A: The knobs are plastic and THEY MELT. Mine lasted only 4 months.
Q: What is the exact measurement of the burner to the grate? Thank you.
A: Exactly one inch from top of burner to bottom of grate. Grates remain hot for 2 to 4 minutes after turn off
Q: Can this cooktop be converted for use with propane? Does propane affect the power to the cooktop?
A: Hi betsy122, thanks for your questions! Yes, this model can be converted to use Liquid Propane (LP) rather than Natural Gas. The conversion kit comes with the unit. We'd recommend that this conversion be performed by a qualified gas professional. - As for the power of the cooktop, converting from Natural Gas to LP would not affect the BTU ratings. We hope this helps! Stay safe. -Michael@GEA
A: Hello Pamelalovestocook - The black surface is porcelain enamel, and it is not stainless. We do offer cleaning instructions for this surface: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16856. -TREY@GEA

When my existing GE Profile PGP953SETSS finally was reduced to 2 of 5 burners working -after 10 years of use (not without issues and minor repairs to electrical wiring and knobs etc). I was forced to look at replacements. The GE Profile PGP7030SLSS is a direct replacement, it has more powerful gas burners and a more useful grill design (less wobbly for smaller pots and pans). It also doesn't have the lock feature which I have always found a hinderance - sometimes causing the buzzer to go on indefinitely. The grill seems a bit more narrow and sturdy in construction. Mine broke out of the box, and it was a hassale to get the replacement part. But Bestbuy Customer support came through and not only did they replace the unit and re-install a new one, but also sent me a replacement grill (Center). I can't ask for better support. Everyone on the phone and in person was pleasant to deal with.

Bought GE profile cooktop just about one year ago. Burners are great, cleans pretty easily, BUT the material they use for the stainless steel finish is easily scratched and feels cheap It was okay for a while but after some use there are fingernail scratches all around the burner controls. No one in this house has long fingernails. It's just normal daily use and wear. These are permanent scratches and will not come out so I guess got to live with them till the next cook top purchase. Also starting to lose some of the print text around the controls. I only clean with wet sponge and mild thorn detergent So it's really just not a durable finish

Love, love, love this cooktop. Replaced a cheaper GE cooktop as part of a kitchen remodel and what a difference!! Burners light immediately and have a strong, steady gas flow. Burners reach a much higher temp than the old cooktop and maintain a consistent temp while in use. I like the lighted knobs since they keep me from "forgetting" to turn off the burners. And it's also just plain gorgeous!! Makes our "dated" oak cabinets look good.
