Best headset...period! Posted by: from: St Louis, MO on Ok let me start by saying i have purchased and returned many headsets. I dont care about mic qualitiy because I don't use. But was out for the best sound experience for gaming. This was by far the best! I had Microsoft stereo, turtle beach 400. Then went to 500p. Next to turtle beach 500x 7.1. Was really disappointed. Then xo seven pro which at the time liked. Then paired it with the astro mix amp which helped alot but in the end the a50's went on sale for 225 and figured I'd give it a try. FINALLY ive found the best out of like 6 or 7 headsets. (Some not listed) amazing sound. Cod you can hear the exactly where things are coming from. Light weight and super comfortable! 7.1 is amazing. Would buy twice if i had to. I promise you dont waist your money on turtle beach like i did. Get the top of the line and avoid the hassle.

Best Wireless Headset for Consoles Posted by: from: Cedar Rapids, IA on I have owned the previous rendition of the Astro A50, as well as the Astro A40. I have also owned several wired and wireless Turtle Beach headsets. The A50 is by far the best console gaming headset on the market if you are looking for a wireless solution. The build quality is top notch as expected from Astro. Turtle Beach headsets really do not compare. TB headsets use cheap plastic and the cushion pieces always look/feel very cheap. This is the complete opposite with Astro headsets. The design and comfort-ability of the Astro A50 is also top notch. My favorite part of the next generation of A50s for the Xbox One is the small adapter that it comes with to connect to the controller for chat. The previous A50s required the use of the Microsoft Chat Adapter which then required an awkward 50/50 mix setup. Pros: - Comfort - Design - Clear wireless 7.1 audio Cons: - Still requires a connection to the controller for chat. Turtle Beach has exclusive license rights to fully wireless solutions.

quick review in detail Posted by: from: on First this is a great headphone, great sound, and for me this headphones is best for comfort, i used to go with turtle beach but the comfort is so bad. My problem with this is the buzzing sound while plugged in with controller cable connect to xbox controller, and if u don't chat no worry about this, but me, i play Competitive COD so i talk a lot and yes it bugs me but i do know how to solve it, if u want to know leave a comment because i don't want to type that much, another thing is when u charge it, right after is fully charged the orange light will still be on instead of turning red, and other than that, the headphone is amazing! i will say is the best gaming headset when it comes to audio and comfort, u can hear footsteps and when someone picks up the bomb really clearly, but if u don't care about the comfort, turtle beach PX 51 is really good, i said that because i have them, and thanks to all who Read (red) this, because it is long....

My Gosh.... Posted by: from: Portland, OR on This is by far the greatest headset I've ever purchased. The audio quality is superior to any Turtle Beach headset I've owned (X04, X07, X32, X42). These A50's also look amazing in person! They have a soft-touch, matte feel to them. The ear cups go over your ears to give you a full immersion, and sound experience. I play Battlefield a lot, and also Destiny. Both games sound amazing! Gun shots, explosions, vehicles, etc. all sound great with crisp audio, and great bass. The mic quality has been great so far. It has voice feedback so you can hear yourself talking without having to assume no one can hear you, which can sometimes cause you to shout. That happened with me a lot. The one thing I really like about this headset is that it can be turned up really, REALLY loud. That was a problem with the Turtle Beach headsets I owned previously. They sounded muffled. These can go higher than your ears can handle. Also, I have yet to hear any crackling or popping with the audio. Overall, these are just a great, quality headset. I definitively recommend buying one.

Pricey, but great! Posted by: from: on The Astro A50 is an excellent headset. I recently purchased the Xbox One edition, and I use this headset for both my Xbox One and my PC. Its fantastic. My play has definitely improved. A lot of people do not understand how a headset can make a difference, but if you are playing a first person shooter like I do, there are so many things more that you can hear, and clearly. The surround sound works great. You can tell what is on top, behind, around. Definitely gives you an extra edge on the competition. Are there headsets that perform this well? Sure, the Astro A50 is not the only one great headset. I feel that it is of great quality. With a $300 price tag it feels odd at first that it is made out of plastic. It deceivingly feels cheap. However the plastic and foam used to build this product are excellent. It is able to stay extremely lightweight and comfortable for hours. The foam allows this to breathe on your head so that you do not get warm. Also the foam allows glasses to fit perfectly without feeling awkward.

Astro A50 2015 Xbox One Best Buy edition Posted by: from: on First let me talk about how great this headset is; the A50's offer great sound and great features. The EQ's are pretty nice this time around: the 1st being Media mode, the 2nd being Core mode and the 3rd being Pro mode (my favorite). The headset come with a XG1 chat cable that allows one to chat over Xbox Live. It is an attached cable to the proprietary connection port on the XB1 controller and at the other end of the cable is a 2.5mm three pole jack the plugs into your headset, to enable chat. Now for the sound quality, the A50 headset delivers stellar 7.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound wirelessly from the TXD MixAmp transmitter. Also, the microphone on the Astro A50 headset is awesome this time around. It sounds a lot more clear and does have nearly as much feedback. The TXD MixAmp features a: USB port, 3.5 AUX port, a Optical IN and Optical pass-through port on the rear, as well as the Micro USB power port. The AUX port will allow one to use a phone that is plugged in and talk through the A50 wireless headset or plug in an MP3 player, iPod, and stream music through. All in all, I would highly recommend this headset.

NOT A BEST BUY ASTRO A50 Posted by: from: Kansas City on I have now returned my 2nd pair of ASTRO A50 headset. I had my 1headset for 6mo before they started acting up they would cut out the chat function and make my controller disconnect from my XBOX ONE. I did the update on them and didn't help at all they would work off and on some days they would be great and i would use them the next day and they would stop working. I got my second pair and a week later had the same issue i kept them for 3 weeks. I e-mailed ASTRO to see if they could help me with the issue there is no live person to talk to or call chat it suck because you have to wait a day or 2 to get an email back. Well they had me go and change all my settings again that i had correct in the first place and do an update and still had the same issue as before. I took them back and will never go back to ASTRO again i will stick to a better working product i got Turtlebeach 800x Elite and i have to say a much better headset. Sorry but do not buy ASTRO!!!!!

Excellent in some regards, but.... Posted by: from: on Sound quality and volume is excellent. 7.1 surround works pretty well considering there are only 2 speakers. The microphone seems a bit "spotty". I had some complain of the quality, while others heard it just fine. The mic itself isn't really adjustable, and that may be part of the problem. The arm is permeable, and can move the mic closer to the mouth, but it always goes back to the original position. To use chat the included adapter must be attached to the controller, and is connected to the headset via a 3.5mm connector. It's only wireless if you don't want to use voice chat, another disappointment for a $300 headset. Also the mic does not seem to be noise cancelling as others could often hear background noise. For a $300 headset this is a bit of a disappointment. Build and feel is solid, and the cloth fabric is soft and breathable. For the most part they are comfortable for extended periods. The only comfort complaint I have is that the padding which rests on the top of your head should be wider. I can always feel it, and after a few hours this feeling was more pronounced, which was a bit annoying. Instead of a wide cushion to distribute the weight, it was thin and therefore 'focused'. These are excellent headsets, however for $300 I expected them to "blow me away", and they didn't. Perhaps I was a little disappointed due to hype setting my expectations high. I am also unsure of the longevity. After a week of use, this morning I pulled them off the charger and went to use them, and no sound at all. Power cycled the mixamp, restarted headphone, checked all connections.... and nothing. Not exactly confidence inspiring. As I go back and read what I wrote, I keep seeing "$300" come up, and I guess that's kind of the issue. These are the most expensive headsets I've seen for the XB1, and while the sound is excellent and it "feels" like an expensive headset, it has some shortcomings that just should not exist on what is the highest priced product in its category. I would consider these excellent at around the $200 mark, but while i would not recommend against them (again, the sound is excellent), I just don't feel they are a great value at the $300 price point. They need to have a "maybe" as a choice for "I would recommend this to a friend". Since there isn't, I will mark as "yes" but take that with a grain of salt.

Amazing Headset Posted by: from: on I was very skeptical about this headset because of all the mixed reviews, but I thought I would give them a try. These blew my expectations out of the water! I love how there is only one wire to the controller compared to my old headset there were wires everywhere. The sound is crisp and clear, and they can get pretty loud when I crank them up. People said they can hear me fine on the mic and it adjusts nicely so I can have it close to my mouth. They are nice and lightweight and are so comfortable and my ears never get hot or uncomfortable! I would recommend these to anybody give them a try! I also love best buys 6 month financing to pay it off monthly which is very convenient.

Thoroughly disappointing Posted by: from: on I am not the first of people I know who bought these with great expectations. They cut out on wireless non stop the chat adapter stopped working properly after 1 hour of use. I have a tri-band router and also used a friends connection to no avail. It is a known problem that the company refused to address for the longest time until a firmware update was released late 2015. This fixed none of the issues. Customer service was awful very delayed and just had you do everything a tech savvy person would have. I highly suggest the Logitech 933 or Turtle Beach 800. These are also conveniently FULLY wireless no cheaply made chat adapter to break plus in 2016 why is that even a thing? I would totally avoid. It's a shame as the sound is fantastic but the other comparable options sound when customized properly is just as good.
