AirPods

AirPods are Apple’s true wireless headphones, which means each earbud is a separate wireless unit, so there is no wire connecting them. On this page, you’ll find the original model, the updated version (often referred to as AirPods 2), and the new Apple AirPods Pro (sometimes called Airpod 3). The biggest difference between the two earlier models is that AirPods (2nd generation) has a wireless charging case that you can use with your Qi wireless charging pad. If wireless charging doesn’t interest you, you can get AirPods (2nd generation) with the original charging case that you plug in using a lightning cable and port.

There are other differences, too. The second generation of AirPods offers everything the 1st generation wireless AirPods offered, plus some upgrades you’re likely to appreciate. For instance, the AirPods (2nd generation) design lets you access Apple’s digital assistant Siri hands-free, using just your voice, while also providing an extra hour of talk time.

AirPods Pro, on the other hand, offers even more functionality, including Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode which lets you hear what’s happening around you, and a more customizable fit. Additionally, Adaptive EQ technology automatically tunes music to the shape of your ear to deliver the best possible sound.

Apple AirPods provide ample listening time on a full charge, so you can enjoy your favorite music or podcasts sourced from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch (with iOS 12.2 or later), or your Apple Watch (with TVOS 5.2 or later). Because they’re paired at the same time to your Apple Watch and your iPhone, AirPods are capable of automatically switching between the two. AirPods can also be used as wireless Bluetooth headphones with non-Apple devices, for listening and talking, without access to Siri. Listening with your AirPods couldn’t be easier. When you take them out of their case, they’re ready to use. When you put them in your ears, they’ll automatically play music from your device. And when you take your AirPods out, the music stops. And, they automatically connect to your Apple devices. It’s as simple as that.

When the battery charge on your Apple wireless AirPods is getting low, a tone in one or both earbuds will alert you. Then you’ll hear another tone before they run out of juice and turn off. With multiple charges in your fully charged case, you’ll have plenty of battery power to listen to your music and podcasts throughout the day.
