A PS3 Must Buy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.COD4 is the best game for the PS3 yet, and likely will be for some time to come, especially if you're a fan of the first-person-shooter genre. The diversity of this title is what makes it worth the buy (most PS3 games have been, in my opinion, rent only titles). The single player has a cinimatic story that keeps one engaged to the point of addiction. This is probably why COD4 has been dubbed too short by some reviewers. I recommend start playing through the campiegn at the second or third level of difficulty if you have some experience with shooters so that the game lasts longer. Though I haven't yet, I may play the single player game again just to experience some of the game play not featured in online play (gatling guns, air attacks, etc.). Speaking of online, if the single player feels too short and doesn't completely suck you in, the addictive nature of the online competition certainly will (highspeed internet required!). First, let me say that I was addicted to Counter Strike while attending college and haven't found a similar experience since. Let me just say that COD4 is everything CS was and more. COD4 online has many different game types to choose from (with some unlocking as you gain experience points) that keep even the most ADHD players (such as myself) online for hours. And if that wasn't enough, Infinity Ward has added many levels of rank and other goodies to achieve/acquire as you gain experience points through killing other opponents and completing objectives. You might have read that the leveling-up proccess in online play gives the begining COD4 Online players a tough disadvantage at the start. This is quite true, however, if your competitive spirit doesn't run out while learning the maps and innitial weaponry. you will soon be addicted and will find yourself completing outrageous challanges; falling down missile silos to your death, killing enemies while jumping, and even sneaking up and knifing your opponents while their not looking; all of which you'll endevor to grab experience points to gain that all important edge on your online cohorts. And when you think you've reached the end, COD4 challanges you to start all over again in Prestige mode. This mode brings you back to square one, giving you the chance to experience it all again as the noob you were, without all the weapons and goodies that made you the online killing machine you thought you were. In this way COD4 challanges you to gain new perspective relying on nothing more than your tacticle know-how and quick reflexes gained while leveling-up the first time through. With 10 levels of Prestige to achieve, you'll have days of gameplay ahead of you. The only question is, do you have the time?

The best shooter I've played on ps3
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying this game is awesome. By far, since I have had my ps3 this is the best game I have played. I love the realistic weapons effects and performance. For instance, the Javelin shoulder fire missile that is used to take out tanks on some levels. When fired the missile goes up and comes down on top of the target just as the real Javelin used by American armed forces would. Also the claymores have the ability to be activated by motion sensore or a remote you have. There is also a mini gun that doesn't shoot until the battery revs up the rotation of the barrels. The red dot optics are very nice because they provide fast high accuracy. There are a lot of weapons that you can use but you do not have the ability to select which weapon you want to use before each mission. That is one knock I have for this game. The ability for bullets to go through walls and other things that would ordinarly stop a real bullet is captured also. When clearing a building it is almost always good measure to put a couple of shots through the walls to make sure any enemy in the rooms don't get the drop on you. In a nutshell there was a lot of attention allocated to detail for the weapons used in the game. I love that. The graphics are also very good. The graphics are smooth and without glitches. There is also a mission where you are a sniper in a guildy (I think I spelled that righ) suit and the graphics are exceptional. The graphics are still cartoon like but the added power of the ps3 high def capabilities make all movement fluent. The missions provide any level of difficulty you are looking for. This is either through selecting the difficulty before starting a campaign or just through natural progression from mission to mission the game just gets more difficult. There are parts where stealth is required and parts where you are fighting as hard as you can for survival. Some levels have missions where you will need air support to keep the droves of enemy personel from overrunning your position. Air support comes by means of an attach helicopter or fighter plane. Their effects are realistic also as the helicopter can't sit there and attack a position all day and there is a limit to the number of passes the fighter plane can make. The helicopter has to go back for fuel and ammo and the fighter plane can only drop so much ordinance before it has to leave. At the end of the day I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys playing shooters. This is must in your collection of games.

Solid Gameplay and Replay Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best shooter for the PS3 since Resistance, CoD 4 even gives Halo 3 a run for its money with its smooth hi-def graphics and startling sound blasting from the PS3. Much better than the CoD3 release (now that infinity ward, the team that worked on CoD2 is back!). This game offers a truly cinematic and intense single player campaign that may be over in a flash, but leaves a long lasting impression and pushes you to try hardened or veteran mode. After you beat the single player in 6-8 hours, you'll be playing the online multiplayer non stop! Completely accessible and with a class system that allows you customize your weapons and play style while keeping the playing field pretty even, the action never gets frustrating. Unlike other online modes such as Resistance, it's less likely that the sessions will be unfairly dominated by a ridiculously unfair matchup. This is the first game that has actually enticed me to play online, and I can't stop. Add-ons to weapons, earning new abilities, calling in air support on your enemies, the list of "did you see that" moments online are endless. This title should not be overlooked for either the 360 or PS3, and finally Sony fanboys can rejoice that a third party port actually plays and looks just as good if not better on the PS3.

Really Good First Person Shooter
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off saying this has a great online play. If you buy this game for your Playstation 3 you better have internet. Story: The story line could either be hard or easy for you, this also depends on the difficulty you have chosen. The only bad thing about this story line is that it is quite short. Have fun playing this awesome storyline. Online: I will start off with a "wow". That is basically the only thing to describe this awesome heart pounding online where you face off, gain levels, earn perks, guns, and much more. There are a vast variety of levels that you can play online. These are all fun and just great. You can also send bombers with five kills in a row or a helicopter with seven kills in a row. All your kills count as experience towards your max level, 55. Graphics: There are some of the best graphics I have ever seen in my entire life. This actually make it seem like you are in the game playing in a war with real looking grass, guns, just everything! Sounds: The sounds are amazingly accurate. It sounds exactly like a grenade being thrown and being bounced right next to you. The gunfire sounds so real too. Just everything about the sounds are amazing. Overall I would pick up this game at any local Bestbuy. It is great and fun.

awesome game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great buy for anyone that likes first-person shooters. The graphics are amazing. The campaign is one of the best I have played. Although it is too short. I do like the arcade option for the campaign. Gives me and my friends something other than just killing eachother. Since a friend and I are the only ones with a PS3. The multiplayer, offline, leaves more to be desired. The pre-made classes are ok. Would prefer to be able to make your own weapon selection with attachments, inventory and perks. The online play is by far the best part of this game. I could play online all day. Have done a few times. It has some great customization of the weapons and inventory. You got hard cover and soft cover. Make sure you learn the difference between each. Could mean the difference bewtween victory and defeat. The shot box, lack of better term, is very accurate. If you shoot someone in the neck they die, not run behind a wall and recover. Has a great selection of different multiplayer games. Although a mic is not needed, in some team games, like sabotage, it is good idea to have. Communication between teammates always helps a ton. New maps have been added. Needs more weapons now.

Most Immersive in the Market
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."The best game I have possibly ever played. The story is well thought out and very immersive. This is not a run and shoot game, the AI are smart and will shoot back, AND they will hit you. You can customize your weapons depending on your ranking and unlocks when online. Though the customization is nice, it is really basic compared to the full customization capabilities offered in Army of Two and Rainbow 6 Las Vegas 2. The story is short, but thats just for the people who play on recruit/normal and just run and gun. When I start out a new game, I go all out. When playing on Veteran, the enemies can drop you in probably three shots if they can get them landed. If you actually want to experience the story as it is intended, play on the most difficult setting and challenge yourself. Nothing is much fun if it is too easy to beat."

Severely addictive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Normally I reserve my comments for after I have completed a game. But, yesterday I rented this game, and I played until I finally had to force myself to go to sleep. It's your typical first person shooter except much better. You get to do all the things first person shooter games do like kill bad guys, blow-up vehicles, and order air strikes. However you also get to do Sniper missions where you take out high ranking officials and hide in high grass while the enemy almost steps on you. You also get to ride in an airplane and provide support for ground troops while they move through a heavily fortified area. If you are the type of person who loses sleep and ruins relationships because of your video game addiction, do not get this game. You will not leave your TV for a month. Whether you are a beginner, novice, Regular, advanced, or extreme gamer, you won't regret buying this game. Go to this website to view a video of the "ground-support mission". In this mission, you are the gunner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQhjaCgAS80&feature=related

Best CoD game out so far!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this game so much!!! Not only is the online play just outstanding, but it has so many new features. I was skepticle at first, prior to purchasing this game, as to whether or not I would like this game. I wasn't sure if the developers would be able to pull off a modern warfae game. I mean, all of the other CoD games (Call of Duty) had been about WW2. BUt hey pulled it off, and they pulled it off well. The online play is so much fun and highly addicting. I just love the new ability to shoot through walls!! There is however one thing that i didn't like about this game, the last stand feature. This feature enables players close enough to death to fall to the ground and look dead but still have time to get many shots off. This has killed me so many times!!! I hate it. But other than that feature, this game is the best war game on the shelves for 360 and PS3 (which is totally better). I would recommend this game to anybody who enjoys shooters. It is an amazing FPS, one of the best of all time.
