The Bulova 98A179 is a centerpiece of the Maquina Collection this model features a "skeleton" design, but it opts for a much darker, stealthier color palette often referred to as "Gunmetal" or "Anthracite."

The entire watch—case and bracelet—is finished in a gunmetal grey PVD/Ion plating. This gives it a matte, modern look that is less "flashy" than gold-tone models but has a very strong wrist presence.
The dial is almost entirely open, showcasing the mechanical gears, the mainspring, and the escapement. Unlike "Open Heart" models that only show a small window, this is a "Full Skeleton."
Despite the complex background of the gears, the silver-tone hands and index markers are treated with luminous material, providing a sharp contrast against the dark movement parts.
The back of the watch is transparent glass, allowing you to see the oscillating weight (rotor) that winds the watch as you move.
