I love this lens. It's a heavy lens, but very much worth having for landscape, official group/individual portraits, and more. I use it with my Canon 70D and am very proud of the investment and photographic adventures ahead. This is a must buy for serious photographers.

What an upgrade from the 18-55 kit. Sharp, contrasty and solid. 700 is alot but for 600 on sale im not too upset. L series glass on a crop but not weather sealed so doesnt get the credit. Some reviews on the web mention a dust issue in front element but i have yet to have an issue.

This is a great lens, takes sharp pictures, great for low light and up close action shots however I have found that the weather sealing does allow dust into the lens if you are shooting outdoor sports. I primarily shoot motor sports, landscapes and nature. I have some issues with dust entering the lens barrel and have been able to remove it with air and vacuum. You wont notice it at first, several websites say a filter eliminates this, not so true, after a while of shooting outdoors you may start to notice dust collecting on the extending barrel. Keep that area clean because as the barrel extends in and out it creates a vacuum and will pull in particulates. If you are meticulous about keeping it clean and do add a filter it will stay fairly clean. If you plan on doing a lot of outdoor work you may want to look for a different lens. I'm keeping mine, I still really like this lens even with this flaw, I cant see spending $500 more for a sealed lens without stabilization. Maybe I should have looked at the Sigs or Tamrons? However still a good lens with a minor flaw, how much would the seal have cost Canon, two dollars? I see a marketing plan here at work,,,

This is an absolutely outstanding lens, a terrific replacement for the kit lens that came with my T4i. I was considering the Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L lens, however the cost was out of my range (even with the Canon rebate). I must say that I am very impressed with the substantially improved image quality over the kit lens (it is wonderful to have a lens that allows the camera to realize it's true potential). The constant f2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range has made low light photography a real joy. No need to increase the ISO above 400 which is nearly as clear as 100 on the T4i. It is a bit larger and quite a bit heavier than the kit lens. This is a small price to pay as it balances very nicely in the hand and is very well built. A real winner in my opinion!

I bought this lens so when I am in low lighting I have no problem getting a good photo in, preferably with a lower ISO setting. The kit lens can only use the larger aperture at 18mm, so this one I can set it to 2.8 and use it constantly. The focusing is very quick. Very, very quiet. Image stabilization is great. The only down side is the lens is SO heavy. I think it weighs more than my camera and kit lens put together. So unfortunately, after a long time of shooting, your hands will start to hurt. Especially shooting an event. Also there are times, when weight can affect how still you hold the camera. I think I am going to continue to use my kit lens in the studio for basic portraits, but if the this lens is needed I will definitely pull it out.

This lens is amazing. I took this on a trip and shot with it and the results came back just perfect. I would recommend anyone with a crop sensor camera to get this in their collection of lenses.

Great lens for everyday. Good bokeh and very quiet. Focus is fast. A little heavier than a kit lens but it’s understandable because of the quality. Love the constant aperture.

This lens rocks. Focuses and takes pictures very fast and works great in an indoor, low light setting.

This is my favorite lens from the first time I used it. It is the one that spends most of the time on my camera. Great lens whether it is day or night.

This lens is sharp, and fast. The 2.8 aperture is great for low light situations (especially portraits). The lens is much larger and heavier than the 18mm-55mm kit lens that comes standard with most Canon Rebel cameras, but the added performance is well worth it.

very good picture return! This lens is one that I keep on my camera almost all the time.

The reviews from others about this lens are correct. It basically performs like a high end lens for a fraction of the price. It’s great Canon made a lens for the cropped sensor cameras that can compete with the L series lenses. I’m overall very happy with my purchase. This lens is pretty much my go-to lens for my landscape photography. It also does well if you shoot portraits. I highly recommend this lens to anyone who has a Canon cropped sensor camera and wants the most pro level standard lens you can get for the camera. You will not regret your purchase.

This is a great lens. I was skeptical at first because of the price but After reading reviews, I decided to go for it. It is an easy lens to use and takes great pictures. The pictures are very sharp and look great. I'm trying to get away from using the auto mode and learn to use the Manual setting. So far everything that I have taken in manual had turned out picture perfect. I would recommend this lens to add to a collection!

This has become my new walk around lens thanks to its awesome reach and aperture! A little on the heavier side but it definitely feels sturdy.

Shot about 600 photos at a Class Reunion last week in all kinds of lighting ( indoor and outdoor ) from very near closeups to groups in all kinds of speeds from still to rock and roll dancing with NO flash. Focus was fast with the depth of field that I was looking for !!! and the colors in some cases looked better than the actual viewed by the human eye. Camera body was a Canon 80D

I have always wanted this lens, but it wasn't until I started shooting indoor sports for my kids that I could justify it. Even then the price was hard to swallow, but Canon had a massive instant rebate, so between that and Best Buy's no interest financing made it a painless purchase. Very sharp and fast lens. If you have an APS-C Canon, and you can afford it, I highly recommend it.

It’s perfect! Not the fastest auto focus, it does hunt for the focus, but way better than any kit lens and with a 2.8f it’s a dream when it comes to the portraits. This is my go to lens until I get my Canon 70-200mm 2.8f Definitely worth the money! 100% would recommend as a step up from your kit lens!
