Q: Does the surface scratch or stain easily?
A: It does not scratch easily. But certain stains, like burned sugar are impossible to get out. It seems like it got into the glass somehow. Looks terrible. Looking to get a new top. Love the stove, has 4 burners along with a warmer unit.

A: No, you need an overhead vent hood or microwave with vent fan.
A: The burners and control strip are black and the rest of the cooktop is a dark charcoal color. I really had to look at the cooktop to answer your question, because I could not remember, so it must not be any sort of issue with me. Hope this helps.

My New Glass Stovetop
My previous glass stovetop did not properly fit the counter opening, and when I cleaned it, it wiggled around, finally developing some cracks. Not wanting to use a cracked electric stove, I carefully measured the counter space, and found this Whirlpool, which is exactly the right size! I am so happy that I purchased it! I works beautifully, and looks elegant in my kitchen.

Looks nice
Salesman was excellent. I created the first problem in not doing the measurement. I previously had a 30” cooktop that apparently was 30.2 “ and first one I ordered was 29.75” and was too small for the cutout. The Whirlpool which is over 30” fit perfectly. The second problem occurred after the installation and the Best Buy installer left and II couldn’t close the drawers below the cooktop. If he hadn’t left So quickly the problem could have been resolved. Apparently he put the connection cord over the slide surface for the drawer. They would not come back to fix it and I had someone else do for another $100. Third problem, Best Buy installer didn’t use the foam tape. Fourth problem. Best Buy installer didn’t use securing brackets. I would recommend buyers not to pay $130 to Best Buy for their installation.

Whirlpool Cook Top
Good cook top. This replaced an old Tappan. Heats up fast. The knobs could have brighter lines. That is a minor issue. Had to upgrade wiring. Overall, I am happy with it.
