I've been a Canon shooter for many years and have found their photography equipment to be of high quality, durable and reliable. Canon also has outstanding customer service and support. In addition to my recent purchases of two Canon EOS R bodies, I also have a 5D Mark IV, 7D Mark II and the holy trinity collection of Canon "L" lenses. In my opinion, the "R" has received a bad rap from supposedly professional reviewers, especially with Canon's recent firmware updates that have made significant improvements since the R's initial introduction. Pros: 1. The body feels so good in the hand, not too large and not to small. Just right! Lenses balance well on the body. 2. Image quality (stills) is outstanding and more than enough dynamic range to deal with highlights and shadows. 3. I'm probably biased, but I think Canon's color science is the best in the industry. 4. Fast and accurate auto focus especially with the recent 1.4 firmware update. Subject tracking and eye detection is excellent. 5. The EF/EF-S to R lens adapter allows you to use all of the EF/EF-S lenses with no loss in functionality. 6. The electronic viewfinder resolution is outstanding and the ability to see exactly what your image will look like before taking the shot is a game changer versus an optical viewfinder on a DSLR. 7. The articulating LCD screen is high resolution and allows you to get the shot at any difficult angle. 8. If you have the funds I also recommend the new Canon RF lenses. I also purchased the RF 24-105mm f/4L lens and it is outstanding and a great focal length for a walk-around lens. 9. The touch & drag function to move the focus point is much speedier than a joy stick and is easy to use. 10. Shooting in lowlight conditions is outstanding and very minimal noise in higher ISO ranges. Cons: 1. Some complain about only having a single card slot which I can understand if you're a paid photographer. However, if you need redundancy you can use wifi to easily send to your cell phone as you shoot. 2. Some have complained about the crop factor when using 4K video. I don't do video with my cameras so really not fair of me to comment. For the money, the Canon EOS R is a deal!!

I recently had the chance to try out this camera, and overall, I’m impressed with its performance. The image quality is excellent, with sharp details and vibrant colors even in low light conditions. The autofocus is fast and accurate, which makes it great for action shots or capturing quick moments.

I've been wanting to upgrade to the Canon R line since they announced it and finally have. The R is nothing short of spectacular. This rig is super light, boasts a 30.3 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, has an ISO range of 40,000 (!!), a dual pixel CMOS AF system, can shoot up to 4K 30P and 10-bit movie footage in ITU-R BT.2020 color when Canon Log setting is activated. Not to mention that I can still use most of my old canon stuff; filters, batteries, hotshoe, etc. The only thing I did need to purchase was the lens converter, RF to EF, which was only $100 and lets you use the entire EF line of canon lenses. To say less, this canon packs quite the punch. I would highly recommend for anyone in, or outside, of the canon family looking for that next upgrade.

Easy to use, handles well, takes great pictures. The multi function bar that some people are allergic to is easy to use and very helpful. My EF mount lenses work perfectly. Get the adapter with the control ring, it is worth the extra $100. Only have one RF lens so far, but will get another soon. I picked this over the RP mainly because of the newer and better sensor, the secondary shutter (protects the sensor when you change lenses), and the better EVF and LCD.

As a long time Canon shooter, I was unsure about taking the plunge into Canon's first entry into the mirrorless world. I'm glad I did. Some features that I enjoy include: -Slightly more compact body. -The seemingly infinite focal points -Touch screen -The swivel LCD screen (makes shooting from low and high vantage points so much easier) -The ability to use existing lenses with the included adaptor. While I do miss the dual card slot, I have no regrets purchasing this camera!

It's certainly not the best mirrorless Canon has to offer, but it's about $1k cheaper than the R6 and $2k cheaper than the R5. At 30 mpx it has great resolution. Low light performance is very good. I have no problem shooting at 6400 ISO and 12800 looks good in many situations too. 5 fps in servo mode isn't stellar, but I'm not a pro shooting sports or birds in flight all day long. I'm using it mainly for wildlife with adapted stabilized lenses. Outstanding results. The lenses perform better adapted than they did on my 6D II. All in all, this is a great way to get onto the Canon full frame mirrorless platform. No regrets whatsoever. However, I don't care that much about video, so there's that.

I shot Nikon cameras for years, and was a loyal fan to the brand, refusing to buy another brand, when mirrorless came out big I decided to move to it, I used the 3 major brands Canon, Nikon and Sony, the first that I drop was the Sony (a7iii) awful camera to hold, nasty menus and the colors no bueno, then I had to decide between Z6 and Eos R, I was bias so I got the Nikon, really good camera, use it for over a year, then I realized that Nikon is barely moving they way behind and everybody is up dating and moving forward with the platform and Nikon keeps delaying and stuck, Im not fan of adapting lenses, it's a pain specially for event shooters, then I start noticing that lots of creators on YouTube were moving back to Canon and praising the how God the camera had gotten, I rented the EOS R for one week, boom, I sold my Nikon gear and bought into the EOS R... I. In love with the camera, handling, colors and overall experience no wonder why Canon has so many users, for now I'm a happy camper, Nikon is good but it's future its uncertain, can't risk and invest all this money on a system that it might be here or it might not, the specs of the EOS R are pretty disappointing but it's actual Performace and quality specially the lenses are top notch, you don't know what to get? Get a Canon thank me later.

This camera is great! I got it on sale for black friday 2020 and it takes stunning photos as well as videos! The 30 Megapixels capture so much detail. C-log has really impressed me with how good it makes my videos look.

Purchased EOS R as upgrade to my Canon 6D, mostly because I need a lighter weight DSLR. Purchased body and Lens amount Adapter since I cannot afford the RF lenses. Comfortable weight, easy to use, Multi-Function bar not too practical. Needs to have updated Firmware to address a AF function, which can be installed via Canon’s website, but the newly announced R5 resolves the AF function. Wish I knew about R5, still the R is suitable upgrade from my 6D

I use this camera for professional work regardless of what the critics say. I use the Viltrox adapter to mount EF lenses and the quality is sharp even without IBIS and RF stabilization. I highly recommend this camera for enthusiasts and professionals.

To start with the overall experience using Canon EOS R 30.3 Mega Pixel full-frame Camera! (Except 4K crop, which I felt negligible) is good! It may Not be always possible to met all requirements in a single product all times! Missing needs! - Has only one slot for SD memory card (Having dual slot helps as a backup, at times) - The performance of the new touch slider may not be quiet effective in controlling ISO, or other parameters, due to its ineffective unlocking trick!

I got this camera as an upgrade from my Canon Rebel T3i, and can I just say that the difference is night and day. I paired this with the RF 85mm f/2 Lens, and it is a beautiful combo. If you are upgrading from an older camera, don’t worry about the people saying it is slow, it won’t feel slow in comparison. Included are a few photos taken with the R + the RF 85mm lens

I have been pleasantly surprised for the way this camera operates. Very easy menus to navigate, crisp vibrant colors. Canon technology is the best. Paired with a sigma 150-600mm lens with an adapter and works very good. I have been able to use my old ef mount canon Lenses.

Coming from traditional Canon film and digital SLRS, this took some adjustment to get used to. Buttons and dials are different and in different places, touch screen is more versatile, etc. seems like everything is customizable. But, as i use it, I see how to customize it for my style and shooting situations. Feels sturdy and produces awesome pictures.

Waited to write review until I had it a little while. I was so concerned about buying the R knowing the R6 had been released. I’m thrilled I purchased it! It is a beast. Definitely worth the purchase! Now to grab some RF glass! Don’t worry about the R not being the latest! The specs speak for themselves! Uploaded Portrait taken with EOS R!
