how does the sensor need to be mounted
The Iris outdoor sensor includes a mounting bracket that can be mounted to a surface or post or you can purchase a length of 3/4 inch schedule 40 or 80 PVC pipe or a steel pole with an outer diameter of one inch. We recommend mounting the sensor at least 5 feet off the ground and away from any surfaces that may radiate heat with no obstructions near or above. Whats is the average lifespan of the batteries in the 5in1 sensor ?
The battery life expectancy for the sensor is 12-24 months. We recommend Lithium batteries for installation locations where temperatures can go below -4°F/-20°C. Verify you are using batteries with a nominal voltage of 1.5 volts. NOTE: Some rechargeable batteries carry low or inconsistent voltages that may not properly power the device. Mixing different battery types (brands, old/new, etc.) is not recommended.
Is the rain gauge self emptying?

How far away from the display can the outdoor sensor be placed?
The outdoor sensor can be placed up to 330 feet away from the indoor display.
