The cooktop looks really nice and works quite well. However, the nobs are plastic and one of them has already shown signs of melting - roughly a week after the unit was installed. If metal nobs are an option, I would highly recommend it.

OK Overall good product BUT when you boil a pot of water on the middle burner, the grates turn hot red like ready to melt or to be forged . We contacted GE cares and are waiting for a reply . Is this a defective metal issue and or a safety issue. We had a 5 burner Thermador cooktop before and had no problem whatsoever. This one came with the new home model we purchased 8 mos ago . The builder referred us to GE. SEE PIC BELOW.

Easy installation and great to use. The 5 burners are perfect for cooking for the family. Just a little extra work to clean compared to an electric flat surface.

This has been great for cooking, and seems to cook evenly. It cleans easy too, but the grills could be a little less gritty.

I love the cooktop however the knobs are made of plastic and the first time I used it one of them melted. For as much as I paid for this I would expect better quality knobs.

Cooktop works fine. Reason for the two stars is for the design. The cooktop does not sit flat on the counter. It bows in the front where the knobs are and in the back corners despite the installers using more straps to strap it down. This is the second one put in out of the box and it does the same as the first. It doesn't look good from the front and because of the bowing it will allow food particles and such to get under the cooktop. Should probably give it 1 star.
