Q: Does it require a "C" lead connection?
A: No, this does not require a “c” lead vonnection.
Q: Is the new $169 model third generation?

A: Yes you can just like the original nest there is not an actual hold function but you can set up schedules.

A: There is no hub required for this unit to fully function. It can be added to Google Home/Amazon Alexa if you wish to use voice commands.
