouldn't be happy with anything else. It has a full HD 1080p touch screen, an Intel i5 core, and everything on my requirements list. The keyboard is backlit, the battery life is long, it has a decent webcam. I've had it for a few weeks now, and I don't use it every day, but when I do, I never have any problems. It's fast and powerful and everything looks great on the HD screen.

Great laptop, but a couple of notable flaws Posted by: from: Phoenix, AZ on After using this laptop for a full week, I've decided to use it as my go-to Windows laptop for traveling and productivity. It's a great size and is packed with great features for its price. However, in order for it to meet my needs, I had to do a bit of tweaking. Here's my take. GOOD: - Nice design. With its brushed metal finish and thin form factor, this is a premium-looking laptop that will stand out alongside others in this price range. - Generous selection of ports. There are 3 USB ports, a USB 3.1 port, HDMI, and an SD card slot. This should be more than enough for most users. - Good performance. With an i5 processor and 8GB of RAM, there should be enough power here for any home or office scenario. Gamers and graphic designers should look elsewhere. - Gorgeous screen. It's an IPS panel, so viewing angles are great and colors are rich. There a bit of light bleed around the edges, but it's only noticeable on pure-black screens. - 2-in-1 functionality is nice. The screen flips back seamlessly and the touch screen is very responsive. COULD BE BETTER: - Battery life. I struggle to get much more than 5 hours on a single charge. - Loud fan. Seems to kick on a little too frequently for my tastes. When you flip the laptop into tablet mode, the fan makes an audible clicking sound when the keyboard is upside down. - Cramped keyboard. It's nice that a number pad is included on the right side, but it seems to have made all of the other keys a little too narrow. It's certainly usable, but it's not the most comfortable laptop keyboard. - Awkward positioning of power and volume buttons. They're on the right side of the laptop and are rather hard to press. - The base is a little wobbly when the screen is tilted too far back. The left-hand corner in particluar doesn't seem to stay flush against a desk after the screen reaches a certain angle. BAD: - Tons of bloatware is included by default, such as McAfee and silly games that want you to pay for the full versions. Acer's "cloud" software is also included, and you'll be pestered to sign up for an Acer account as soon as you start the computer. Just ignore and uninstall all of this software. - The hard drive is a sluggish 5,400-rpm mechanical drive, and it really struggles to keep up with most tasks. Maybe I'm jaded by my other laptop with a solid state drive (SSD), but I simply couldn't handle the slow drive included with this laptop. The first thing I did was pop off the bottom cover and replace the hard drive with an SSD. OVERALL This is a great laptop for the price, but it needs a few tweaks if you want to turn it into a real workhorse. The first thing any buyer should do is replace the mechanical hard drive with an SSD and reinstall a clean copy of Windows 10 without the Acer bloatware. Once that's done, you're left with a sleek-looking laptop with ample power and versatility. Just be aware of the odd quirks such as a cramped keyboard, average battery life, and fan noise.

You'll love this laptop! Posted by: from: on Where do I even begin? This device has so many great features that I fear I won't be able to mention them all. I'll start with the looks. The brushed metal finish looks amazing! It is also nice to touch. I personally think this laptop looks and feels like a premium, sturdy device. The screen flips a full 360° from regular laptop mode, to tent mode, to presentation mode and all the way to tablet mode. It is very versatile! It has a backlight under the keyboard so seeing the keys in low light condition is a breeze. The keyboard also has a full number pad too! The high definition touchscreen works flawlessly and seems to be completely accurate. I watched high definition video footage and I was amazed at the clarity! This laptop has an Intel Core i5 processor and 1 TB of storage space. It is PLENTY fast enough to handle lots of tasks all at once. It comes preloaded with windows 10 software as well. One of the features I was most amazed with is the battery life! This battery far exceeds any other battery in laptops I have purchased in the past. The dolby speakers sound awesome too! The screen has a webcam built into it however i typically do not use one so i never found the opportunity to test it out. It does NOT come with a disc drive however that is really not needed anymore and it is certainly not a deal breaker in my opinion. If you see this device in a store and think it is a premium device, that's because it is! Buy it! You won't regret it!

Problems are software-related Posted by: from: on Pros: keyboard has a solid feel and accurate response. Very fast start-up. Screen is great. Price was very good. Cons: Software. Windows 10 does not play nice. Pre-installed anti-virus is hard to remove. Running Kaspersky crashes computer. Not happy that connector for projectors are no longer included, the ethernet connector is gone and the CD/DVD disk drive is gone. Sure, there are more USB ports. You need all these to connect the dongle for a projector, ethernet, and DVD drive. There goes those USB ports. No place for the wireless mouse or keyboard to plugin unless I purchase a USB strip. Many more accessories to have to purchase.
