In all seriousness, though, this game does it's job as an addition to the Three Houses lore very well, in addition to using what is, in my opinion, the best Dynasty Warriors gameplay system. The stories are good- not quite as good as the Blue Lions route of Three Houses, but still on par with the other 3H routes. And you get a good protagonist this time!

Return to Fodlan in an alternate story that expands on the one from Three Houses.

KoeiTecmo returns with another Fire Emblem spinoff this time based on the hit Switch game Fire Emblem: Three Houses. You take the control of a mercenary teaming up with the three academies from Garreg Mach Monastery. Any academy the player choose will give the a new story to follow and a ton of Warriors to fight with. Train, talk and form a strategy to strengthen your bonds and stats with the Warriors by fighting hordes of soldiers in each map to progress further in the chapter. While the battles can get monotonous, and the dialogue can drag on a bit, the action and characters will keep you coming back for more surprises on what will happen next. Whether you’re a Fire Emblem fan or not, Three Hopes is the spinoff you definitely want to try out. +Action +Characters +Story +Music -Dialogue can drag a bit -Like most Warriors games, it can get pretty monotonous

Fire Emblem Three Hopes is two things— a 1. Warriors / Musou game and 2. a “what if” story based on Fire Emblem Three Houses. For those of you who have played Warriors games before, this game will be one of the best you’ve played— it has all of the elements introduced in Zelda Age of Calamity, and it’s improves everything (even the frame rate!). Plus, it has many new elements specific to the Fire Emblem series, such as classes, support ranks, weapon durability, etc. and honestly, the best part about the game is the fantastic story— probably the best Warriors story on Switch, and it has all of your favorite Three Houses characters too. However, the real question is, can I recommend this game to someone who doesn’t like Warriors games? If you haven’t played a Warriors game before, you should play the free demo of this game on the Nintenso eShop before you buy it. If you have played them and don’t like the gameplay (strategic 3D brawler against hundreds of soldiers where the soldiers almost don’t matter— the strategy of which soldiers you go after does). You can’t button mash your way through this game, but there IS a lot of pressing the same two buttons to combat the fields of enemies. It’s very complex if you give it a chance, but people who don’t like this genre might not make it to the complex parts if they can’t see past the core gameplay. Overall, I love this game and you will too if you like Warriors / musou games. If you don’t like this genre or aren’t sure, play the demo first.

I have little experience with the Warriors franchise games, and none with the Fire Emblem series; however, I've found this to be a pretty fun game that seems to blend what I believe are some of the core elements of Fire Emblem games (the weapon system, mob types, the support system between characters) with the Warriors style "Mow through swarms of chaff to get to the big units/bosses" action combat gameplay. The story itself is something of a side/alternate story to Fire Emblem: Three houses, with a different main character but the same secondary characters. Not a short game either - you can easily put 100+ hours into this if you complete all three story paths and are being reasonably completionist. Value wise, I bought it on clearance for $43 at the end of December '23, and I think it's absolutely worth it at that price for having a physical copy. As I'm writing this in March '24 it's now on clearance for $30... you'll never be able to get a new copy this cheap, nor will you ever find the digital copy that cheap (or ever on sale for that matter).

Those who have played warrior games by Koei Tecmo before will be familiar with the fun hack n' slash playstyle. This game provides some great story elements connecting to the fire emblem three houses story. Performance runs really well on the switch considering it's a warrior's game

This game is overall excellent. It addresses many of the story and character criticisms 3 Houses had and tells a much improved story over 3 Houses and its warriors combat is refined and polished very well. It feels like a genuine fire emblem entry despite the different gameplay.

Step above Warriors in every way. Gameplay, story, characters are all great the performance could be better but it's a fantastic game!

Haven't had much time with the game, but so far so good. If you like dynasty warriors and fire emblem you can't go wrong. The package came in mint condition and the deal was a best buy. Ba dum tss!

A great follow up to Three Houses. While it isn’t a strategic RPG like it’s predecessor, Three Hopes continues the excellent story from the first game. The Samurai Warriors combat might turn some off, but if it clicks with you, it’s an addicting system.

If you've played warriors-style games before, then you'll find the gameplay familiar. The story is an alternate retelling of Three Houses with some twists, but it's nice to revisit the familiar environment and characters I missed. :)

Very fun game! Similar to Dynasty Warriors. With some extra cool power moves.

This game is absolutely fantastic. Best Musou I've played on Switch yet. Koei is doing great work with these Nintendo properties in their style. The story is as good if not better than Three Houses. The only issue I have is if you play split screen the game runs extremely poorly.

This is a remarkably deep game for Warriors standards, with a ton of fun character moments with the FE3H cast and the new protagonist Shez. Unfortunately it doesn't run very well on the Switch. Hopefully when the Switch 2 comes out this will get a performance increase.

Not my favorite type of game, i thought i was getting an actual fire Emblem game to finally try, but it's more of a Koei Tecmo dynasty warriors like game. Which yes, the price was so low, i didn't pay attention that it was actually a Koei Tecmo game, but if you like those games like dynasty warriors or the Hyrule warriors games, I'm sure it's quite serviceable

Fun spin-off game to Three Houses. I've tried 7 different musou games and this is the only one that I've liked. Knocked a star off because the game can get repetitive with it's missions and drags on in the middle of each story.

This type of game tends to be an acquired taste. You hack and slash your way through thousands of enemies in every stage. Which can become redundant, but I can enjoy these in short bursts. This one is Fire Emblem themed, the story is okay, the music is decent, but if you played one of these, you kind of played them all. Still, if you like this sort of thing, this is a pretty solid one. Although the frame rate can be bit low here and there. I hope the next Nintendo console is backwards compatible and can iron out these frame rate issues.
