Q: Do the sensors chime with opening the door while home/alarm not on? I have toddlers so like to know if a door opens but not set off the alarm.

A: The Nest Secure system has an option called open tone. When Open Tone is enabled, and the alarm is set to Off , the Guard will sound a friendly tone when someone opens a door or window.

Q: Does the Nest just have a door and window detector , I have no desire for a motion detector. I might have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. If I set off the alarm I may no longer need to go to the bathroom HAHA.

A: The Nest Secure system comes with two Nest Detects which can be placed on a door or window. The Nest Guard does have a motion sensor on the front, however you can choose to disable this within the settings.

Q: If you leave a window open, are you able to bypass to set an alarm? Also to confirm, if you set the alarm to say you are at home but want the alarm to go off if the window or door is open, will this go off instantly or will it be the min 30 seconds?

A: The alarm will arm with or without a window/door open. The message light will be orange indicating a window or door is open and all other sensors will work. There is a setting to change so the system can go off instantly if you want it too. That'as a recent change, though.

Q: Do you have to hardware anything or does it just sit on a countertop ? What's the least expensive system made & can I use in my apartment ? If I want to take it with me when I move is that possible ?

A: The Nest Guard which is the main control for the Nest Secure system plugs into a normal outlet to be powered at all times and will need to be placed on a flat surface to get the most out of the motion sensor in the front of the Nest Guard. Q: will I get notification on my phone that the alarm went off without getting the subscription plan? Also will the sensor announce which specific doors are opened ( front door, back door, etc) or only chimes?

A: You can get notifications on your phone without having to pay for the subscription. The guard will chime when a door opens if the alarm is off but will announce the specific door/window if the guard is set to home & guarding or away and guarding.

Q: I have a 100lb dog that continues to set off the motion detectors, is there anything that can be done beside turning off the motion sensors?

A: You can try setting it to the lower detection mode - but with a 100 lb dog that may not be enough (it is designed for about 40lb dogs)

Q: Will Moni Monitoring Plan include video storage from Nest Cams or include Nest Aware subscription? To me, including nest aware is the selling point, otherwise, the ADT Security Hub by Smartthings will become the go to for DYI home security systems.

A: Professional Monitoring by MONI doesn't include Nest Aware Video History for cameras. These are two separate subscriptions, so you can add one or both to your setup depending on which products you own. For customers that use both Nest Secure and Nest cameras, we're also working on making video alarm verification available to professional security monitoring services.

Q: What are the different time delay settings for sensors? Can I have different settings for Home and Armed and Away and Armed? I use my side door as my main entrance, so I want that one to have no delay when I'm home, but have a short delay when I am away.

A: The time setting are: No delay 15 sec 30 sec 45 sec 1 min 3 min 5 min Bother home armed and away armed can be set independent of each other. I have no delay when home armed and 30 sec delay when away armed. You can set sensors independent each other as well for both home and away.
