Dream mouse :)

I had been looking for a mouse that would track over glossy surfaces, and read about Microsoft's BlueTrack technology. Even though Microsoft is quick to say it won't track over glass and glossy surfaces, they are too modest. I've used the 3500 on ALL types of glossy surfaces, and it performed perfectly; without a hitch.
The tranceiver is so small it's not a hassle or danger to leave it in a USB port permanently, and the mouse itself is not too big or too small (like many wireless mice).
It did not come with a travel pouch to keep it from getting damaged in a backpack or laptop bag, but other than that, honestly, I can't find anything else to complain about. A wonderful product.

Awesome plug n' play mouse
Posted by: Pete4675 from: Milwaukee on
I bought this mouse awhile back to use on my gateway laptop and I've never had a problem with the mouse. Its a great size, smooth roller wheel, buttons work very well.
My favorite feature is that there is an on / off switch on the bottom of the unit to help save battery life. The nano reciever is excellent, it stores in the bottom of the mouse, push a litle button and the reciever pops out.
Also, it gets excelent range, out of curiosity one day I tested how far away I could before it would stop responding, and the furthest I got was about 20 to 25 feet away.. I cant think of a scenario where that'd be useful, but its still handy if you need that.

SHORT BATTERY LIFE & poor tracking
Posted by: Jake222013 from: Harrisburg, PA on
I chose to buy this mouse because it was a great price and had relatively good reviews. It was priced pretty well at $15 but really did not function as well as the reviews said it would. After a MONTH AND A HALF, the first (fresh AA) battery died. 1 1/2 months is too fast for a mouse battery to go dead. So, I tried another different fresh AA. After a little over one month that also went dead. At this point, I was already passed the return period for the mouse. Now I'm stuck with it and I'm already on my third battery.
It also DOES NOT TRACK VERY WELL at all on white surfaces. This can get quite annoying. However, it seems to work well on a smooth, black surface.
Overall, look for a different cheap mouse, because THIS ONE IS NOT WORTH ITS GOOD PRICE. I hope this review saves you the $10-$20 you otherwise might have wasted buying this mouse.
I've was always happy with the Logitech mouse I had a work. I think I'll buy another one of those.

Very compact and easy to use

Very compact mouse that is easy to take with you anywhere. The nano receiver is super small and is capable of being left in you laptop. Fits very comfortably in your hand and runs smooth over almost any surface

Just picked up this new model from Microsoft and it is excellent in every way. The transciever is nice and small and just plug and play and you're ready to go.The mouse also has a ON/OFF switch on the bottom so the battery won't drain when not in use. Highly reccommended!

Efficient Design, Poor Quality
Posted by: roobee from: The Bay, CA on
Bought this mouse after my notebook's touchpad died (needs replacing). Nearly everything about this mouse was satisfactory: function, ease-of-use, blue-track works on nearly any surface, ergonomically comfortable. The price at Best Buy was decent at around $20, I didn't want to spend more. And I'm glad I didn't.
In three months I've replaced the battery twice. Not such a big deal, but, not as advertised-- (I believe it claims to last 6mo's).
Next, the mid-button scroll wheel just stopped scrolling. It still works to initiate cascading windows, position the mouse icon. But it no longer scrolls. This, after just 3 months.
Though the price of this mouse is reasonable, I refuse to accept that $20 buys three months of complete product functionality. (Especially when this is simply an interim device between now and when I decide to replace the faulty touchpad).
I would not buy this mouse again.

It is great i bought this for a replacement of my desktop mouse because my desktop mouse keeps making the disconnect and connect noise and it keep disconnecting while i am doing stuff so got tired of that and bought this little mouse and it works better than ever but the only thing i don't like is when i use the mouse wheel. I only scroll once and the internet page scrolls down alot but doesn't bother me much because i now use the internet scroll bar instead of using the scroll bar on the mouse.

Perfect for travel of desktop with limited space

Was looking for a second MS Sculpt Mobile Mouse. This is essentially the same though storage for the USB transceiver is less convenient with the mobile 3500. The size and shape of this mouse work for me. Looks like the Sculpt version has been discontinued. The 3500 is a suitable replacement.

You get what you pay for
Posted by: cotton79 from: on
This is a lousy mouse. For some reason, it freezes up unexpectedly and bounces the pointer all over the page. It's frustrating to constantly re-do my hand movement to get the cursor where I exactly want it (especially when I'm trying to x-out those annoying pop-up ads that are so ubiquitous nowadays). I admit to perhaps having a heavy hand when using this mouse, but that should not affect the function of the it. I grabbed the least expensive model in the Best Buy store's assortment, and that was a mistake. The old adage in my title says it all: you get what you pay for.

I was looking for a wireless mouse for my laptop that would just be a plug in and use. I like the new blue light technology because i'm not always carrying a mouse pad or around compatible surfaces for the old laser mice. Also love how it has a power switch on the bottom of the mouse so i don't have to take out the USB.
