I can say with confidence that this game is memorable in a way that only a couple games over the past decade have been for me. This game grabs ahold of your psyche in a way that few others can and, once you unlock your abilities and learn to properly utilize them, you truly understand the title of the game.

Control has an incredible feel to it in terms of story. The world it creates, all from within the Control facility, feels so very fleshed out and vast. You will be doing yourself a disservice if you don't seek out and read every document, watch every video, and find every secret. It is such fun to find easter eggs joining Control's world with other Remedy titles. The combat can be fun. It can be frantic and require you to make the right choices or be forced to start over at the last checkpoint. When you have all of your powers, you can feel like a superhero, however, obtaining those powers takes a while. The game has performance issues, with noticeable frame drops during busy sequences. This is especially true on the base consoles, which makes me only able to truly recommend the game on PS4 Pro, XB1X, or PC. While a mostly fun mystery to unfold, Control has a problem with unfair difficulty spikes with many of its boss fights. Instead of losing the battle because you were off your game, Control's bosses instead like to rely on throwing unlimited waves of smaller enemies at you, and also making the battle arenas prone to deadly pit falls. I say definitely check out Control if you have one of the advanced console or a PC, and save yourself some frustration and play on easy mode.

If you enjoyed other Remedy games such as Allen Wake and Quantum Break, then you will definitely like the story of Control. As far as gameplay, it is a 3rd person action-adventure platformer using guns, powers, and slight puzzle-solving mechanics. I enjoyed the game. It is very similar to Quantum Break as far as gameplay. If the only thing you didn't like about quantum break was the last boss fight, then you will enjoy this game.

I did not think I would enjoy Control as much as I did. I knew I would like it, but I found myself looking forward to getting back to it when I wasn't playing during the day. The story is the true star, it's very engaging and often I wanted to keep playing just to see what was next. I found myself hunting for each collectible not to get an achievement, but just so I could read more cool/funny things about the world they built. Gameplay is a lot of fun and it never got that repetitive with new abilities or upgrades being introduced slowly. You also use those abilities to explore new areas in The Oldest House, the game's setting, which is a character on it's own. I have heard some people have issues with frame rate drops and bugs, and I did experience a bug that won't let me complete a side mission, but I'm still giving it 5 stars because it's that good (also playing on an Xbox One X so that probably helped avoid issues). They have a mid-September patch planned to address these issues if you are worried. Overall a very solid single player experience that I would recommend to anyone (especially those who have played Remedy's other games like Alan Wake or Quantum Break).

Having a blast playing this. Story is very interesting, confusing, but in a good way. It deals with some trippy astral plane stuff. Controls : ) are solid. Physics are spot on with ripping chunks of wall out and throwing it at enemies. Good story telling, which is expected from Remedy. Highly recommend.

This game can be tough at the beginning but once you level up your character, it becomes fun. I liked that it reminded me of the twilight zone with it's atmosphere and all the weird things that happen throughout the game. Good luck finding the Easter eggs and secrets, there are quite a few. The combat in this game is sometimes hectic, always keep moving and you will survive. Keep in mind this is an exploration game but the combat is fun, you might not like getting lost at times since certain areas are closed off early in the game and require new abilities to be unlocked in order to progress. Overall it's a solid game, there a references in the game to Alan Wake, this game takes place in the same universe, but with a different play style.

If you’re tired of cookie cutter action games, then this will be a breath of fresh air. I absolutely love this game. It is akin to Prey and Vampyr in supernatural tone but takes a more X-files-like approach. The combat is fluid and makes the most of paranormal talents like telekinesis. There is a frame rate issue coming out of menus, but it doesn’t affect gameplay or enjoyment. It’s sad this game hasn’t sold more, it’s one of the true hidden gems of the generation. This is one of the rare games I will be buying DLC for when it comes out both to support them and because it was that good (I finished the game with all achievements unlocked). If you want a fun, thought provoking game with a good story buy this game and show that innovative concepts still have a place in the video game landscape.

Control is created by Remedy, the developers of Max Payne 1, Max Payne 2, Alan Wake and Quantum Break. Needless to say, they're known for creating quality third-person action games. Just like the aforementioned games, Control is an exemplary third-person action game with outstanding storytelling chops. Unlike their previous games, Control offers a tad bit more exploration off the beaten path. Control is more of a Metroidvania in level design. You have a map, areas that you won't be able to gain access to until later in the game, fast travel, etc. While it's a challenging game at times, it's not excruciatingly difficult -- though the checkpoints are a bit Souls-esque. If you're for a game that tells a great story, plays great, and looks great doing it, Control is a necessary play.

I love Remedy games. Max Payne, Alan Wake and even some parts of Quantum Break. This games takes all the lessons they learned from previous games and improves upon a perfect technical execution. The atmosphere, sound design and game is perfect. The story is bit of a miss on my part, but the world they created is very interesting. Visually game looks stunning on Xbox One X, but you can tell that this game would have benefited from next generation of consoles. There are multiple issues with stuttering and FPS drops during hectic fight sequences.

If you're reading this you definitely have to play this game if you haven't. Gameplay mechanics are tight and responsive. It has scary and creepy moments. You level up your character and upgrade your weapons and powers. There's always that feeling and desire of exploring to see what else you could find whether it's resources or a different entrance to somewhere else. Story wise is interesting to me but also complicated for my taste. But I did not played it for the story. The game has puzzles, action, platforming, etc all in one. Great, great game. Period.

A great game, refreshing in the aspect that it’s different than most every other recent release. Aside from the performance issues (low frames at times, mostly when there’s a lot of enemies) there’s no complaints, and from what I have heard this may have been fixed with the latest update. It was a fun game and challenging at times. The story can leave a bit to be desired, but I imagine some of that will be covered with future DLC. There’s quite a bit of game play, the story is a good length and to fully compete the game is much more.

This game snuck into my year, not one of the top sellers, but by far the most fun I've had all year. The story is creative. Different styles of combat. Enough side quests to keep you interested but not overloaded. If you liked Resident Evil 2, you'll love this. You move from room to room, but there is no jump scares (This was a positive for me.). It makes you feel uneasy and creeped out. The visuals are phenomenal. I need DLC, right now.

The game went on sale quickly after I bought it from Best Buy. But it's so enjoyable, so well written, so pretty... The studio earned the full $60 price, ever dollar of it. I'm maybe halfway through and it just keeps getting better.

This 3rd person action/shooter exceeded my expectations. Cool story, fun and challenging combat, with some quirky side characters. My only complaints is it gets a bit easy later in the game as your character gets more powerful, long load times, and some glitching through the environments. I fell through the floor a few times into the abyss.

Interesting game with good controls and graphics, but it gets too hard too fast. I wish it had difficulty levels, so I you could turn on an easy mode and just enjoy the story, rather than having to play a level over and over again.

I haven’t played a Remedy game since Max Payne, but I thought I’d check this out because the story seemed cool. I’m not entirely sure what’s happening yet, but I’m looking forward to finding out! The controls make sense and the main characters powers make combat fun!
