Does the 64XL work on the HP 7855 ENVY? Is the only difference between the 64 and the 64XL is that the XL lasts longer? Want to be sure before I open package.

We just bought the HP Envy Photo 7855. We have just replaced the 64XL black cartridge for a second time in 6 weeks. We use this in our home and print approximately 10 pages per day. Why is this not giving us “high yield”? Very disappointed.
The HP 64XL and all cartridges yields are spec'd at ISO standard pages (5% page coverage). If you are printing high graphic content or photos you will get less pages than the yield state of 600 pages. You may wish to consider the HP Instant Ink print plans. If you are concerned about the cost of ink, I would recommend HP Instant Ink. HP Instant Ink is where you pay for the number of pages you print. Not the ink. The lowest plan is $2.99 for 50 pages. That includes ink and shipping.
will the 7155 print with the black ink cartridge only if the color ink cartridge is removed or empty?
Yes. You can use the HP Envy Photo 7155 All-In-One Printer in the single-cartridge mode. I would recommend using the setup cartridges first. Then, when the tricolor ink cartridge is empty or low, you would take that ink cartridge out. The printer will automatically go into the single-cartridge mode. Then, you can print with just the black ink cartridge if you wanted to. So, you don't have to replace the tricolor ink cartridge.
