Too much of a headache Posted by: from: on The a50 wireless headset sounds excellent in quality but that does not make up for the problems with the actual product. I made sure all the firmware was up to date when trying to trouble shoot. I was using this headset with a PC. The headset has an issue where if the microphone picks up any noise it creates a small buzzing/hissing noise in the right ear cup. This appears to be a known issue with this headset because I saw the issue all over the internet. There appeared to be no solution to this issue and this is something that I could not deal with personally. Also the headset froze on me while I was trouble shooting it and become unresponsive and no longer worked with the audio/microphone. I put the headset and other things back into the box and it'll be going back to Best Buy. If the hissing issue was resolved I would recommend these. but with this issue I would absolutely not recommend these especially because they are 300$.

Frustrating headset Posted by: from: Cincinnati on I did a lot of research before buying these and unfortunately I am very disappointed in them. If your playstation is turned on you can not turn the headset off. If you want to listen to the sound through your TV it is still coming out the headset. They have way too much bass, everything sounds bassy from games to music to chat. The battery life is terrible and if you want to use them for in game chat forget about being able to hear the other player crisply. The other players say the mic sounds terrible. The only good thing is if your playing a game without wanting to do in game chat. I had the playstation golds that I returned to get these. The golds are a much better all round headset. For $299 I would expect so much more. The easiest way to waste $299 is to buy these. There are better headsets much cheaper. I'm buying another set of Playstation golds and these are going to become and expensive paper weight.

Best headset available for PS4! Posted by: from: on I have owned a number of different headsets ranging from Triton to Turtle Beach to Astro. Out of those three the Astro brand has been the best. I have had the A40s the A40 wireless and the A50s. I just upgraded to the all-new A50 wireless headset specifically designed for PlayStation 4 and I'm absolutely blown away! I didn't think it was possible but the new A50s sound even better than the old A50s! The sound is incredibly clear and crisp. The 5.8 Wireless is hands down the best wireless connectivity you can get for a headset. No interference of any kind. Astro even upgraded the comfort of the headset making them a little lighter and more comfortable than the older A50s. I highly recommend these to anyone looking for the best possible headset for PlayStation 4 but who also isn't worried about spending a lot for a high quality headset.

Good Sound, but Won't Stay Connected Posted by: from: on I purchased these headphones instead of the A40s because I liked the idea of wireless connectivity. I purchased the PS4 version of the headset and then purchased the accessory cable that allowed it to connect to the XBox One as well. The headphones fit great, and the sound was great, but I got a lot of input lag, and I couldn't get them to stay consistently connected on my network. I'd purchased the Geek Squad warranty, so I did one exchange, and it didn't take long before I had the exact same issues with the new pair, so I just took them back and swapped them out for the A40s, which have worked great for me. Given the fact I had the exact same connectivity issues with both sets of A50s, maybe it was my network, but I have a pretty high-end router and a high-speed connection, so I don't know for sure. I'd certainly recommend the A50s in terms of the sound and features, but for me, all the connectivity issues made them not worth the trouble!

No support, do not buy Posted by: from: on I bought these headphones and right away noticed an extremely low volume high pitched buzz in the right ear speaker, in troubleshooting I thought I got it fixed. Occasionally it would return, but the overall headphones were good so I ignored it. Over time it's gotten to the point where it's louder than holding a tuning fork up to your ear. In searching online I found that it's due to the microphone causing feedback as the transmitter is up against the speaker. In contacting Astro Gaming about the issue they told me they know about it, but it's a non-issue and that I shouldn't notice the buzz while audio is playing. 1) I shouldn't have to drown out one noise with another 2) At this point the high pitched whine/buzz is so loud it I can hear it even while playing music or listening to a movie at max volume. So I contacted Astro Gaming again re-iterating my problems and that we need a solution and they gave me the generic answer that if it's within 30-days of purchase they will issue me a refund for the item if I send it back to them, or I can send it into them under warranty, but get this, the person actually said that if I do send it in under warranty they'll just verify that it's the standard known non-issue buzz due to microphone feedback and then send it back. I will not be buying Astro Gaming equipment anymore nor will I be recommending their products to anyone.

The best wireless gaming headset for PS4/PC Posted by: from: on Use these for both gaming on my PS4 and PC and I have been blown away. For strictly gaming, this is one of the best, if not the best, headset money can buy. I had logitech G930's and these blow them out of the water. What I really love is they operate on a higher frequency (5.8ghz) vs the standard 2.4ghz that most wireless headsets, including my G930's, operated on. The 2.4ghz is congested and noisy band since most routers, babe monitors, wireless headsets, Bluetooth headsets, cordless phones, etc operate on that frequency. That led to several headset sync issues on my g930's which was utterly annoying. Of course your location has a lot to do with it, but if you have neighbors chances are their router, among other devices, are transmitting on the 2.4 frequency. With these astros I have not had one single drop off and the audio quality is simply unparalleled!

Great Sound ! ! ! Posted by: from: on I love this headset. A few days after I bought it, I found out a new version was coming out. I was going to return the headset but liked it so much I chose to keep it. The sound quality is great and there are 3 presets. The chat is nice and clear and my friends say it sounds good on their end too. I can wear this headset for hours without any discomfort. The ear cups and the crown are made of foam and covered with a velvet like fabric. The headset is solid but not too heavy. I bought a 4 way toslink switch and I can use the headset with my other devices.

The best that you can buy. Period. Posted by: from: on This product features a 7.1 surround system that is absolutely top notch. Extremely comfortable system that can be worn for hours of gameplay. Battery life charge is superb with easily 10+ hours of battery life. Fits perfect and comfortably with prescription glasses. After an easy firmware update, the system is easy to install and set up. This is absolutely the best system on the market.

Sounds great. Posted by: from: on When my Sony Gold headset broke (something that happens often I hear) I decided to get something better. People online kept asking me if I bought a new headset. My old one made me sound much more muffled. The mic is able to do the job with much greater quality. Functionally it's really easy. though it would be nice if it could get power from somewhere other than the front of my PS4. I guess any powered USB would work. The optical digital out audio cable from the controller box requires an input to whatever is going to handle your sound. Works perfectly with the PS4. Also, download the updater application and update the firmware before you even try to use it. It did not work until I read that you had to update the firmware before using. Once I did that, it worked instantly! I would love to have the model with the swappable batteries, but I'm only willing to pay so much. My MoFi blue headphones are for listening to hifi music. This is for gaming, but if I had only this, it would be a great option for music too. Just no match for my MoFi Blue headset.

for those who are confused what to buy for gaming! Posted by: from: on i am coming from a completely objective standpoint, and i consider myself an audiophile, well sort of because i have influence with music equipment and all that. i have been looking for a pair of decent gaming headphones for a while now. for those of you that are wondering if there are any other alternatives, the top of the line headphones in the market currently are astro a50, turtle beach elite 800 and steel series H wireless. and i went through all of them to decide which one is the best. the turtle beaches come with all of the power they got to impress the users, and i gotta give it to em. they did impress most of their customers. the only slight issue i had with those is that the ear pads aren't big enough to fit my ears in them. and they are leather. for some reason i never got along with leather ear-pads. other than that. the turtle beaches are amazing. literally they come with a ton of features and the surround sound is just beyond imagination. moving on to steel series H wireless, these headphones king of comfort, OMG. the ear pads are so comfortable and the lightest headphones compared to the other two competitors. sound quality is great but just not loud enough. if they could just bump up the volume a few notches. boom i would have been sold. they come with removable battery. and an extra pack. each of those batteries keep about roughly 19-20 hours ish of charge. which is amazing. and you can charge one of the batteries while playing with the other. last but not the least, the astro a50s, i like these headphones, ear pads are not leather, its like a Velcro ish material which is pretty comfortable, they are light, battery life is about 10 hours on average, sound quality is amazing, surround sound at its best, a little behind turtle beach elite 800 but barely noticeable. one thing i like about these is that the features aren't so hard to learn, setup is super easy. now any of these headphones worth 300 dollars???? thats something you have to decide for yourself. i'd say they are all awesome but just to make it easier, here is a final rundown: if you are looking for better battery life, comfortable headband and earpads, also if having a lower volume is not that big of an issue for you. go with Steel series H wireless. if you are looking for the most features for your buck, top notch sound quality, Active noise cancelling, super hearing mode, decent battery life, also if having a more heavier headphone is not an issue for you. Turtle beach elite 800 is your thing my friend. and if you want a simple setup, great sound quality, comfortable earpads, a more simpler pack is your thing and you are not looking for a lot of features, then go for astro a50. hope this helped, happy to answer questions!
