This Cat 6 shielded Ethernet patch cable - also sold as a Cat6 LAN cable, internet cable or RJ45 network cord - moves Gigabit traffic over a 24 AWG stranded bare copper core tested to 550 MHz, well beyond the 250 MHz the Cat 6 standard asks for. Foil shielding wraps all four twisted pairs, so the run stays clean beside power cabling, inside metal racks and near motors or ballasts where unshielded cords pick up noise. Each RJ45 plug carries 50-micron gold-plated contacts wired to T568B, and a snagless molded boot shields the locking tab so it does not snap when the cable is pulled back out of a packed patch panel. Backward compatible with Cat 5e and ready for Cat6a ports. Compatible with Cisco, Netgear, TP-Link, Ubiquiti, Linksys, ASUS, Synology and QNAP hardware. Stocked in 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10ft, 14, 15, 20, 25, 50 and 100 ft - short jumpers through long Ethernet cables between rooms. Measure the path the cable travels, not the straight line. Best for: structured wiring, server rooms and patch panels. Not for: in-wall runs, outdoors, or 10 Gigabit across a full 100 m.
Four twisted pairs of 24 AWG stranded bare copper - not copper-clad aluminum - tested to 550 MHz against the 250 MHz the Cat 6 standard requires. Carries 1 Gigabit Ethernet to 100 m and 10 Gigabit on short runs of roughly 55 m. RJ45 contacts are plated with 50 microinches of gold and wired straight through to T568B, so it drops into an existing structured-wiring plant without re-terminating anything.
The STP construction wraps all four pairs in foil, which is what separates this cable from an ordinary unshielded patch cord. It is the version to reach for when the run shares a tray with power cabling, passes through a metal rack, or sits near motors, fluorescent ballasts, welders or medical equipment - the places where crosstalk and electromagnetic interference show up as dropped packets rather than as a dead link.
Quick check. In a rack, patch panel, server room or workshop? Yes. Behind a router, switch, modem, NAS or wall jack? Yes. Permanently inside a wall or ceiling? No - that needs in-wall rated cable. Buried, or run outdoors and exposed to weather? No. Need 10 Gigabit across a full 100 m? No - choose Cat 6a. Works with Cisco, Netgear, TP-Link, Ubiquiti, Linksys, ASUS, Synology and QNAP gear, and with any standard RJ45 port.
The most common way a patch cable dies is the little plastic release tab shearing off, and after that the plug will not stay seated. A molded snagless boot covers that tab so it does not catch on a cable bundle or a panel edge while you pull the cable back out. The same boot keeps the cord from tangling with its neighbours during moves, adds and changes.
Cable Leader sample-tests each production run for continuity and correct T568B pin order before it ships. If a cable arrives dead or fails in service, Cable Leader handles the replacement directly - there is no need to work through a third party. Tell us the length and colour you received and we will send a replacement.
