Horizon Zero Dawn is the combination of FarCry 3/4/Primal's mission system, Diablo III's loot mechanics, Uncharted 4's environment scaling, and Halo's repetitive, addictive, heart-pounding firefight sequences that culminate in one of the best collages of gaming in recent memory. Every one of the above elements are so well executed that Horizon Zero Dawn could be measured toe-to-toe against any of the titles it borrows from and potentially beat them in a side-by-side review. Each system has been implemented with such polish and refinement that you forget this game is a brand new IP. If I could sum the visuals and mechanics of this game up in two words, they would be "beyond stunning". The only areas where this game falters, and where my review deviates from the 100s of others on metacritic, is with the story and characters that populate this great island. The acting, when lined up against the look of the NPC characters, is supposed to make you say "Wow" but instead make you say, "boy, they all look so shiny and over polished". Since you have 10,000 conversations with characters in the game you'll also begin to see the both men and women move in the same way and their movements don't entirely correlate to the lines of dialog being spoken. Horizon Zero Dawn's story comes off a bit disjointed making it almost feel like the arc had been written in parts or by several teams. About 5 hours into the game, I just didn't care about anyone (including the main character) and would quickly click through dialog to get to the sweet, sweet missions therein. Thankfully, the REAL stars of the show in Horizon Zero Dawn are the mechanical beasts, the environment, and the combat. Horizon Zero Dawn replaces the Witcher 3's complexity with simplicity which will make this game infinitely more accessible for all PS4 owners. TL;DR: Buy this game for the combat and visuals and you will have a blast (story is entirely optional)

To start, this comes in a massive box. The statue is fantastic. Highly detailed and looks great on my shelf. The steelbook is a perfect accompaniment with a nice shot of Aloy and her bow above a Thunderjaw. As for the game, it plays and looks great. Definitely a GOTY contender. The narrative isn't perfect the way it's told, despite a strong foundation. It's still engaging, nonetheless.

The Aloy figure is beautifully done with high detail and accuracy. Just look at those freckles! Horizon Zero Dawn (HZD) has strong similarities to Far Cry: Primal (FC:P) but is more refined and robust. If you liked FC:P you will like HZD and vice versa, but HZD has a more engaging story and characters, and better graphics.

Game of the Year! The game looks absolutely Gorgeous! Amazing visuals, the combat is fluid and satifying, great story, huge lore for a new IP and hard to put down. There are many things to do in game and even after completion. Lastly the photo mode is mighty impressive! 10 out of 10!

I have to say, I love this game! It's one of the best games I've played in a while. You can see they put a lot of work into this game, and I would gladly give it a 9.5 out of 10. I don't have a single negative thing to say. Plus, the collectors edition was fantastic. The Aloy statue is one of the best collectors edition statues I've ever had, the detail was amazing. On top of that, with the Gamers Club membership, I only paid $95 on the day of release. I couldn't be happier with this game and all the collector extras. If you love open world, 3rd person, missions and quest based, survival adventure games (Uncharted, Tomb Raider, FarCry) then this game is a great choice!

This collectors edition is awesome! A must have for any gamer. The game itself is unbelievable; I'm about 45% through it now and have loved every single moment! The art book that comes with this collector's edition is rather small, but the images are great quality. And the best part is the FIGURE. It's easily the most detailed figure I own. It's absolutely beautiful. I'm super happy with my purchase!!

An action role-playing game with great graphics and interesting story. It start with a decent but by far not thorough training. Once done you get roam and upgrade as you progress through the story. Haven't finished yet but this game has truly amazing and fun. As for the figure with this edition, SUPER SWEET! Smaller than Tomb Raider and Uncharted but very detailed.

This is a great collector's edition for Horizon Zero Dawn. The Aloy statue is amazing, and some assembly is required for the arrows that go on the Watcher. It's fairly easy to do. Artwork on the Steelbook is really nice, especially since it takes on a brighter look (for some reason many of my video game Steelbooks are mostly dark colors). Interior of the Steelbook also has artwork. The mini art book is a nice item to include in this set. Also can't forget the to redeem the in-game content + dynamic theme (includes the epic trailer music). Only done a few main quests and side quests in the game so far, and already completely impressed by the character designs and story. Many hours will be devoted to this game. Highly recommend picking up this version of Horizon Zero Dawn!

Finally got around to playing this game after purchasing it earlier in the year. This game has it all. We live in a gaming era where everything looks great, so no need to talk about the stunning visuals. The handling on this game is superb, you can really get away with only using 2-3 different weapons if you want to. Or you can take some of the more exotic weapons for a spin with practice in the hunting grounds and really see some great ways to break machines. The story made it nearly impossible for me to put this one down. When you start to figure out why the world is like this, it's amazing. I really hope someone does a serious movie or Netflix adaptation of the story. It's that good. Games this good don't come along very often. Seriously, they don't. You can play beginner mode just to see and experience everything, you can play on super hard mode + if you like the idea of pain and challenge. If you haven't played this and are still reading reviews, stop. This game is worth the investment, especially with the added content on the new version of the game. Speaking of which, guess where I'm off to next. Play this game!

The detail on the statue is fantastic. Great price for everything that comes in the package. About the game itself: Fantastic game! A true 10/10 experience. It is everything I expected it to be. It was as beautiful and inventive as The Witcher III, which was a 10/10, IMO, as well. The combat in Horizon is extremely rewarding. I love the fact that you could go full frontal assault, snipe, or stealth kill your foes without penalty to the flow of your gameplay. The graphics are outstanding. The story was excellently-written. The dialogue was even more amazingly written. There were so many subtleties that you could catch on the dialogue alone that would keep you right on the story; reminding you exactly what was done or said in a previous part of it. I'm not going to spoil anything here, but I was super stoked to see a very familiar face in film and TV show up as a very important character. Which, prompts me to say, the acting was also superb. And, going back to the graphics: boy did they take their time drawing-up and imagining every single little detail. Just like the subtleties in the story's dialogue, you could find these neat subtleties in the amount of detail that went in designing this world. Heck, I could go as far as saying that, even in the gameplay, these welcome subtleties could also be found. One example is in terms of the climbing mechanics. Everywhere you climbed (or descended), you had a minimum of two options on how to reach that top. It gave such a dynamic flow to the gameplay, that kept you wanting to go back on that awesome descend (or climb) after each mission. Just to experience it anew.

I am reviewing the game for the most part. The collectors edition is great, but you likely won't find it. Horizon Zero Dawn is truly amazing. I don't want to spoil too much but here is the basic premise. You play Aloy an outcast of a primitive tribe of Humans who live in the far, far future. Robot creatures inhabit the world and are among the coolest looking enemies I have ever had the pleasure of destroying in a video game. Aloy can use a wide array of primitive ( and not so primitive ) weapons on her journey to find out who she is and what is going on with the world as nothing is what it seems. The graphics are stellar, the story is amazing, the dialog is great, the character models and faces are among the best I have ever seen. the writing, action, quests, main story, combat, exploration everything is pretty much as good as what you have played or seen before or better. Many people poo poo'd this game for being just like Far Cry or just like Skyrim or just like The Witcher 3. well guess what, they are correct. Only how is this a bad thing? It has the amazing story and dialog and quest structure from TW3, it has the great open world and collect-a-thon aspects of Far Cry and Skyrim as well as crafting systems like Far Cry. Only Far Cry never had graphics, pacing, story or dialog like this. HZD simply put is the best exclusive PS4 title in existence. Just as The Last of Us was the best PS3 game, HZD is the best PS4 game. If you own a PS4 and want a true quality experience, get HZD

This is a great collector's edition featuring a very detailed and well done statue, art book, and steelbook. It arrived on the estimated delivery date in great condition. The game itself is fantastic and is a must play for all PS4 owners.

Great open-world game that is just the right size (not too big and not too small). Excellent combat which makes many fights challenging but manageable. Easily tops my game of the year right now. Extras include a beautiful statue of Aloy who has taken down a watcher. It feels and weighs enough that it does not feel cheaply made. It is very detailed and I am extremely happy with it. The steel book cover also looks very nice (better than the original cover). The art book is very similar to other art books you find packaged with games. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes open-world action RPGs. Great and interesting story with great voice acting (main quest only, as the side quest dialogue and voice acting can be fairly laughable but the main quest line makes up for it).
