A Phenomenal IPS Monitor at this Price Point!
Posted by: T3KN1KA from: on
I was looking for a replacement and IPS upgrade for my 28" Samsung 4K TN monitor (U28E590D) as well as expand my existing desktop real estate to 3X 4K. I discovered this monitor as a new release at Best Buy and began to research the features, specs and reviews. The feature set met if not exceeded my strict requirements including:
+ 27" IPS 4K
+ 99% sRGB
+ 5 ms response time
+ HDMI 2.0; DisplayPort 1.2a
+ AMD FreeSync
+ VESA mounting
+ Thin bezel
+ No ghosting
+ Shaky stand
As other reviews have mentioned, the stand is indeed not the most stable. However, I did not deduct any stars from my rating as I VESA mounted all three monitors. After nearly a week of ownership, I am hard pressed to find any flaws with this monitor other than the 5 ms response time which of course, faster is always better. However, IPS panels with 1-2 ms response times would be significantly more expensive. As a heavy FPS gamer, I was initially concerned with the possibility of "ghosting" having transitioned from a 1 ms TN panel to this 5 ms IPS panel. To my surprise, ghosting was absolutely non-existent. The colors are rich, vivid and true, the blacks are deep and consistent and the background lighting is clean and bright. When testing any new monitor, dead/stuck pixels is the first defect I inspect. All three panels had ZERO dead/stuck pixels. Thus, right out of the box, all three panels were winners. A great indicator for LG quality control. As with most IPS monitors, this too has fantastic viewing angles at nearly 180 degrees. The options for fine-tuning the picture and color variables are excellent. In fact, LG includes software which will allow OSD monitor adjustments on the desktop via mouse. Overall, I am ecstatic with this upgrade and would HIGHLY recommend this monitor. The LG 28UD68 is a phenomenal IPS monitor at this price point!

I Love it!

I had a monitor I bought last year to use with my Macbook Pro. I had a problem with that monitor because even when I was putting the brightness on zero it was very bright and setting in front of it for few hours was giving me a headache. I went to Best Buy last week trying to find a better monitor. I found this one, so I said to myself: let me buy it and try it. This monitor has an amazing picture even it is a little matte comparing to iMac 5k monitor but it has a very good quality picture. I created special settings. Now the colors on my screen are so beautiful, and I can't even feel the light coming from the monitor even if I put the brightness high. Since the last week, I have used this monitor for many hours without getting eyes strain or a headache

After doing a lot of research and comparisons I decided on this monitor and got a good deal on it when it was on sale. The monitor is big yet very slim looking. It has multiple!e inputs on the back and I chose it over a similar Samsung because of the ability to mount it. Even though it is a great monitor there are a few cons people need to be aware of when purchasing it.
- It has excellent picture quality
- Very small bezel makes it seem even bigger
- Multiple inputs on the back
- Wall mountable using an approved vesa mount
- Packaged well enough to arrive shipped to my house with no damage
- Comes with all the cables you need and a nice clip to attach to the base to help manage the wires
- Better have a new high end graphics card to take advantage of the 4K resolution (new one I picked up cost about $200)
- The wall mount bracket has the inputs right next to it so the mounting bracket has to be the exact vesa specification or it will not work ( I had an existing mount I had hoped to use but it WS a universal one that had a larger vesa pattern also and won't for because of the input location
- The stand is VERY wabbly and doesn't feel very sturdy which is why I recommend mounting it if possible
Overall I am very impressed with the monitor and for the sale price it had the most options and features which is why I chose it.

Gaming 4k IPS with Freesync at a reasonable price!
Posted by: TigerMAS from: on
Not my 1st 4k monitor so I have some experience (have an ASUS 28" PB287Q TN monitor and a 42" Wasabi Mango (LG screen) IPS monitor with Freesync). You do notice the difference between the TN monitor and the IPS, a lot, especially if you have multiple monitors. I do both work (CAD software and video editing) and gaming on these monitors, and since Windows 10 scales the programs much better than windows 7 or 8, a smaller 4k monitor (ie. this 27" one) works and looks awesome (I used to like the 42" the most due to the icons and programs would be normal size compared to the 28", but as I said Windows 10 actually takes into account scaling for UHD monitors).
-$499 for a 27" 4k IPS monitor with Freesync
-5ms response time, not fast but good for an IPS monitor.
-Colors and brightness are amazing (along with details from a 4k resolution)
-Gaming is awesome especially at 11,520x2160 (pick up 3 and you're in eyefinity heaven, no need for AA settings at this resolution).
-Freesync for your AMD video cards. You can max out your settings and keep your fps in the 40-60 fps that takes advantage of the freesync and have a smooth gaming experience.
-Pick up an open box one and save about $60 overall after taxes.
-No vertical stand adjustment. I guess the $$ you save on the monitor you can purchase a monitor mount, otherwise stack books under the stand to give yourself some vertical adjustment (it has tilt, just no vertical).
-No con here, but don't get suckered into other sites overpricing this monitor just because there's a lack of supply but a good demand for them. I've seen only one other site that has it in stock and they charge $100 more.

Excellent 4K Gaming Monitor with DP 1.2 & HDMI 2.0
Posted by: TheRedCrossKnight from: on
Using monitor with my gaming PC and XBOX ONE S. Lots of options for gamers and with a 5ms GTG, this monitor is a must for the price. IPS panel is great and color very vivid (still working out color calibration settings, but otherwise excellent!). Love the mini toggle joystick that controls the monitor menu - SO INTUITIVE and EASY to use! Excellent 4K quality when gaming and with UHD content (movies, Netflix, etc.). Monitor comes with drivers for both PC and Mac and a PDF manual on a CD. It also includes the stand, power supply, a DisplayPort cable and an HDMI cable.
An affordable, great quality 4K monitor for a variety of uses and a GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY!

Brilliant UHD Display, get a better mount/stand.
Posted by: wscskier from: on
I work in tech and probably spent to much time researching new displays, I run both Mac and Windows and was looking for a replacement for my home office & work systems. Best Buy matched the price of a competitor so I saved a few dollars. The display is awesome, very straight forward and works well, clear, crisp, bright, easy to setup. I run my 2015 Macbook Pro Retina via HDMI and it works at all resolutions. Also use it with my Windows box some as well and works great. Only comment, which would not stop me from buying this display is that the stand/mount is pretty light weight. If your desk wiggles at all the display will as well. I have it mounted on an arm connected to my desk and it works great, very little movement and this LG display is about 30% lighter than the 24" dell monitor I had mounted before.
I would not hesitate, it is a great display...

Great picture quality, so-so construction.

The color, contrast and brightness rival Apple priced 27" cinema monitor and the 4K resolution is a joy especially working with Photoshop, however
Lag chose to put it in a cheap plastic casing with a flimsy stand. So it's a superior screen housed in cheap case/stand which is not a problem if you do not have pets or kids and keep it in a safe place. Definitely take the optional 4-year extended warranty from Best Buy so you will have no worries because it covers physical damage too. Don't recall how much it cost, however, I do recall it was something insignificant like $40

Great 4k monitor for the money
Posted by: DrSinji from: on
Retails for $499. Got mine for $370 for an open box. Had minor scratches on the top back part but, its an open box, so not really complaining.
Pros: The screen is fantastic, imagine that, a 4k IPS screen at 27". A sleek design that catches my peoples attention. Comes with two HDMI 2.0 ports with a display port 1.2 also with an aux port. At my desk, I have my desktop connected through display port and ps4 and laptop as the other two HDMIs. The menu for settings, input, etc is very easy to use with a toggle type of button. Comes with driver disc, hdmi, display port cable.
Cons: Contrast not very good for gaming. I noticed playing battlefield hardline, on the map, Growhouse, with contrast turned up on both the monitor and battlefield settings, (not maxed out, but higher then normal) The deep blacks were washed out. Other games. Speakers would be nice, but for the price, its fine.

Love the monitor. Colors are great, and sharpness is awesome. Definitely better for gaming than my 4k led tv and my 4k oled tv. The tvs both have better color accuracy and clarity but they are 55 inches of 4k. But the Monitor is by far better for gaming and response times. If you looking for videos in color and clarity then buy a tv however, if your looking to game and videos go monitor.

4k IPS LED LCD with Freesync........Awesome
Posted by: TigerMAS from: on
For less than $500 you can't even find a g-sync monitor that is not ultra high definition in this price range. I bought 3 of these for eyefinity. What is there not to say about this monitor besides it is awesome with excellent color rendition and an excellent viewing angle. 60 hz is basically what all of your 4K monitors are at currently so that is nothing new. Pushing three of these monitors using an R9 295x2 video card makes gaming ridiculously clear even at medium settings. 40 to 60 fps freesync kicks in and makes the motion clear and I don't even see too much motion blur at all in first-person shooters like Battlefield 4.
Video and photo editing on these monitors are crystal clear. If you are running Windows 10 it seems to scale programs and icons a lot better than running a 4k monitor on Windows 7 or 8.1 and since it's only 27 inch it makes the DPI packed closely together making the pictures even more clear.
