The Optimus Prime of Wi Fi 7 Gen
I bought this router to upgrade from a AX-82U and to future proof as I upgrade my router every 5 years and hopefully every 7-10 years with this router. I also use my previous router as a AiMesh node for extra coverage/emergency router (see below). Asus is very good about firmware updates and you can always opt out of stuff during initial setup. You can share info with Asus or choose not to, you just have to log in to router via desktop browser for best results. A year later, during a power outage from rainstorm I rebooted the router to get it working but it ended up bricked with just power light blinking no matter what. So anyway, I had NOT purchased the BB warranty and was at the will and mercy of Asus. I called them and got a return authorized as I was still under manufacturers warranty. I had to pay for shipping to Asus, $25 but they ended up sending me a replacement unit of the non BB version of router. It took close to 3 weeks total process and in the meantime I used my "old" AX-82U as my main router after a quick reset, till I received the replacement RT-BE88U. Get the warranty if you don't have a back up router or want to quickly replace it should something happen. This is my 3rd Asus router and they have always been great to deal with. The number of ports on the back means less switches running around and less cables. After receiving the replacement I definitely notice how much zippier the internet is from the 82U going back to the BE88U so I know the money is going somewhere. I'm in a one story house so I get signal in all areas of home and yard (this includes 82U node). I currently only have 3 WiFi 7 devices so the full potential is yet to be unlocked until further evolution down the road and devices are upgraded. So far about 25+ devices in home, all butter smooth.

Excellent in all the ways that matter!
This router works, right out of the box. Absolutely no issues. I upgraded from my decade old RT-AC87U. It served very well considering it was putchased in 2014! This router is the exact same thing as the RT-BE88U. I dont know why Best Buy had to be different with the RT-BE7200 model number, but they are the same thing. It complicates price match because some people do not understand that they are the same, but its obvious. The router sets up very quickly with the asus app. You have to enable ipv6, security, etc, but everything worked fine right out of the box. Looks sleek and I really like that the heat dissipates ABOVE the device to the open air. Heat rises, great! Be sure to use the asus app to do the initial setup. One firmware upgrade and it’s smart to do that before optimizing the network, so thats great! High speeds, minus the 6Ghz band. Its fine, it just needed to replace the RT-AC87U and wow what an upgrade it is! Everytjing connected and i just turned off the extra IoT network, don’t need it. Maybe I’ll turn it back on for the other random IoT devices, but it probably wouldn’t work since its a separate network from your main network (similar to a guest network). This router gets the job done in all the ways that matter! So glad I now have a stable wifi connection at home once again!! Thank you ASUS!!

Range and speed
I used to have an RX-AX58U router, but it was causing me headaches due to signal interference from the second floor. However, with the newer RT-BE7200 router, my PC is finally achieving a stable 1GBPS connection! I should mention that I have a 1.2GBPS fiber plan.
