I bought a pair of HomePods 2 to connect to an Apple TV 4K after a friend was bragging about how incredible his were. I’m really dissapointed. I have a 7.1 Atmos Soundbar in another room and this is not a replacement for a surround sound system or even a soundbar. Apple has a spatial audio setting that is supposed to enable Dolby Atmos. This is nothing like Dolby Atmos. The sound distinctively comes from either sides and you are lacking a center when watching a movie. On the positive side, the bass is pretty good, sometime a little too much bass actually. Apple being Apple, there are no settings to adjust the audio frequencies, other than “reduce bass”. I really don’t understand people who rave about these; they must have never had a sound system connected to their TV, in which case, I could understand: the sound is louder, with more bass, but it remains a two-speaker system.

I love Apple products. I think the quality is top of the line. When my Echo showed signs of dying, I investigated the HomePod for an AI Assistant replacement. The HomePod has the best sound when playing Apple Music. It's amazing what comes out of this thing and I was impressed; however, I'm used to Alexa/Echo answering my questions. Sometimes I ask cooking and recipe questions, or measurement conversions, etc. I hold a conversation with Alexa. Not with Siri. I asked it for a cooking temperature for steak I was grilling and it told me to ask it again on my iPhone and it would send me to a website to show me. I then began asking it typical questions I would ask Alexa. It kept directing me to my iPhone to ask it there so it could send me to a website with the information. Close to 300.00 to act as a mediator to direct me to my phone. If you're looking for a speaker, it has superb sound, but as an extension to your AI uses, it's completely useless. I purchased Amazon's Echo Studio and it's definitely the replacement I wanted with some great sound.

To preface: Im a die hard Apple ecosystem user. I have it all. So naturally I was excited to try this as I like my current homepod mini that is hooked up to my Apple TV. The mini just isnt loud enough for my ADHD need to listen to music while showering.. I have a large Gen 4 Amazon Echo in the Bathroom, for this, that I was looking to upgrade. I tried this device for 2-3 weeks before returning it. For starters: the sound quality and speaker volume wasnt much better than my HP Mini, and worse than my old Echo. It also had a lot of glitchy issues with Alarm settings and other features (some of this was eventually fixed with IOS 26.2 update), but the connectivity in general to my phone and other apple devices was very lacking at times. Also, dont even get me started with how inadequate Siri is as a smart assistant. I would ask it questions to often be told essentially to reask from my phone.. if I wasn’t busy getting ready or something and could do that I wouldnt be asking to begin with. Alexa especially with the Alexa + is so much more intuitive and helpful. I was really upset because I Really wanted this $300 device to meet expectations.. I exchanged it for the $100 cheaper Echo Studio (2025 edition) that now has Dolby Atmos and am far happier. Apple really dropped the ball on this device, and Siri in general.

Pros- Good sound, easy to hook up. Works well with Apple. I like the look of it. Cons-Needs two for good tv audio, Wont work with airpods mini and Tv. Cost its very expensive. And the fabric collects dust! Well I wouldn’t recommend this as the newer model is coming out soon.

Had to give it 2 stars for connection issues and price. The connection to your phone often lags or times out. Sound quality is decent but could be way better for the price, granted the soeaker does have buit in SIRI and sone iPhone capabilities like finding your phone However: the 300 dollar jbl speakers sound wayyy better. This speaker should be 150 but even then when it has connectivity issues it becomes a huge pain.

As I read through all the glowing reviews, I felt guilty about writing a review leaving only two stars for the Apple Home Pods 2nd Generation. I generally love Apple Products. I bought an iMac this year and previously owned another Apple iMac for 10 years. I really wanted to love these. And my review is coming after a month or so of trying to correct the issues that I'm having. The Home Pods, first of all, and according to my understanding, only work with Apple related products. But unfortunately, for my setup, they don't even work well with Apple products. I have an iMac running Ventura. They connect maybe about 40% of the time and during that 40% of time playing, there is constant loud interference, cutting out, and playing out of sync (I bought two). I have chatted with customer support and tried to make my way through chat rooms of other people having the same problems. As of yet, I'm still severely disappointed with these. The sound is great when they work. How I wish they would run smoothly. I bought two speakers on Amazon (non-Apple related) as a stereo pair. They never cut out, make weird noises, or play out of sync. And for two of them, they were less money that one of these. The sound isn't quite as good as on these HomePod speakers, but the sound is not bad at all.

Nothing special! The Good: Listening to music from a phone is ok overall It has great bass and ok on the rest The bad: Tv audio and Apple home is absolutely disappointing experience Home pod needs updates in Apple home to start using pod It takes all day for this thing to setup 9 hours to update and the pod didn’t show up after update After a second try and 9 more hours updating it finally show up in devices. Tv speakers are as good on every thing but the bass it is very frustrating to use for tv audio If your on the fence about this then I would suggest checking out the new Samsung music frame Much better for around same price Home pod is outside in my gardening shed now

Honestly, I am a big Apple fan, I have everything Apple, that out of the way, this thing was good when it worked, but it had numerous issues making it hard to recommend. From connectivity issues, to the way it operated. A capacitor blew after a month of owning it.

I wanted to love this. I obsessed over watching all the YouTube reviews. I already own a HomePod mini which i love, so naturally i would love the new larger HomePod 2, right? WRONG! I returned it 24 hours after buying it. The sound quality is not much better than my HomePod mini and it’s three times the price. My sonos1 has more bass and my Bose soundlunk mini is much richer sounding. And i had trouble syncing my two HomePods because apple wanted me to upgrade to their Family Plan in Apple Music. I was told that you really need to buy TWO HomePods to hear something amazing. NO THANKS! Not spending $600+tax on mediocre speakers. I also have a pair of klipsch R15pm’s with a wireless klipsch subwoofer. This setup blows me away. If you’re an audiophile, then you would enjoy the crisp sound of this setup and it cost me less than $600. I will definitely buy another HomePod mini so i can pair them for stereo sound in my coveted outdoor patio. Sorry Apple, but you missed the mark on this one.

The HomePod delivers excellent sound quality, especially if your main goal is a “smart” speaker that handles basic HomeKit commands and streams seamlessly from Apple Music. For those firmly in the Apple ecosystem, it does its job well. Unfortunately, the experience feels limited. Third-party support is minimal, and there are very few apps that really take advantage of the HomePod. That lack of flexibility was a deal-breaker for me. I eventually sold mine and switched to two Denon 150 speakers in a paired setup, which offered far better sound performance (though to be fair, two speakers will almost always outshine one). If you’re all-in on Apple services, the HomePod can be a solid choice. But if you’re looking for broader support or more versatility, there are better options out there.

Siri is terrible. You will tell her to do one thing and she will do the complete opposite. The sound quality of the speaker is good, especially when you turn on Lossless Audio with Apple Music, but you’re better off buying a hi-fi speaker that you can do what you want with, because Apple refuses to allow auxiliary input so you’re stuck with Siri for the time being. I returned my Homepod and got the HomePod Mini, which is significantly cheaper and has a much better value.

I am a Apple guy. I have purchased lots of Apple products. The reason for a two rating is connectivity. I purchased 2 of them. I could not get the HomePods to turn on with my Apple tv, iPad, or iPhone with any sort of consistency. When they were connected they would cut out on a regular basis. Very frustrating. They sound good. Wifi with any other electronics in the home are not the problem. I spent $600 for two of them. I returned them to Best Buy. I have never returned a Apple product,

First off the sound is amazing...that's where the good times end. It's the glitchiest device I've ever purchased even using it with an iPhone and Macbook pro. If you unplug it, be prepared to have to hard reset it every time. It barely connects to a MAC computer and when it does there's a 2-3 second lag time.

Connecting was EASY! I did love the fact I could use my phone while and watch video while the music still played. I am a BASS girl and the bass was POOR. I returned and bought the Harman & Kardon Aura Stuido 5 and omg a beauty

This thing freezes up all the time on gog connections and now it doesn’t “dislike” songs for me like it used to. It’s just a very expensive speaker now.

It's dead. Sounds good while it lasts. FYI. The My Best Buy Total membership on Apple products is worthless. They will not help you with it. It ends up only delaying repairs or replacement. Buy Apple products on Amazon. They are cheaper. Buy AppleCare directly or through Amazon. You will ultimately get better and faster service by going directly to Apple for help.

Terrible experience with HomePod. It frequently loses connection even when sitting next to the router. De-syncs from other HomePods 12+ times per day, stops playing, and then starts randomly playing another playlist. Volume goes way up and then way down between songs. Laggy controls from iPhone even when using airplay. Just a terrible product, made even more frustrating by the high expectations Apple gives for things in their “ecosystem.” I bought Sonos speakers as replacements and have had zero issues. Should have gone with Sonos at the start.

It was a great device for the first 1.5 years but recently it has started randomly playing music without prompt and often it randomly plays music at night waking me up. Unfortunately, Apple support has been useless and its outside of the one year warranty. A Google search shows numerous Apple support threads and Reddit threads about this.

I was not impressed. When it connected to my I phone thru airplay it was so so! Low end bottom a little better than my ECHO Studio. Overall ease of use and reliability as to connecting the Echo Studio blew the doors off the Apple Home Pod. For $100 less ECHO was the better buy. I returned my HomePod and bought an Echo Studio and an Echo Sub.

The sounds is good but the fact that you need to only use AirPlay was annoying, I was expecting to be connected just like how we use our AirPods but nope, so I sent it back.
