Amazing game, great story and mechanics. This game will be loved by those who have played the inFamous series since it will somehow feel familiar, just without the open-world.

Control is a great game. I would not call this a AAA game, but it is definitely a AA game. This is not a criticism, but the honest truth for the scope of it. Gaming needs more AA games that are complete experiences. The story is pretty interesting, and Jesse manages to be a good vessel for the player. Side characters rarely standout, but they are not suppose to over shadow. Game play is really strong yet nothing special. I died probably about 10 times in total. Most all of these were to one enemy type that is nearly impossible to track because it is invisible. Powers are fun and exciting. With fun powers, it makes up for the lack luster weapon design. I got the platinum for this game, and I would do it once more. Solid 8/10 Pros - Jesse - Powers - Boss Fights - Labyrinth Cons - Guns - Invisible Enemy - Hidden Areas - Not enough outfits for Jesse

I own this game for PC. I didn't really get into it much but I thought it was decent for what I paid in 2020 ($30 on sale). I picked up this PS4 version at BB for the wallet-busting sum of $8 a couple days ago. I am not good at FPS or TPS games when using a controller so I wasn't expecting to play much past an hour before giving up due to controller aiming issues on my part... I was wrong! I still suck at aiming but I opted to leave all the extra aim assist turned off. I realized that if I just took my time and used cover to my advantage, I could get the job done. My play isn't pretty but I got to the first boss-type guy and beat him in two or three tries. I totally surprised myself! I guess patience pays off. So, my first session lasted almost four hours with plenty of dying and running around like an idiot. I remembered a lot of the missions and cut scenes from my time playing on PC. That helped me find things a bit faster than I would have otherwise. I was surprised to be able to enjoy this game on console when I'm so used to a mouse and keyboard as I game almost exclusively on PC. I usually use the PS4 for more casual games like Child of Light and Hellblade or fighting games such as Tekken or Street Fighter. In conclusion, this game is a blast on console! The story was more engaging and I seemed to pay more attention to details than when playing on PC. Maybe it was being more relaxed on the couch instead of sitting on my beat up 'gaming' chair. Either way, I recommend it!

Control has essentially ticked a of my boxes as far as what I want a game to be. With absolutely stunning world building, characters, and abilities, Control has 100% climbed it's way to one of my favori of the year. Unfortunately the performance on the PS4 reduces that effect. I understand why though, what can be done with this game is SO intense that producing so many effects and characters on screen at once would affect performance unless you had a super high grade PC. I'm still GREATLY enjoying this title though. Would recommend.

Adventuring around and exploring is awesome, the world building is clever and deep enough to be interesting but not over the top where it’s overwhelming. Combat is fun, frame rate on PS4 has some issues but the game itself is fantastic. Very surprised by this game.

The graphics in this are so good! The controls are a little like Uncharted when it comes to shooting. Nothing that will earn a Destiny type mechanics in accuracy award, but the story is intriguing and you look past that.

This game has great controls, awesome story and combat and is constantly interesting and entertaining. There were initially some framerate issues but most of that was cleaned up with the latest patch.

Control is a good game with solid controls, gameplay and engaging story. I can’t say it reinvents the wheel, but if you’re bored, control will definitely scratch your itch to play

Loved almost everything about this game. The powers were a lot of fun, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The only downside is the frame rate dips are an annoyance.

Third person action game about a woman taking a job at a Fringe-like organization uncovering mysteries and learning more about the strange events that took place in her childhood. The interesting, well-balanced combat elevates the score but the game takes place in the "Oldest House" a building with super natural properties that I was ultimately disappointed with. There's really only one part where this is actually put to good use after the devs talked it up so much. Looks ok, runs ok on PS4Pro, story is above average but didn't blow me away like some folks. 7/10

This is a short grinder game. The developer focuses too much on the cut scenes and collectibles to tell a boring story. The first few hours of the game are outstanding and I couldn't put the game down. By the end, the game was grinding me down so the short overall play time worked out well. I can see this release as a short beta for a franchise. The game is worth playing but not as a top game. This came out about the same time as Wolfenstein Youngblood. I can see overlap between the two - short grinding titles yet both entertaining.

This game is very fun and on-brand for what to expect from a game from Remedy. The destruction physics are the absolute best I’ve ever seen, the gun mechanics and sound design are pretty good, and the mind bending story is enough to keep you engaged throughout. My only complaint is that the game sometimes suffers frame rate drops when there’s a lot going on, but it’s only on base model consoles. Not the PS4 Pro. All in all, I highly suggest this game to anyone into psychologically warped science fiction and third person shooting action!

great writing and world building. relatively fun to play, but wish it ran better and that there was more variety in the fight sequences.

Remedy provides some of the best third person narrative driven gaming experiences out there. Control is a fantastic culmination of their past offerings and provides a game with a very fresh setting with solid gameplay. As of this review date the game does not perform that well at times and requires a stability patch (on the PS4 at least). I'd give this game a 10/10 but have to consider the performance. If you waited this long to get it, make sure it's patched or wait a bit longer.

One of the best games I’ve played this year. Very responsive controls, interesting story and all around fun game play.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this game. Super creepy and spot on shooting and controls.

Control ended up being one of my favorite games of all time, and I’ve played every new AAA game for a while now. I love anything spooky, paranormal, etc, but I’m not big into horror. So this hit the perfect balance between those two. Remedy has made classic games that I love before, ie Alan Wake, but Control blows it out of the park. When the game finished I found myself immediately searching online for info about the upcoming DLC. Can’t wait for more.

This is a title you need to consider picking up after Remedy releases some optimization fixes for it. It is currently a crapshoot of a time trying to navigate combat and the game just falls apart. The story itself is pretty fun, and the game play is phenomenal, but the limitations on PS4 Pro were so glaring that I'd recommend waiting or playing on PC.

This is the most engaged I’ve been with a game in months. I buy literally everything and often find myself bouncing across multiple titles. You know a game is good when it causes you to stop and focus all of your available time and attention on seeing it through. I found myself still up at 4AM after purchasing and for the first time since xenoblade 2 took the time to 100% before moving to the next title on my shelf. I’ll be replaying this for sure and really can’t say much without spoiling but if you’re a fan of a well written story you owe it to yourself to play this one.

This game is all about its creepy design and atmosphere. Scary, weird, confusing - Control is gripping because of its ability to make you feel so many different things. The gameplay is good; you gradually become this all-powerful Director as you further unlock your skill tree.
