This labtop is speedy and its battery life very durable. The lighted keyboard and touch screen make it easy to navigate, and the combination of an i7 chip, adequate 8 GB RAM, and 256 SDD memory means it's far speedier than our previous laptop. So far, we like it just fine.

Needed small-ish machine for travel and being able to stay connected. Great size, light weight and battery lasts long enough.

I have had this computer for over 2 years and it is still going strong. I love watching Netflix and Youtube with the crystal clear display. I enjoy the touchscreen feature and the fast responsiveness. I have no need to upgrade my laptop because it is one of the best in the market.

gnohappy,
We're sorry to hear about the connectivity issues that you're having. We'd recommend the following steps if you have this issue again in the future:
1. Download and install the latest Wireless Card driver. (https://dell.to/2th3Tpe) After updating the driver, re-establish the connection with the Wireless Access Point and check the wireless performance.
2. If the issue persists, proceed to step 3.
3. Power-cycle the local network. Shut down the Dell system, the Wireless Access Point/Router and the Modem. Wait a minimum of 60 seconds before powering up the components in the following order:
4. Power ON the Modem, and wait for it to boot fully.
5. Power ON the Wireless Access Point/Router, and wait for it to boot fully.
6. Power ON the Dell system.
7. Open Network and Sharing Center
8. In the left side navigation pane, click on Change Adapter Settings
9. Right click on the wireless connection icon and select Properties followed by the Configure button
10. Under Wireless Options, select the Wireless N mode
11. For Windows 8 or later systems click the Advanced tab and look for 802.11n Mode on the right you will be given the option to Enable or Disable. If the mode is not visible you may need to update your drivers and firmware.
12. From the drop-down menu, choose Disable followed by Ok
13. This should restore the wireless download and upload speed. Internet speed can be tested at http://speedtest.net.

Bryan

Great laptop for traveling or taking to class. Great battery performance when in eco mode (roughly 11 hours). Fan can get loud at times especially when doing something intensive, but most laptops would have the same issue. Definitely worth a pickup if you're looking for a premium laptop.

Lacks many features; short battery life, loud fan, not worth the hefty price tag. Although it is fairly light weight, looks nice in the rose gold and alpine white keyboard and it has an almost edgeless screen. But the settings are kind of hard to manage. Overall, I would not recommend this to anyone else. A $500 computer will do the same job and it won't hurt your wallet as much.

Love,
Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your battery is not performing the way that you had hoped it would. Here are some tips to help with your battery life:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

If you need help with your fan noise we'd recommend these tips:
A: Cleaning the Vents
1. Check the vents on the computer to see if they are covered with dust and not allowing heat and air to pass through.
2. Turn off the system.
3. Remove all power sources: Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery, or unplug the desktop power Cord.
4. Use a compressed air can to blow the dust out of the vents. Be sure to hold the can at an upright angle (near 90 degrees), and hold it 15-20 centimeters (6-8 inches) away from the vent.
B: Update the BIOS: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer.

We hope these tips help your computer run the way you'd like it to.

I loved the look and feel of this laptop, but it stopped working after 11 months. I bought it from in April 2017. In March of 2018, it stopped working. I sent it back and they had to replace the battery, hard drive, heatsink, and main logic board. A few moths after that, after the one-year warrant expired, the battery stopped charging. Keep in mind, this it THEIR replacement battery. When I called tech support, they would not even talk to me unless I bought an extended warranty. Even though they replaced the parts only a few months ago, since the laptop itself was beyond the original warranty, they would not talk to me. It was almost $200 for the extended warranty just for them to talk to me about faulty parts they used! Now I am just out $1200 and have to but a new laptop. Lenovo?

Two months after buying the XPS 13 from best buy it wouldn't turn on. The LED under the touchpad flashes orange 3x, the white 3x, then repeats until it shuts down. Total tech support rep diagnosed it as, " real problem." Wow, very insightful. Reading the Dell community page this computer is known for faulty batteries and motherboards with a lot of failures out of the box. Save yourself some trouble, avoid Dell. Still waiting on geek squad to figure it out.
