Easy to use

I lost my plantronics voyager legend and was reluctant to spend so much for another unit. So I looked at the choices and went with the BOOM. It's been great- super easy to pair with my Iphone and simple to use. Just flip open the mike and listen to the tone telling you that it is connected and how much talk time you have left. I've had no issues with call quality and I'm told I can be heard very well. The unit is tiny- so tiny it's easy to lose in a pocket. I like the inside the ear holder- quite comfortable for me. The battery life has been excellent and it uses a common mico usb charger so I didn't have to purchase a car charger as I had one from a previous phone. The voice commands work well. The BOOM costs about 2/3 as much as the legend and in my opinion is just as good if not a better unit.

Couldn't ask for more
Posted by: BigTony35 from: Chicagoland, Il on
Due to a new Illinois law going into effect on Jan 1st, regarding hands-free phone use, I decided to get a bluetooth. Did some research and figured the cheap ones were garbage and went for this mid-priced model. No frills, just what I needed..
Took it home, charged it, turned it on. Immediately, my Galaxy S4 found the device and enabled it. Had my daughter make two calls to test it out. Sounded amazing and had no problem on her end either. Felt like I wasn't wearing anything while walking around talking. Easy to use the on/off and volume. Love how the boom is the on/off switch, lessening the need for one more switch,
Couldn't ask for more for the money. This is a winner.

Quality BlueTooth and Great Price
Posted by: Klees from: Pennsylvania on
This unit is replacing a Plantronics M50 that I had been stolen and I was a little skeptical purchasing this with no reviews online and the in store associate admitting he did not know if they had sold any of these in the store. he said they only started carrying them a week ago. He mentioned a 15 day return policy so I decided to test it out.
I paired this BT with an older Motorola Droid 2 Global that I'm very fond of. The phone and BT paired almost instantly and immediately was playing media audio through the BT. The issue I'm having is that when initially connected the phone audio is not played through the BT like the media audio. The fix is to power cycle both the phone and BT, in that order, and then the BT plays both the phone and media audio. I can't tell if this is an issue with the BT or my older phone but with them both being motorola products I would thing annoyances like this would not be an issue.
I love the size of the unit and the multiple wearing options. The pack includes one over the ear loop that rests on the outside of the ear, another over the ear loop with and ear bud to fit into the ear canal, and two inner ear loops with different size earbuds. I tried all four and prefer the over the ear loop with the ear bud. It feels very stable and the earbud blocks out some outside noise. Its nice that they include all four styles so there is something for everyone right out of the box.
The only flaw I see with the design is the on/off flip microphone which is a good idea but the mic flips in towards your ear when you turn it off and is difficult to flip back out without knocking the unit loose from your ear. Perhaps with some wear the mic will loosen slightly and the problem might go away.

READ THIS BEFORE BUYING!!!
Posted by: rasterdan from: St. Petersburg, FL on
I purchased this Apr 18 and less than 6 months later the boom broke off. It is made of plastic. The boom has a square shaped switch that the boom rotates when it opens. This boom easily cracks at the thin point of the hinge and then the device is rendered useless.
Motorola is going to replace my device under warranty but it has been more than a month and they don't have any in stock because, "They are upgrading the quality of the device". Obviously this has a problem they are aware of so wait until the next version. So I have a choice to either buy a different model or brand or ... wait until they get around to fixing the problem and sending me a new one.
Motorola was straight up with me and acknowledged that the device was defective but they are not sending me another unit or a better unit, just nothing until they restock. They won't refund my money because I bought it from a 3rd party "BestBuy".
It did work great until the boom broke off. I have had these type products in the past and the booms are often the worst part but it had awesome range when it was operational. I gave it one star because I don't recommend you going out and suffering my fate unless you handle it super careful and keep it in a little box or something to protect it in your pocket and open it like it is made of glass. Very fragile!

Great Quality, Poor Fit
Posted by: Mfinancial from: Highland, IN on
I am a 1st time bluetooth user and I bought the Boom two weeks ago. The quality of the sound is great. Had no trouble hearing callers and callers had no trouble hearing me. Didn't get comments from callers about sounding like I was in a tunnel or anything like that. Set up was simple and buttons on bluetooth are easily accessible. Battery life was good. My problem is with the fit. I tried the over the ear clip and the in the ear fit. Neither works for me. Maybe small ears???? I am returning today only because of fit.

I was very skeptical about this product I read some of the reviews before buying and took my chances on it. I don't regret it, great product . Sounds great, light weight and durable. The battery life not bad. It's a little tricky setting up the caller ID to recognize the name of your incoming call . Remember they have to be programmed in your contact list for it to work. If you have an iPhone 6s don't know if it works for Android the same, but you go into setting then phone setting you will see an option that says announce calls and choose headphones and car. It only works when phone is on on vibrate and it will says the callers name that you have programmed on your phone and then their number. It works a good majority of the time. hope my review helped some.

Great budget bluetooth
Posted by: CdoTT from: on
Was a little skeptical at first but after a couple days of use, its a solid bluetooth with good sound quality. People on the other end say I sound normal so for the price you can't beat it. This device streams media and music flawlessly and you can connect multiple devices. Great buy

Can confirm the echo... Lots of it...
Posted by: Carlitos71 from: Houston, TX on
LOTS of echo for all calling parties regardless of which device I am connected to. Can cancel echo by going into settings, activating the WideBand audio, then closing the boom, going into settings again and turning WideBand audio off again. Problem is, if I close the boom to turn off the device, when I open the boom to turn back on, the echo returns even though I haven't changed the settings. I then have to go through the whole process again to get the echo cancelled. Would love to keep the Boom if it can be fixed, otherwise I may have to take it back... Otherwise a great device. Would recommend if this issue is fixed.

Was great, then fell apart!!
Posted by: Boom from: on
Bought it 11-27, now it's 12-13 and the flip part just flipped off and flew under the fridge. Not sure why it broke, but it'specifically worthless now. $60 paperweight, beyond the 15 day return policy, so stuck without a headset while I fight Motorola for support.
