The cooktop looks really nice and works quite well. However, the nobs are plastic and one of them has already shown signs of melting - roughly a week after the unit was installed. If metal nobs are an option, I would highly recommend it.

OK Overall good product BUT when you boil a pot of water on the middle burner, the grates turn hot red like ready to melt or to be forged . We contacted GE cares and are waiting for a reply . Is this a defective metal issue and or a safety issue. We had a 5 burner Thermador cooktop before and had no problem whatsoever. This one came with the new home model we purchased 8 mos ago . The builder referred us to GE. SEE PIC BELOW.
