Connecting two computers or two switches directly, with no router in between? This Cable Leader Cat 5e crossover Ethernet cable, also sold as a Cat5e crossover LAN cable or RJ45 network cord, swaps the transmit and receive pairs so two like devices can talk on older gear without Auto-MDIX. It uses four twisted pairs of 24 AWG bare copper rated to 350 MHz, above the 100 MHz Cat 5e standard, with snagless molded boots and 50-micron gold-plated RJ45 contacts. Fits any RJ45 port on Cisco, Netgear, TP-Link, Linksys, D-Link, HP, Dell and Ubiquiti equipment. Carries high speed Gigabit Ethernet up to 100 m and fits any Cat 5e, Cat 6 or Cat 6a jack, Cat6 and Cat6a ports alike. Stocked in 3 ft to 100 ft lengths, including 3, 10, 25 and 50 ft, from short patch cables to long Ethernet cables between rooms. Best for: PC to PC file transfer, switch to switch uplinks and legacy lab gear. Not for: connecting a computer, console or TV to a router or modem (use a standard patch cable), plenum or outdoor runs.
Transmit and receive pairs are swapped end to end, so two like devices connect directly. Four twisted pairs of 24 AWG bare copper rated to 350 MHz against the 100 MHz Cat 5e standard, carrying Gigabit Ethernet with 50-micron gold-plated RJ45 contacts on both ends.
Older network cards, hubs and switches without Auto-MDIX need a crossover cable to talk to each other directly. Use it for a quick PC to PC file transfer, a switch to switch uplink, or bench testing, with no router or switch in the middle.
Fits Cisco, Netgear, TP-Link, Linksys, D-Link, HP, Dell and Ubiquiti RJ45 ports. Quick check: PC to PC with no router - Yes. Switch to switch on legacy gear - Yes. PC, console or TV to router or modem - No, use a standard patch cable. Plenum run - No. Outdoor - No.
The most common way a patch cable dies is the plastic release tab snapping off, after which the plug will not stay seated. Molded snagless boots cover that tab so it does not catch on a cable bundle or bench edge while you pull the cable out.
Each cable is sample-tested during production for continuity and wire map. Manufactured to RoHS environmental standards. If your cable arrives defective or stops working in normal use, Cable Leader handles replacement requests directly, no manufacturer redirects.
