About time Posted by: from: Huntington Beach, CA on Replaced my 9 year old 12 cup Mr Coffee non-programmable due to a half price sale at BestBuy. The swing out coffee filter holder is easy to access, most models load from the top now a days. This basket locks in place, my past model opened by accident more then once. This filter holder needs a larger top hole to remove it quicker. I enlarged mine as another reviewer suggested, and corrected that design mistake before enjoying my first cup. That cup, with added cold milk and sugar was too hot to drink right away. The clock is needed for timer usage but a joke otherwise, too small and not lite as reported by others. Is 900 watts so 2 real size coffee cups, 6 per water gage, takes 6 minutes. My old Mr Coffee was 1100 watts, had thicker plastic, and ran quicker. Ordered Friday, home delivered Tuesday, thanks UPS ! I would suggest buying this over the one switch, non programmable model. I might use that timer some day. And the one button model has a top load coffee filter basket. KCinLA

Great Coffemaker for the price Posted by: from: Avon, IN on Makes great coffee without much hassle. Removable basket is super, since it cleans up quickly. Timer was easy to set up. The shutoff valve is great, so you can get a quick cup before brewing is complete. Easy to fill water canister. What is really great is the 2 hour shutoff if you leave the coffee pot on the burner. This keeps the coffee hot enough and shuts it off if you forget. Some people have complained about the glass pot that it drips, but if you open the lid or pour slower then dripping is not a problem.

Warm Coffee Posted by: from: Texas on Pitiful excuse for a coffee maker! I have owned Mr. Coffee Makers in the past and chose to replace one that I have because it seemed that it no longer made hot coffee after four months. This one is just as bad! The design of the entire unit is poor. The cord is placed on the right hand side of the back instead of in the middle so it makes the cord seem terribly short if you wish to place the coffee maker to the right of the outlet. The basket is not easily removed for cleaning. The only positive thing is the reservoir is easily accessible for pouring the water in. *I only ordered this to use a Reward Zone credit of $20... and it was not even worth it (free)! *I plan to order a Bunn from Amazon and enjoy some hot, flavorful coffee.

Great Coffee maker Posted by: from: Appleton, WI on Its a great coffee-maker for the price. I bought it for $15 during Thanksgiving sale. Have been using it for around 1.5 months and every time it works like a charm. Filling water tank is easy & it has marker to show how much water, the tank has which is good. The container to put coffee ground in, is basket style. And is really easy to use. Before using it, I was a little concerned if it would be able to make just 2 or 3 cups of good coffee as its capacity is 8-12 cups. But it works really fine even for making 2-3 cups. The only feature that I was expecting but is missing is A Sound Alarm when the coffee is done. It doesn't tell when the coffee is done, so I have to check, when water stops pouring into the carafe, the coffee is done. But it is really fast, at least for making 3 cups, it doesn't take more than 5 minutes.

Price is the best feature Posted by: from: Providence, RI on I needed to replace my old 'Mr. Coffee' coffee maker and saw this one as a pre-Christmas deal. Pros: The price was fantastic!; it brews an 'ok' pot of coffee considering the price; it's easy to clean; it holds filters well including being able to nestle a carbon filter on top fairly easily Cons: It spills nearly every time you try to pour it because of the design of the carafe. INCREDIBLY annoying! You have to pour extremely slowly to avoid this; the basket drips onto the warming place when you remove the carafe causing burnt coffee/cleaning issues; it's minor, but you have to press the on/delay/off button twice to turn it off. I've pressed it once a few times and the timer has turned it back on; the clock is tough to see underneath the pot Overall: I would only recomend this to someone if they needed something in a pinch. It's worth what I paid for it, but for twice the price you can get a much better pot of coffee, much better features and a carafe that is designed better. To me, that is more valuable.

Great value Posted by: from: on I don't like these types of reviews - especially the negative ones since often berate the product for the owners' errors or ignorance. Most often there are a number of negative reviews that are clearly the result of someone who did not read the owner's manual. In the case of this coffee maker, some negative reports even appear to be the result of them not cleaning the coffee maker correctly before the first use (including one that references the corrosion). Other examples include: This coffee maker shuts off automatically after 2 hours for safety) - NO coffee maker will keep coffee warm when it is off; the clock is as accurate as the power line frequency (accurate to within less than a second / month); this product has a decanter (not a carafe); over pouring any spout will make a mess (re: chemistry 101 lab); using the specified filters (or others that actually fit) prevents grounds from getting in the coffee as well as problems with the drip mechanism when clogged with grounds. Reviews like this are difficult to weigh until after you make the purchase yourself. I included the above to assist others in weighing the reviews entered by others. I would have simply pointed those interested to read the online owner’s manual, but the Mr. Coffee does not make them available online. There are those selling scanned copies of the manuals, but there is no guarantee that they will match the current version of this product. This coffee maker was clearly designed to cost. It does not have sound deadening so you can hear it work. It is not loud, but you can hear it. The materials are light (i.e., thin), but will be durable with little effort on the part of the owner. It is NOT overbuilt, but at this price no one should expect that it would be. It was clearly a real bargain when evaluated realistically.

Why did they change the basket design?? Posted by: from: Monkton MD on This is about the fourth or fifth similar Mr. Coffee coffeemaker we have owned . They tend to be a good product for the money. Usually we get a new one when my wife breaks or cracks the carafe, as it is about $11-13 to replace it and a new coffeemaker isn't that much more. BUT, they changed the design of the basket so it is not drop in like tha last few. This one swings out from the side which is OK, but it is held in place by two dinky plastic pins - it's very difficult to remove for cleaning and replace. You have to align the top one- which is nearl;y impossible to see, then try to lower the basket into the bottom one. Hard to do - takes couple or three tries - annoying. I would not buy this again and do not recommend it. That said, it does brew coffee correctly as expected and it is a good price for it ($15.99)

great product Posted by: from: GA on I got this last year when it was the deal of the day for $15 and I love it. So great and for only $15, you definitely can't beat it. The programmable feature is great for those early mornings when you're in a rush. Just put the coffee in the night before and program it and it'll start brewing your coffee at the set time. My only problem is, the pitcher spills every time I pour coffee out. I've tried slowing down and it still spills, so I'm not sure why that happens, that's the only con. I wouldn't pay the full $30 price for this, but for $15, get it now!

Worst Coffee Pot EVER!!!!!! Posted by: from: manalapan, nj on The machine itself is fine - no big deal - easy to change filters but the coffee pot itself is AWFUL!!!! Everytime you use it to pour water in the reserve or coffee in your cup - the liquid runs down the side of it leaving afull cup all over your counter!!!! It is AWFUL!!!! Such a waste of $30 to be aggravated every single time you use it................in this case, you really do get what you pay for so if you are a big coffee drinker, do yourself a favor and spend the dough to get your cup of peace in the morning!!

Really nice coffee maker Posted by: from: KC on I was disconcerted when it arrived packaged only in the original manufacturer's box as I was positive something would be broken. Luckily, everything was fine, and we brewed our first coffee the next morning. The first thing I noticed was the taste; I could tell the machine used all the grinds - or a lot more than our previous machine - as it was rich and yummy. The temperature was good with it being hot but not scolding (I am impatient and do not want to blow on my coffee as it cools to hot). We cannot testify towards its longevity with only a month of use. In my book 4 stars is great while 5 stars is knock my socks off. This maker works great, but it starts to do some chores like mopping, I will never give it a 5-star rating.
