I've had this printer for just over a year and I've spent 3 times what I expected to on ink. And it's because if you utilize their "update", you will update yourself into no longer being able to use third party or even refilled brand name ink cartridges. It was tolerable until this last update has even excluded me from printing in black and white UNLESS I have every single color refilled. And they can't be empty, either. Or It Will Not Operate! I'm done with Epson. I won't even give it away because this machine is no gift. But hey, it does put out some high quality, very expensive prints.....

Hello CDC007, the Epson WF-7310 is designed to use only genuine Epson-brand ink cartridges. Other brands of ink cartridges, and ink supplies, are not compatible, and even if described as compatible, may not function properly. Epson provides information about the design of the printer on the box, as well as many other locations, including materials shipped with the printer. From time to time, Epson updates its firmware to ensure the printer operates as designed. Do NOT download firmware updates if you want to use other ink. There is no turning back and so you are stuck buying Epson's expensive ink. Have a replacement warranty? Don't bother as they just want you to haul this really light and easy to carry printer in so that they can "look at it" and help you. Any other retailer would cross ship you the item but not these guys. Nope, someone from another country is just going to keep telling you that "you can bring it into the store and they will help you". If I bought it AT the store, I can understand that. If I bought it from their ONLINE store where they shipped it to me, they should expect that I'm going to want another shipped in it's place per their name "PRODUCT REPLACEMENT WARRANTY". I'm being picky because it is NOT convenient to get to their store but their answer to that is to have someone else do it. Yeah, they can have UPS do it. So, no, don't buy an Epson product if you want to "cheap out" as I did and use the same ink in a different branded cartridge. I'm so stupid to think I could save a buck. My fault.

Horrible printer. Slow printing, no scanner, AND uses ink like its nothing. Had to change my ink three times for 700 pages. Ridiculous.

Printer does not work with my MacBook Air. I paid to have Best Buy install. Installation failed after a few weeks. I was on the phone for 3 hours with 5 different Epson representations and it still won't work. Last rep told me to call Apple and gave me an Apple Scam number. Beware

I The cord does not stay in back of printer. Best Buy refuses return after 15 days which was not clear on purchase. My understanding was I had 30 days. Very disappointed.

Don’t buy anything that isn’t an ecotank or capable of being filled with external ink. Companies like to charge extreme amounts of money for their ink cartridges that barely last. They have created one time use chips so you can’t reset or refill the cartridges yourself. I will never buy another cartridge printer again
