Great Image BUT Mystery Smear Marks

I provided a 4-star rating but may change to 5-stars if issue is resolved. I have a new (December 2023) 85" XR 85X90L that I purchased from Best Buy and notice what appears to be cleaning lines/smears that I cannot remove or clean, possibly behind the outer screen surface, see attached photos. I only notice the marks when the screen is black (or TV is off) in a dark room, and a light is reflecting off a glass patio door opposite the TV. I spoke with Best Buy and they replaced the TV with the same model, but I still noticed the marks; original purchase Black Friday November 2023, replacement December 27. I also contacted Sony and the agent referred me to an authorized servicer, but they could not diagnose the issue due to time of day the lines would appear (before sunrise or after sunset). Can someone explain the "smear marks" (see attached photos). Possibly the anti-reflection/glare coating feature? Regardless the image looks great and does not appear to be compromised, but I want to make sure. Is this an issue that Sony should investigate and issue a recall or a corrective action plan.

Good color and picture

Owned for 8 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 8 months with this tv and have amazing graphics; I have and Samsung qled 8k and this Sony bravía have better pictures and Colors; the sound it’s por but if you combine with the Sony bar 9 you will have a game changing; my only issue it’s don’t want turn on so i called Sony and they fixed but they required from me remove the tv from the wall tv before the Service; this one it’s a 85 inch; bad for Sony requesting this; also i paíd 2400 usd last year; today it’s 1000usd more cheap

Great Quality For Living Room

Had a slight problem with gaming with the Xbox on it. Seemed very delayed in terms of speed there when playing Call of Duty on it, but I don’t expect this to be my TV for that. Otherwise great picture and frames. I just wish it would perform better being its 120hz.

I can not receive the major networks (NBC,CBS,ABC) via antenna but will get the side channels no problem. Almost like it does it by design. It does a better job receiving UHF then VHF. I have my old TV right next to it and it receives these channels. If it wasn't so big I would have returned it. Side by side next to a older model there is a significant delay even with over the air channels. On the plus side I really like the picture and love watching sporting events on this TV. I opted for this TV because it offers more TV for my money then it's competitive brand, and the picture quality was comparable. I'm hoping to get the major networks after I set up the new antenna.

Installed it myself and it was heavy. The picture quality is amzing, sound is great even without a sound bar and tne 85inch gives a surreal feel in a smaller space. Not sure if it’s the fact that i stream from YouTube TV but no sports or really anything im playing looks that clear even 4k YouTube videos still feel off.

When streaming content, the resolution used to show the content on the TV screen is determined by the streaming app. In addition, screen resolution may vary and display higher when the connection speed is high or lower when the connection speed drops or becomes unstable. This part of streaming is managed by the streaming service to maximize the viewing experience and minimize content buffering on slow connections when higher resolution data cannot be sent continuously. To view content that matches the quality of your TV (HD or 4K), your streaming service must support the higher quality and you may have to subscribe to a specific plan to receive that content. The only issue I have with it is that it doesn't seem as nice as it did in the store, and I've been messing with the settings a lot to get the best out of it. Only other issue is sometimes while I'm gaming the screen will glitch out for a moment. Otherwise a beautiful tv and I would still recommend it.

Great TV for the price

The HDR and brightness levels are amazing. The color is very accurate without alot of adjustment. The only downsize are the view angles, that's the only thing keeping me from giving this TV 5 stars. The sound quality is average but I already had a soundbar set up, so the internal TV sound quality isn't an issue.

Stand is over 18” deep

The legs are over 18”, so if you are not hanging on wall, make sure your tv console is deep enough, most aren’t that deep. Very good picture, and speakers aren’t that bad, but we did end up using a sound bar with it. It is very heavy. We went with Sony because of all the other Sony products we have had in past that have never let us down.

I will say you won’t get as high definition as an OLED where if you walk to the sides you might notice a change in the display ever so slightly as opposed to the OLED but the difference is so minimal that I wouldn’t say its noticeable to most people. Sound quality is pretty good on its good, as what you would expect from Sony, but would recommend a sound bar for a better experience overall.

Great TV after changing the settings

You have to change the picture settings to custom because if the formats are adjusted by the TV, it will sometimes glitch into a split screen. Aside from that, the TV works well and has a great picture. The smart TV apps allow us to use it without a roku. At the price point, this TV is an excellent value and a great balance of price, quality, and size.

Geek squad install

Then a new one was ordered and was installed. Great tv so far. Guys did a great job installing and cleaning up. Love the picture. Sound has to be turned up a little louder even with the Sony sound bar but we like it.

I have found the need for a lot of picture customization for different styles of viewing . It’s not a con I like being able to customize picture and sounds . Once you get it set right it’s impressive 85” . Only con is I have had problems with voice syncing causing the need to power cycle during a movie or show not good . Still trying to work that out only had it for a couple weeks . One other note ; in a bright room with natural light coming in you will have screen glare . There is a vivid setting that helps minimize it .

To make sure your TV runs as smooth as possible, we highly recommend downloading and installing the latest software for the TV. Picture mode settings provide preset adjustments for the type of picture you are viewing. Picture settings also allow a wide array of changes to color, contrast, clarity, and brightness that can improve the viewed content on your Google TV.
