Best Blackberry so far (=
Posted by: PClov3r from: Easthampton, MA on
I've had a Blackberry Torch 9810 for about three months now.
Great phone overall, great touch screen, although the "panels" do get kind of redunent with the favorites and frequent; the frequent panel is basically your favorites panel...
It can be used as an MP3 player....camera is great also includes a flash, and you can download different apps that will turn it into a flashlight....but also using the video camera with the flash/light on will do the trick as well. slide out keyboard makes it easier to text but there is also an onscreen keyboard too.
it can do WiFi which helps keep data costs down.
also has a screen that will change orentation when held upright or to either side...doesnt change when held upside down though.
Overall a great phone that will surpass expectations.

I like the solidness and heft of this phone. It's heavier than my Blackberry Bold 9700 but not too heavy. I like the fact that once a Wi-Fi connection is made and configured, it automatically re-connects to this spot once within range. I had to manually re-connect each time to each different Wi-Fi connection on my Bold. The GPS is still a bit flaky, but at least I don't have to hard re-set to get GPS like I did with my Bold (i.e, turn off, pull out battery, replace and turn on again). The phone reception seems to be a bit better than with my Bold; there seems at this time to be fewer dropped calls.

How has nobody reviewed this yet?

Pretty silent release, but much better than the original torch. OS 7 plus "4G" capabilities made me forget how much i liked the original torch when it came out. I am new to blackberry but since purchasing the past two Torches, i am very happy. I would definitely have more fun with an iPhone or some super android phone, but with everything improved on this phone and its business features and built in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Adobe reader, i almost never need to bring my laptop home anymore. This is certainly no iphone, but i already have an ipod touch that i can play with.
Bottom line, i LOVE this phone. If you like blackberry and have ATT, then get it. $50 bucks is a steal.

Great phone for the price...uhhh Free!

This is my second Torch and for me the phone really works. If you are looking for 'bang for the buck' this is your phone. It is very dependable, and I have never had an issue with it. I love the fact that I have a large touch screen, yet also have a full slide out keyboard for texting. The 4G is noticeably faster than the 3G. The main downside is that I need to charge the phone every night. The only other downside that I have experienced is the lack of cool apps. Don't get me wrong there are many free apps for the blackberry, however nothing in comparison to the amount and quality that Apple offers. So, bottom line, if you primarily use your phone for talking, texting, surfing the web, and occasionally use apps this is your phone. However, if you are a gamer or app junkie you may want to pay the $100+ for the Iphone or Droid.

The new OS7 phone really rocks! The phone is very responsive, the screen is very high resolution, and the battery life is great (even if you are a heavy internet surfer and data user). There is no lag and the Liquid Graphics gives this phone UI a wonderful feel.
You have the advantage of a touchscreen phone and a physical qwerty keyboard. With the 1ghz processor, and the 8gb of device memory expandable to 32gb with SD card, this phone has plenty of storage for music, photos, and whatever you want to put on it.
One of the knocks against BlackBerry is the app selection. It is true there are the number of apps that you find for Apple or Android products, but part of that is so much is built into the phone. The apps that are available do help you accomplish something.

Phone does Everything I need it to do
Posted by: GoodMike from: Somewhere, MA on
I am very happy with this phone. I love the use of the tactile keyboard while I am able to see the full screen. The slide out design allows for this. And the tactile keyboard allows me to be significantly more accurate and quick while typing. The screen is ultra clear and touch screen is very responsive. While browsing, the screen can delay while scrolling occassionally but I attribute this more to the speed of downloading the web page rather than the phone's screen or processing ability. I am very impressed with what RIM has done with the operating system over previous operating systems - huge improvements in usability and speed. Upon comparison with the iPhone 4S this phone is right there. Though the apps are not as abundant as Android and iPhone, it has all the significant apps you really will use, with many coming standard when you buy the phone. I love vlingo (equivalent of Siri on the iPhone). I speak into the phone what I want to type and it captures it quite accurately, as well as dialing phone numbers in my address book with just telling it the name to dial - awesome! All-in-all, this is a great phone. What pushed me to buy this over an Android or iPhone was the keyboard and full screen but upon further use and review I have been very pleased at the functionality.

One of the worst phone ever made.
Posted by: from: Elk grove on
This has to be one of the worst phones I have ever had. Sure one might say its meant for business but if your not getting it for that get another phone, this phone literally has no customization options or apps, at most you can change your layout. The worst part about it is how slow this phone is or eventually becomes, my brother and I both got Blackberry Torches on the same day sure they were fast when we first got them but after a few months we both had ours freezing on us at random. On top of that the blackberry can barely run any video at all without the phone completely freezing for 2 minutes or longer. The thing that missing me off the most was the headphone jack broke after 6 months and after looking it up online it seems to be common with this phone. To wrap this up the phone works great for texting, sending emails, and call but ONLY that. To my suggestion you can get any other smartphone on the market for the same price and it will out perform the BB Torch by far. Please take this review into consideration before you sign a 2 year plan.

everything the 9800 should of been
Posted by: glennwith2ns from: Rochester, NY on
if your an owner of the 9800, upgrading to the 9810 is a must.
with that said before i get to the pro's of the 9810, if your contract threw at&t dos not offer an upgrade yet like mine was the only advice i can offer is (if you can afford to) buy the 9810 at actual price and then trade in your 9800 at best buy threw there geek squad. I was able to receive just over $160 in store credit for my 9800
(the rep said you can exchange and receive money instead of credit at a slightly lower trade in value though, all depending on the condition of your bb also). so just a little info there for anyone who maybe in a likewise situation.
~camera reliably quick
~if a restart is needed the bb loads back up and is good to use within 2 minutes
~touch seems a lot more responsive
~legit 720p HD video recording (recorded just over 30 minutes at a concert and it turned out pretty amazing for a cellphone)
~the entire OS is fluid, smooth, and fast, all around great smartphone that doesn't annoy you because of clunky slowness
my only con for the 9810 relates more to the service providers and how the latest wireless speed is 4G where these cell providers put the bandwidth cap on our devices which defeats the purpose of 4G.. if that wasn't the case i would be able to tether this phone to my computer for its main internet connection with a reasonable connection speed... but no
(only sprint has unlimited 4G, but they lack in quality phones)
