Lets say I ran out of color ink, but still wanted to print documents using black ink ONLY (choosing the black and white option on my PC). Will the printer still print with just a black cartridge ONLY or does it require you to have all toners to operate?

What is the shelf life of the 414A cartridge if it is unopened ? I plan to buy one with a gift card now but will not need to install for over a year or more.. Thanks Snuffy

However, recommendation is to purchase toner within 1-2 years of use, and store away from humid conditions.
