Power Supply Board (PSB) Issue

Unfortunately there is a common issue with this model, S90D 77”, where the PSB fails suddenly. This seems to happen within the first few months of usage typically. Mine lasted about 6 months until one day my tv shut off and the curcuit breaker for the room flipped. Thankfully samsung has a 12 month manufacturer warranty thay covered the cost of the replacement part (which is now redesigned not to fail) and the labor for their techs to come out. I wont give a lower review simply because they were able to come out so quickly and were in and out. But if i were to purchase a new TV, I would not go with this specific model. My other Samsungs have lasted me very well (in fact, i still have one from almost 20 years ago going strong), so I wouldnt steer away from the brand… yet.

Power board supply failure

Very disappointing considering how much I've spent on the tv, and after a year of use I need to spend $400 to continue using it. What's going to break after that. I've had $100 TVs last longer then this.

Beautiful but faulty

The picture is out of this world. I cant say enough about the color volume, contrast and brightness. I'm not a fan of the newer Tizen OS. I preferred the older version on older Samsung tvs. However that's not why I gave this TV 3 stars. The picture being so good is what saved this tv from a 1 star because it has a glaring problem. The 77" s90d is notorious for the PCB dieing after very short use. As you can see with a google search, it is a wide spread problem. I contaced Samsung and a technician was out in less than 7 days to repair. He informed me that they get 2-3 a week in my area with the same failure. He told me it was a Samsung issue from the factory, that the PCB used in the S90D was the same one used in another Samsung model thats 75". It has no issues in that model but a high failure in the S90D 77". The new PCB he installed is a slightly upgraded one, and has ran my tv perfect since. He also informed me they had not had a single failure with the upgraded PCBs in these tvs. If it wasn't for the widescale PCB failure, this tv would be 5 stars in my opinion.

Samsung need to put more love on quality control

Our 77-inch came defective with a black screen coming on and off every 15 seconds and a line in the middle. Samsung should have better QC control before dropping any device of this level like that. That’s why my 3 stars. Thanks to Best Buy for the quick action on returns and giving me a new one. Screen overall, the color and brightness are amazing. Nothing can compare. The menu still needs to get better and more intuitive. Tizen is in 3rd place behind android tv and web os but Input lag on this tv have the best, and gaming has a draw with LG

3 Defective TVs in less then 1 month.

Got my first S90D delivered 3 weeks ago and it had the power port loose and 2 small scratches. Got the 2nd replacement TV a week later and mount technician noticed adhesive was coming off. They also gave me a old used remote that was scratched. 3rd TV delivered a week later, same adhesive issue as 2nd TV. Also Samsung Auto Updates TV even if you turn auto update off, they force updates and the brightness of the TV completely changed and got dimmer. Returned and got the LG G4, cant wait for delivery!

Be Careful!

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite my horrific experience, I still believe Samsung is a great company and QD-OLED is a technology worth owning. That said, my 77" S90D died just 60 days from purchase. That is just 30 days past Best Buy's return window. And yet, despite Best Buy's rules and policies, I feel like they should have made an exception for this problematic model. FACT: Best Buy is very aware of the issues surrounding this Tv, because it's a well known, well documented issue. So should you buy this tv? If you recognize the value of the Quantum Dot technology, then yes, I'd say go for it, but just remember this: If you buy the 77" model, there is a solid 80% chance the power board inside your tv will die and you will have to get it repaired. Odds are the power board will fail more than 30 days into ownership, but less than a year. This means the tv repair should be covered under Samsung's warranty. The repair will involve contacting Samsung, answering all of their questions with: "Yes sir, I tried that. Yes sir, I also tried that." Once your Samsung representative is convinced you've done everything he has asked, he will then schedule a repair appointment. The appointment will be 7-28 business days in to the future, so be prepared to wait, and wait, and wait. On the date of your appointment, a local technician from a 3rd party service center will arrive to repair your tv. Watch them like a hawk. If you're not on top of situation, it's entirely possible your furniture could be damaged by accident, by the technicians. Insist on any nearby furniture be covered with heavy protective blankets. Finally, have several brand new microfiber clothes available to clean the screen. Any technician or team of technicians who come to repair your tv will leave it filthy and smudged with grease, oil and dirt. It will be on you to clean it and believe me, you will want to badly. Good luck, and God speed!

Great TV, great picture and sound, but concerned

As in glitched and turned off mid-show, and would not power back on. Best Buy promptly replaced it as we were well within our return/exchange period, and we’ll set up the new TV today. Hopefully this was just a one-off but we’ll see.

Not quite as good as I expected.

Game mode is a waste as it makes everything look so fake and blue. It seems to have issues with upscaling images as the picture has pixelation issues around the edges of objects on older content. It also weighs about 80 lbs, so make sure you have two people to mount it on the wall if that's your route.

Go to Home > left direction button > Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
...and select the mode that best fits your usage:
1. Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments
2. Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments
3. Eco: Provided to save energy
4. Movie: Suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room
5. Filmmaker Mode: Provides source content just as the creators intended. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it’ll automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.
You can also fine-tune your picture with expert settings such as brightness, contrast, sharpness and more (All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings).

It was good until it wasn’t.

I loved it until last week when went off and won’t turn back on. Best Buy Geek Squad personnel were very helpful and are delivering a replacement next week. Soap opera effect is horrendous

Horrible motherboard (if that’s what it’s called)

The capacitor isn’t powerful enough for the tv. So it broke on me on two tvs. The first one, was after a week of use and Best Buy sends me a new one. Then the second one lasted 5 months. That’s when Samsung sent a tech and they replaced the whole motherboard. The tech said this is common with only the 77 inch affected by it.

I wish i would have seen this tv before buying

Great picture, but 1st TV died on me quickly

great tv but..

Sports views - just okay

Unfortunately, in the Best Buy store they could not turn the TV to a sports channel, so I had to trust their person helping me and the reviews. Close up pictures are awesome, distances that show the whole court or field, not so much.

Samsung TV OLED S90F 4K

Big draw back is that the TV just stopped working less than a year in wouldn’t turn on. Not sure if this is a Samsung TV issue or I just purchased a faulty TV.
