Printer makes a start up noise frequently. Not sure if it’s calibrating or if it’s defected. I rarely use it so it is a bit concerning . Although the set up process is very easy. You will need a land line to use the fax feature as well and is aesthetically pleasing. Not what I expected with the noises, but I’ll use it for school and work sparingly anyway.

The HP Office Jet Pro 9125e printer has been frustrating. I have had print difficulties, set up problems, random errors, and pixelated / wavy scans. In my experience, the printer does not play nice with Samsung phones / tablets. Fast prints and double-sided scanning are nice, but the experience has been too temperamental and unreliable to comfortably recommend this printer. Setup: As said above, set up was … difficult. HP has you download the HP Smart application on your phone to guide you through the set-up process. It all seems very straightforward, until it randomly is not. The application gave me errors and then the printer would just be stuck with the message “the HP software is setting up your printer….” Eventually, I would either get a “a random error has occurred, if this keeps happening contact support.” I would then have to exit out of the app, turn off the printer, and start both up again. This happened two or three times during set up. Physically inserting the cartridges is not difficult, but after getting the printer up and running, I randomly get a message that the blue “C” cartridge is not communicating properly with the printer. So, I reset the cartridge, turn the printer off, and then pray. This was a recurring issue if I turned the printer off for any period of time and then turned it back on. These set-up difficulties may be due to my unique network and phone. That could be true, but that just helps make the setup feel needlessly complicated. I should not need to do more than plug the printer in to an outlet, turn it on, add the ink cartridges, and connect to the network. An app is just an extra complication for a device with a fairly impressive on-screen display. HP’s setup process feels more designed to help sell “Instant Ink” and “HP+” than it helps the end user. In thirty years, I have never had so much difficulty with a printer set up. Experience: I should say up front that I used HP printer paper and HP photo paper for my tests. I got this printer because I want to use it for print jobs related to an online shop. The prints are fast and look okay. Black prints look great, but colors seem a bit faded to my eye on normal prints. I am impressed by the print speed. But that speed comes with some costs as this printer shook every desk or table I put it on. The internal print head is moving back and forth very quickly, and you can feel it. I could never get the printer to work with my Samsung phone or tablet. I constantly got a “blocked error.” I tried troubleshooting this as some folks said it was a print spool error and I just needed a plugin. Others said to delete the HP plugin on my phone. None of it mattered for me as I could never get the printer to print from my Samsung phone or my Galaxy tablet. I was not impressed with my photo prints. I had random dots that would appear at creases or lines where one color met another color. I do not know what caused those dots, but it was specific to this printer. Photos had more of a red tint than I am used to, but that could just be a difference between the different printer manufacturers. Granted, this printer is advertised more as an office printer than a straight up photo printer, but I am wanting photographic prints for some projects and this result was subpar. Maybe there are settings I have not found that would fix this problem, but I can only shrug my shoulders at this time. Again, the process was more difficult than it should have been. It was definitely more difficult than I anticipated or expected based on past experiences. I went through the set-up ink quickly and decided to give HP Instant Ink a go. When I signed up, I was told it could take anywhere from 5 to 10 business days to receive the ink. I received my ink in five days. The printer is supposed to monitor your usage and reorder before your ink levels get critical. I cannot speak about that feature. If you are printing an exceptionally large print load, you could run out of ink quicker than the printer estimates. At that point, you could be stuck waiting for your next ink shipment. I could be biased, but I am not sold on another subscription service. I can see a benefit for a business that knows their output and can plan accordingly. But the idea of an overage cost if I unexpectedly have a lot of prints one month does not appeal to me. There is some rollover for unused prints. It is possible that this is financially the best option, but it does not feel right for me. I appreciate the feeder tray to scan in documents. Double-sided scanning is a nice feature for an office printer. Again, the scanning, like the printing, is fast. But scans were wavy and pixelated even on higher DPI settings. Conclusion: Do I recommend the printer? It depends on the user. I could see a user who does standard paper prints in an office environment thinking that this printer works well enough. Maybe set up works better for iPhone users. The printer is fast. Black ink looks good. In that environment without errors or frustrations, I think this could be a good printer. But my experience has not been great. I have had so many errors and problems with this model. Some of the error messages seem very random. Sometimes the printer or the computer will throw an error only for the printer to print anyways. The printer did not print from my phone. I do not know if it will ever print from Samsung devices. I had cartridge errors, poor scanning, and poor photo prints. I have some concerns about the capacity of the included ink cartridges. I am not sold on Instant Ink. The downside of yet another monthly subscription outweighs any convenience I might see. Plus, if it takes me 5 to 10 business days from the point where the printer decides to order another batch of ink, I might be forced to go out and purchase another set of ink anyway. The experience has been broken and frustrating. I really wanted to like this printer. But I just think this thing has been a mess. I have had many printers. This has been the most difficult printer for me bar none. The set-up, the error messages, the poor scans, and the print difficulties have exceeded my tolerance. I do not like leaving a negative review. For me, the pros of this particular printer have not outweighed the cons, and after more time and patience than I feel necessary, I cannot recommend the Office Jet Pro 9125e at this time. It may be good for someone else and there could be performance fixing firmware updates down the line, but as is, I cannot recommend this printer.

Hi RedScorpion,
Apologies for the bad experience.
We'll like to help. We'll suggest updating the Printer firmware to resolve printing on Samsung cell phone or Tablets as well overall reliability of the printer:
Update Printer Firmware (via Control Panel):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDzj0LkNIPY
After updating the firmware, use HP Smart app to setup and connect printer to the network.
Hope that helps!
Sincerely,
Teo

I've owned nothing but HP printers for the last 25 years and this may be the last one. My 9015 was easy to install, but the 9125 has been, and is a pain. Refused to be connected via wifi to my desktop, though the computer and modem are within three feet. Finally was able to connect with ethernet, and then had to deal with all the "serious error has been commited" messages, requiring continual repowering to clear. What happened to the old error free plug and play where you were up and running in minutes. Speaking of minutes, it takes this thing 48 seconds to start printing after you hit the print button. Tried all of the recommened resets to speed it up with no results. The ole 9015 started printing when you hit the print button. If it tells me one more time I have installed HP ink cartridges !?!? Will not let you connect the laptop via wifi as a second source. Had no problems setting up the scanner feature. Though others have reported difficulty. Based on other reviews and their problems, I think the purchase of a 9125 is hit or miss, and I would not do it again. Good luck with getting customer service!!

I really wanted to like this product. We had a great HP printer previously, but of course it is no longer available. This seemed like the best fit. I read the reviews prior to purchasing and read the comments about the slow spooling, print wait. Pros: Easy set up. Print quality is good, when it prints. Handled cardstock really well, which was important in purchasing this printer. Cons: The spooling time is over two minutes for each separate file you print. The size of the document does not seem to matter, unless it is large. It is just REALLY SLOW before it starts printing. The large document I have been attempting to print (96 pages) still will not print. It just spins on spooling and stops. Attempted to break it into smaller sections for printing and it still will not print. This was purchased for general office use. Nothing fancy or extensive. However, it may be the worst HP printer we have purchased to date. Over the years we have purchased 4 HP printers before this one. One would not handle cardstock so we had to purchase another one to accomodate that. If we could return it, we would. This is not going well and waiting 2 or more minutes between each print job . . . . To be specific, you pull up the doc to print, it will take at least a minute after you select the printer before it even allows you to hit print. After you hit print, it is a MINIMUM of 2 minutes before it will actually print. In the meantime, you have another document to print. You then again have to go through this same wait process. This is by far the worst printer I have ever used due to the wait time and inability to process a large document for printing. Purchase iT several months ago because we thought our other printer was about to die. Did not set this printer up until three days ago. It has been slow from the first print job. Three days in and already having printing problems. HP you can do better.

It does print and print quality is good. However, I believe this printer to be substandard. I have never had any other printer than an HP and they are truly going downhill. Last one I purchased was over 10 years ago and features and options much nicer. Problem 1: this does not have a cancel print option on the printer itself. Side note, I spent time two days ago chatting with HP support. They opened a ticket and within 2 days closed it even though they provided no help. How can you close a service ticket when you don't help?! Problem 2: There seems to be no way to reduce size of what you wanted printed so now I have to scan to my computer and shrink it and then print. Problem 3: The thing is loud, way too loud. Problem 4: The output tray is not tall enough and if you have printed too much, paper jam happens with double sided printing, ask me how I know. If I could return it, I would. Not sure what is going on with HP, but it is not good.

For the coat of the printer there is no usb port i can directly plug to my laptop and computer. It is rather ridiculous for the cost i have to use a hp app to scan documents to my phone to ONLY email to myself to have on my computer.

Printing is okay but you have to pay monthly subscription fees for printing

Wireless Printing seems to benefit HP, it's good for tech support and advertising for more support, instant ink, etc. For the end user of the printer, it can be a challenge locally. I miss the days when you could just create a port and print! Now, sometimes that approach works but not always. Also the issue of 2.4G/5G with this printer. if you connect to 5G, be ready for false positives and loss of internet. Printer is not bad for the price. I would only recommend to someone with more than basic computer skills.

This printer will do what it says, but it is the loudest printer I have ever heard. I do not recommend this printer. After 2 weeks of using it, I get a notification that setup wasn't complete. I had been using all options all that time and it just stopped suddenly. We use this printer for our small business and we cannot keep stopping to baby the printer each night. And to be fair, I had the series prior to this for 3 years and I loved it. I cannot believe the differences in them.

The printer worked well for a couple of weeks, and then gave a cartridge error on the screen. It appears to be flimsy in build quality, and feels like it will fall apart when setting up and accessing the ink cartridge area. The cartridge in question was replaced 3 times with a new one with the same error, and there was a grinding noise and burning smell when turning on the printer. After speaking with 6 different HP representatives, I was offered a refurbished printer, just weeks after the purchase. The scan function at least did work well, and offered options for internet transfer. I gave the ink subscription service a try, it seems like a scam as the automatic mailings arrive after the ink is gone and limit ability to print, thus lowering your "need" for ink. The "free trail" must be canceled 1 month Before the trial officially ends to avoid being charged. I have owned over 12 printers (most at a much lower price point), and have never noted such poor quality in build and warranty. Bestbuy is wise to offer only 14 days to return the item, though it appears that offering this model for sell in their store gives their brand a poor reputation. I would suggest buying this printer if you do not require reliability and feel that replacing it within a few weeks with a refurbished model constitutes a fair purchase.

It did a good job printing text on regular paper, but it jammed every time I tried to print an envelope. I returned it.

Prompting to send back. Print quality is terrible. Printed invitations and the ink smears and didn’t dry even after 12 hours. Print is not crisp and clear, has blur edge to it. Scanning to computer doesn’t work. Have to us a usb to scan too. Super noisy printing anything and printer shakes. Totally disappointed with this latest newly released in January.

This is my third HP office jet in 20 years. Great product. Had Best Buy install which made my life easy. Works faster than my old series. Takes up less room, too.

Flimsy construction, power switch sticks, stops printing before file is fully printed, no rear paper stop in tray, extremely noisy, small hard to read display. Doesn't compare to my previous HP 8600 pro.

Glitchy connectivity, noisy and slow. Worst HP printer I’ve ever purchased, and I’ve always only bought HP. I’m over the return period so now I’ll keep it as a spare.

I bought this as a replacement printer. This printer makes so much noise. I guess they don’t make them like they used to. Very cheaply made. I returned it. I went back to using my old printer.

Great printing - when it works. This keeps dropping the wireless connection and it's little more than an expensive paperweight. I'm currently looking for a better printer and I've only had this one for a year!

I was going to do a pros a cons list, but I cannot think of any helpful pros. My biggest pro is that it can hold a lot of paper at once. Cons: App is miserable. AirPrinting does not always work. Difficult to print if you cannot print via the app. Barely used, and I already had a difficult to remove paper jam. Print and scan speed are extremely slow. Ink consumption is aggressive even when using “draft” print quality. If you can get this for $150, it is fine. Otherwise, this tier is not worth it. I wish I would’ve spent the extra money and got a printer that scans and prints at a much faster speed. A Brother-branded printer would’ve been a better choice for me had I had enough time to experience all of the downsides with this HP all-in-one.

Very loud and difficult to use. I wouldn’t recommended.
