Very nice microwave until it breaks few weeks after warranty is over. I don't think it's isolated case becaudr the part I need is OUT OF STOCK. 600$ part is 177. Would have been 777$ plus medications for headache. 600$ a year for microwave seems expensive

This item was purchased to replace an older unit, also a GE Profile, that failed after 10 yrs. I went back with the GE Profile line because of the dimensions. I didn't want a unit that was going to limit my ability to stir a big pot on the cooktop just below the microwave. The differences between the older and new units are as follows: the new unit has an enamel inside; the old one was white plastic. This change makes it much darker inside the microwave. But really, I don't stand and watch my foods get nuked, so probably just something to get used to. The new unit has a dial instead of direct input. I did like the instant push buttons of the my old unit for minutes 1 through 6, but it only takes a twist of the dial to select how long you want to cook something. Also, the dial only lets you select times in increments of 15 seconds. So unless you are a control freak, this should give you enough flexibility. (You can always just stand there and open the door when you wish to stop the microwave, if, say, you're wanting to melt butter but not boil it-which is what I used to do with the old one anyway.) There is not a shelf in the new one for dual level cooking. For me this was not a factor since I never felt the old unit did a great job of even heating when I did cook things on both levels. Now at least, when I have taller items to put in, I don't have to remove the shelf and find a place to store it. Things I like about the GE Profile line: large glass turntable allows me to use my 5 quart pyrex dish inside the microwave. Turntable off button allows me to use a 9 x 13 pyrex dish with built in handles inside the unit. A more than adequate fan sucks away cooking fumes quickly. All in all a good microwave that matches my other kitchen appliances.

I recently purchased this GE Profile microwave. I have had it for a month now. It does a very good job of heating the food evenly. Unlike my previous microwave, its very well lit inside while the food is being heated. If I had to be nit picky about anything, it's that the door feels a little light. I'm not afraid it's going to break, but it's just an observation. Final thought, I would recommend this product.

Have waited to write this review so I could use this appliance for awhile. This is my 3rd set of Profile kitchen sets in 24 years. I have always loved them. This micro though is a little weird with the dial instead of digital display for cook time . It does add ease to getting to your desired cook time but it goes in 15 second intervals. However, I think GE got the message with all the problems with the control panel that was all digital. As for the previous one I owned, it died early, I do a lot of stove top cooking and boil a tea pot several times a day. The steam would make the microwave handle and display so hot, that we could sometimes not touch it. It would make sense that the steam fried the panel. Hopefully, the new one we bought will last for many more years.

Not a fan of black interior, hard to see spatter. Knob control adds at least 2 steps to start the simplest of heating something up. Either that or you just have to punch the "add 30 sec" button several times. Single digit keypad was much easier in my old unit. touch buttons have to be "firmly" pressed. Wanted to stay with "Profile" unit like my old one. Should have bought the cheaper model. Looks nice, better exhaust fan and lighting. Contrary to GE repairman, new mounting brackets had to be installed due to very slightly differentattachment points.

This was a replacement for fancy Samsung (piece of junk) we bought two years ago. A huge improvement. Doesn’t have many of the bells and whistles as other brands, but I don’t care. Didn’t need any of that stuff anyway. It’s just an absolutely solid unit. Fit was great, installation was a breeze. A note the mounting bracket is the easiest I’ve ever had to mess with. Matches our Profile French door refrigerator perfectly.

This is a good microwave. The addition of the dial means no numeric keypad, allowing for many more special settings. And the additional space for cooking is nice. Others have commented on the dial so I won't bother. It's basically a 3-step process to start microwaving... just too much. But the text is brown/tan against a black background and impossible to read without a bright light on in the kitchen. It doesn't heat items quite as quickly as our previous and smaller 1.7 cu ft microwave, which I guess makes sense. On the plus side, the fan/vent is very powerful and great for handling fume and steam from items being cook cooked on the range below.

It looks good and works well. The door has weight to it and has a solid feel when it closes. For some reason, getting the glass plate on the connector so it spins is a little more difficult than with other microwaves but other than that, I'm happy with it.

I purchased a General Electric Profile Over the Range microwave to replace the one I had. I am very happy with it now that I figured out how to use it. The new ones have knobs to set the time instead of numbers. They do not send directions anymore but I did figure out how to use it. It works great and looks great.

Great Profile series microwave. So happy with my new microwave and it’s new Profile look to match all of my other New Profile appliances. Easy to use and looks beautiful above my Profile range. I would definitely recommend this item!!!
