Was looking to "upgrade" my aging Optoma CinemaX P1 projector and the reviews all seemed to point to the Epson. Unfortunately, it failed to live up to the expectations. Cliff notes: The LS800 is huge, bright, annoyingly loud, and struggles with 4k sharpness. Pros: * Bright * Good colors * Has Android TV (limited - no netflix) Cons * Fans are annoyingly loud (could hear them over my surround sound) and resonate at a lower frequency than I've heard from fans. They are OK at about 30% brightness and lower - but then.... why did you buy a 4000 lumen projector? * Can't really do 4k. Sure it accepts the input, but it butchers the fine detail. I understand it's not a true 4k projector.... but neither was my Optoma. I've uploaded a comparison photo illustrating my point. * Not a lot of adjustment. You get very, very basic adjustments in the settings. I updated the firmware and it didn't help. Warp adjustment is just corners. Focus is a manual lever (more on this later). Picture / color controls are OK, though not what I'd expect from a projector in this price range. * Focus is a lever and not uniform across the image. My older Optoma has fine tune motorized focus. This more expensive projector has a lever. Alright so I'm being a bit nitpicky since focus is a set and forget type of thing, but taking the lever out of it - I couldn't get a clear focus across the screen. Focus the top middle? then the bottom gets fuzzy and vice versa. Edges were always slightly fuzzy. I triple checked the projector level, and wall angle, etc. I'm hoping I just got a bad unit (fan and clarity), so I'm going to exchange this for a new unit. I'll update my review if that's the case, but I'm a bit disappointed given all the hype from reviewers and such. The detail may be fine for most, but unless you need the brightness - you could just get a cheaper projector with better image quality.

I was mixed on this but eventually decided to return it and went with an AWOL 3000 and am glad I did. I just couldn't get over the soft and blurry image that I could never get in focus. It did well with 4k content but anything less was blurry, especially text. Otherwise I liked the true to life colors, sound, brightness, design and ability to get really close to the wall. It would be an outstanding projector if they could work out the sharpness but in the end it's a deal breaker for me.

For one, the built-in speaker rattles too much. It is annoying playing any sound through it. Secondly, anytime i connect anything to the Game HDMI input, the projector will spontaneously shut down mid game/mid movie. Furthermore, though it shiws a connection to wi-fi, the built-on wifi ceases to work while all the other wifi enable devices in ny home work flawlessly. At the very least, i hipe to exchange this for another one.

This product deserves 2.5 stars reduced from 4 stars simply because the company decided to use shortcut and use half baked Google TV with no Netflix integration. Why can't epson not have its own custom UI so Google doesn't block installing of Netflix app and casting Netflix stream without additional chrome cast. Whatever approach you use without Chrome cast only displays overlay content from Netflix and plays audio. Google TV is suppressing the video stream. SHAME ON EPSON for implementing incomplete solution and taking shortcut with such an expensive equipment. This requires additional Chrome cast to play Netflix. Surprisingly all the other apps are available in Google TV for streaming except Netflix

I’m a huge fan of OLEDs and was so excited to add an ultra short throw in my game room. The price point and bundle with the ALRscreen was the main reason that I decided on the Epson 800. What I didn’t realize is that there’s a lot of light that bleeds through. After the initial install, I had Geek Squad come back out the following week to adjust the screen. Although they were able to reduce some of the bleeding, I was told that it could not be fully corrected because the boarder in the ALR screen was too thin. The Geek Squad installer ended calling his manager to see if there was another solution. I heard the manger tell my installer that he’s had five customers also complain about the same issue. I have had my short through for almost a month now, and it’s now starting to shut off spontaneously by itself. I have Googled this issue at its recommended to make sure that there are no loose connections which I did with no avail. Geek Squad is now scheduled to switch it out and was told that it’s probably defective. I would recommend that you do your own research if you plan on purchasing the LS800 and you may want to look at Hisense L9 as an alternative option. Note: if you plan on adding a PS5 which I did, you will not be able to run sound via speakers/sound bar. The Epson Projector only allows for sound to come through its own speaker.

I heard and read good customer reviews on this product but my experience is completely opposite. Picture is not bright enough even if in a dark room during the day or night. I am noticing wrinkles here & there especially when there is a light blue or grey color on the screen e.g. sky. I am not loosing my hope yet. Called Best Buy Magnolia to take a look and reinstall the screen again. Installation was easy but fixing the focus on the 120" screen took quite long time. App are ok but I can't complain as I am using Apple TV plugged into the projector. Operations are are easy, I was able to connect internet and add to Google Home for voice control. Note: This site is not allowing me to upload the pictures.

When it worked it was good picture quality except for the picture unable to straighten out. I projected it against a new home flat wall. the top right curved down and even the epson setting assistant couldnt straighten it out. The shaping options did seem comprehensive but I was still unable to straighten it out. Over the first few days projector shut off with a flashing orange light. I thought it was overheating but its winter and its freezing in the home. I looked up on epson support and every iteration of flashing orange is contact epson. I did and they told me to return it and I held off. After one week the projector just wouldnt turn on, would go straight to flashing orange. for a $3.4k item, I would expect better quality control. Had to return it. I can not in good conscience get another one with that fear of the unit being defective and this time outside of warranty.
