Great monitor for the price
Posted by: trekfan9 from: Pittsburgh on
This is an outstanding monitor for the price. The display is vibrant, the base is sturdy and it looks good on the desk (very thin panel). For 1080 gaming it is a quality deal.
I was using a 23-inch IPS 1080p display and bought this on sale for 149. All the visuals just "pop" on this display. Gaming is more immersive. Other activities are just better as well. I am getting older so it helps to have things a little larger and more clear. This monitor fits the bill.
If you can still find it for 149 then don't delay. It will be sold out soon.
Just be aware that the monitor only has either HDMI (2) or VGA connections. I can't imagine anyone using the VGA because of the signal degradation, so that is useless. So you must have a video card that does HDMI out. My GPU had DVI and DisplayPort interfaces, no HDMI, but luckily I had a DVI to HDMI cable sitting around for some reason. The monitor DOES come with an HDMI cable so you don't need to buy one if you can use it. But if you need an adapter factor that into the price.
Also, it does NOT have any VESA mounting holes so if you want to put it on an arm or on the wall you are out of luck.

Great monitor, but get it on sale!
Posted by: KevinW from: on
Well when I say great, it's really not all that great, but if you can get it for $150 or less then it's a great monitor! The colors and viewing angles are wonderful. How do they even make something so crazy thin?? At 27" I don't notice individual pixels like I thought I might. I game a little bit on this monitor too and the blacks are better than my late TFN monitor which I greatly appreciate and I don't notice any noticeable lag.
A couple of bad things about it, when my computer turns off the screen, but the computer is still on the screen turns black but not off. When the computer goes to sleep or is powered off the monitor will turn off. What this means is that at night you'll be able to see the light bleed (I can't see it during the day). Light bleed on my screen is not uniform, the bottom left and top right are brighter. I was concerned when saw this but I really can't tell a difference when the screen is on. Also the stand isn't all that sturdy, I wish it was brighter, and the anti-reflective coating could be a little bit better. Overall though I think this is the best monitor when it goes on sale, but at it's regular price there are better ones out there.

I came across this deal over the weekend and after some research on current monitor offerings. I decided to go with this monitor to replace my two 6 year old 21" Dell monitor's. I run a dual monitor setup with my MacBook Pro, so I snagged two of these over the weekend and picked them up today.
Setup for both with default setting took all of 20 minutes. I'm very impressed with how thin the screens are, the quality I'm getting with the 1080p display setting and also how durable the stand is which is made of metal and not plastic. I don't use these for gaming, but so far I have no issues with them being 60Hz watching videos, movies and doing graphic design. I'm still tweaking my settings and I find that colors are sharp and blacks are crisp. I've also had no issues with viewing angles.
I saw one review that noted there are no internal speakers, that is correct however not an issue for me since I use a bluetooth subwoofer paired with a bluetooth speaker for my sound. This model tilts but is not height adjustable but no issue for me as they line up fine for how I'm setup ergonomically at my desk. Also keep in mind that this model does not have VESA holes for mounting in case that is something that you are looking for. HDMI cables are included.
If you're on the fence, the current price if still on sale is a great price, especially if you run a dual setup.

Great monitor, incredible value!!

At the sale price, this monitor is incredible value. The image quality is excellent. The screen is glossy but HP did a good job to ensure there's no glare.
Text appears a little grainy at close up range but that's simply the physics of a large 27" screen and 1920X1080 resolution. You can adjust the softness to help but it's really not much of an issue at normal viewing distances. (higher resolution 27" monitors will cost substantially more).
Setup is very easy and this monitor is really lightweight.
My only complaint is that it has a VGA port and two HDMI's but no DVI port. If using DVI, you'll need an adapter.

Very impressed with the monitor. I connected to a HP Pavilion desktop computer and an HP printer in a matter of seconds; very easy. I used the included hdmi cable for the connection and happy I did. Please note, no other printer cable (VGA) is included.

I'm very happy with this monitor. I purchased two of them for school and work (lots of spreadsheets & data analysis). The size is perfect. I almost picked up 24in sets, but I'm glad I got this size instead. Got these at Best Buy on sale about $100 off -- great price! The screens are light, thin, bright, and the detail is amazing. I was initially somewhat concerned about stability given the width of the screen and the smallish center stand. But the screens are very stable. They don't get overly hot either. The one thing I'd point out to potential buyers is that they have no speakers (not that I've discovered -- and I've tried). Otherwise, they're great. I'm totally happy with these and I highly recommend.

An extremely stylish monitor with a sharp image
Posted by: Martin from: on
I know some people feel 27" may be too large for a 1080p monitor but the price was right and I bought it. Firstly, the monitor looks amazing. The bezel on the top, left and right side is very thin with a slightly larger bezel on the bottom. The larger bezel as well as the stand appears to be brushed aluminum and it makes the monitor look very high end. The screen also has some gloss to it when looking at an angle but when looking at it straight on the gloss mostly disappears. As for the image quality, it is pretty good. I've watched a couple of movies and played some games on it and throughly enjoyed it. The only cons on the screen is that it struggles a bit with blacks, as do most IPS displays, and it isn't a 'gaming' monitor so the response time and input is a bit slow but still acceptable. The refresh time is also only 60Hz but since I am using a PS4 with it, that doesn't really matter.
Another note, as with most monitors, it does not have speakers or audio out so you must get audio out of your PC/Console.

A masterpiece for an inexpensive price!

In a gist, I cannot get my eyes off this guy. Indeed Marvelous! For $120, this is a dream come true thing. The Natural Silver color just looks so stunning. I'm using this with my MacBook Pro and it works more than fine. It was smooth setting this up and the good thing is, it comes with an HDMI cable which will save a few $s. It's a masterpiece!!

Purchased this and have had no problems just wish that the fact it came with a HDMI cable had been listed on the package and the website.
