The Sony 24-105mm f/4 G OSS has become my go-to everyday lens. The zoom range is perfect — wide enough for landscapes and tight enough for portraits without ever needing to switch lenses. Image quality is consistently sharp, colors pop, and autofocus is fast and reliable. The OSS stabilization really helps in low light or handheld shots. It’s not the lightest lens, but the versatility completely makes up for it. A true all-round workhorse for travel, family photos, and daily shooting.

It has a wonderful auto focus and feels worth the price. It comes with the lens hood and a carrying bag. It gives me the extra little distance I need. I’ve used it on my Sony a7iii and while I’m still learning, it took my photography to the next level. It’s a good upgrade if you’re ready to rid the stock lens - if you want something ‘bigger’ or ‘better’ this isn’t the one for you. If you love the stock lens but want a little more distance and sharper quality, this is the one for you.

I have never spent over a $1000 on a lens until now. As long as I’m already spending the money on a superb camera, Sony a7iii, it didn’t make any sense to buy a mediocre lens for. After some considerable reviews, I decided on this Sony 24-105mm OSS as my first lens with a high probability that it remains as my primary lens down the road. My first impression was that this lens was HUGE. As with any camera lens, I strongly advised purchasing a UV filter. The filter size for lens is 72mm, considerably larger then my old Canon lens filter. It felt like it weighed more than the camera body. The larger the lens, e more photons it can pick up. The better the lens quality, the sharper the image. Together, it makes a superb lens. So far I used this lens to take photos of my daughter soccer games while sitting high up in the bleachers, taking photos of family activities, group photos, everyday street activities, macro shots of dragon flies and flowers. photos taken indoors without flash, and outdoors under various lighting conditions, Photos of my daughter soccer games after cropping to zoom in on the subjects looked surprisingly sharp. I can honestly say that all of the photos I’ve taken so far have been very impressive. I attributed that to the camera and the lens. The OSS Keep the image steady even under low lighting. There are times when taking photos with a flash is prohibited or not optimal, the stabilization feature on this lens is the best I’ve seen so far. Professional reviewers said as much and I can see why. I still rely on my tripod for long exposure shooting. Can’t see myself holding the camera on a subject for when doing long exposure such as that of the night landscape. Do I recommend the lens. The answer is YES, YES, and YES. Is it worth the money? The answer again is a resounding yes. Do I think the lens is expensive? I do. It is definitely not cheap. There are other lens companies such as Tamron that also make good lenses that can potentially be cheaper than this Sony lens. I however chose this over all others because of the overwhelming I read about it. Another thing to consider is that not all lenses are suited for every shooting situations. You have to think about what you primary use it for then pick a lens that best suited for it.

I would highly recommend picking this up over the GM as it’s lighter, less expensive and just as sharp. Originally planned on purchasing the 24-70 f2.8 GM lens from Sony as the faster aperture was an attractive option for a general all purpose lens. However when I found the 24-105 f4 I wasn’t sure if it would be fast enough for me but I found with the A7iii high ISO capabilities and 24 MP sensor it did an excellent job. Didn’t do any scientific tests for sharpness across the focal lengths but I can tell you it’s plenty sharp wide open and even better stopped down. As for the build it’s not a GM so expect some seams to be visible but nothing that interferes the actual use of the lens. Weather sealing is good but have not had time to test it in the pouring rain. If you’re not sure whether to pick this up or not another option would be the Tamron 28-75 f2.8. You won’t get the extra reach or better build quality but it comes cheaper. Overall very happy with the lens, one of the best I’ve used and stays on my camera the majority of the time. I would highly recommend this lens as its wide range of zoom is versatile. I’ve attached pictures that I’ve taken with the 24-105 f4.

Very beautiful lense, gives a nice amount of ranges and is sharp the whole way through although at 105 I did notice a slight blur on the corners but nothing too obvious. You really have to pixel peep to find anything wrong with this lense IMO. The lense is very high quality and made with premium materials, the downside to this is that its metal body is quite heavy. I found myself not wanting to hold my camera in my hands as often because of the weight and often returned it to my bag because of wrist pain causing me to miss some shots. In the end it’s a great lense but to keep it on all the time for street photography it was a bit heavy for me so I’m looking into other options. I would recommend it though, just keep the weight in mind.

Added this to my So y A7Cii for travel. Its lights only needing to use one lens instead of bring 3 with ne on my travel trips and the images come out so clear even when at slower shutter speeds thanks to the OSS. Would purchase again. My only worries on this lens was them realsing a new updated one with like a F2 appeture.

So far I like it!! I Would say zoom is ok. For portraits it’s better on zoom. I have to keep playing with it. The auto focus is great and manual focus is also good I just need to get the hang of it. More Pictures are on my instagram @Jedecorphotography and my personal is @ogxnelley

I've been using this lens for about a month already and can see why it's so good. It's better than the kit lens by far. The extra 35 in reach vs a 24-70 comes in handy. The quality full open is sharp and clear. I haven't pixel peeped and you'll see how close it is to the GM on YouTube if you look. F4 hasn't stopped me from recording video at night, and it helps to have an A7III that has a high tolerance for noise. As a video lens it's great because it has OSS(Optical steady shot) built in and helps with the shaking. On a gimbal it is fantastic.

The first lens I bought to complement a new A7 m3 body. I have found it to be a very handy every day lens for many reasons. I was able to take some nice shots while taking advantage of the full range of the zoom. It is limited by the f4 but you have to pay much more for the faster lens options. I recently used the lens for a family reunion followed by a trip to Capitol Reef National Park. It really handled it all quite well.

I’ve been researching about this lens for about 6mo. A good all around lens. Its clarity and performance lives up with my expectations. The split decision when your shooting flowers and suddenly you need a zoom for a bird perch on a twig type of a lens.

Love this lens! Great quality image and high-quality light sensitivity for a f4. The zoom is not very smooth so I would not recommend the Zoom for Video content. Other than that it is a great lens and I would buy it again

I picked up this lense right before i went to colombia and it was everything i needed. It was wide enough for landscapes and tight enough to get some shots of me and the guys. Pictures were super sharp and aperture F4 was all i needed.
