I was searching for a non bulky surge protector to protect my electronics and came across this one. They go on sale every month so dont huybat full price. They are a bit bigger then regular outlet so will require a bit of trimming of wall sonit can sit flush. I will slowly replace most outlets to this.

I bought four of these seem to be working good. Bought them to protect my washer dryer, refrigerator, water softener system, and rinnai hot water heater. The only thing I have found some plugs fight to plug in due to the tamper setup you have to wiggle the plug vigorously to get it to go in sometimes depending on the way the plug is made. At first I thought it was something with the outlet was bad so I tried one of the others in troubleshooting found it's the way the plugs are made some push in through the tamper others fight you. I do not like the tamper feature I will be trying to never buy outlets with that ever again.

I wish I had installed more of these when I bought a bunch last winter. After 11 pm on April 15, my neighbor's tree lost a branch, knocking down the service between our houses and caused a surge for a while that I could hear going "zzzzzzt" in my outlets. Next morning we had lost our refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and HVAC. My 3 TVs and the washer and dryer were all hooked up to these In-Wall Surge Protectors because of the limited space behind them. The surge protectors were all burned up but everything I had on a surge protector survived including my $1600 Sony XBR 65X900E that I just got last Black Friday. So glad I bought these, these were one of the first things I replaced and I now have them behind the fridge and dishwasher too.

Bought 2 of these during a Deal of the Day promotion & am satisfied. They offer decent protection and for the price paid, I consider them a good purchase. But, I would definitely have to think hard about paying full price for them, especially when you can get an external surge protector with better specs for the same or less. However, these are great to have in the wall behind something like a TV, when you can't, or don't want to fit a surge strip behind it. As noted by other reviewers, they do take up a lot of room in your electrical box.

Bought this guy to install behind a wall mount TV. Didn't want to have to use an external surge strip or plug in surge protector. Easy to install and seems to work like is should. Hope I never have to find out. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE 20 cu in ELECTRIC OUTLET BOX!! An 18 cu in box may work, but it would be tight. The surge protection outlet is pretty deep so before you install make sure you know what size outlet box its being installed into. I have a 20 cu in and it worked great!

I was always looking for a product such as this one. I wanted surge protection for my wall mounted TV, without a large footprint. This is larger than a standard outlet, and was a slightly tight fit, but it did fit. One never knows if a surge protector works as intended until you have a surge, but the green light lights up showing it's working. Purchased on a deal of the day, bought 3 for the price of 1 regular priced item.

Easy installation and fits with the existing mounting boxes. I ended up finding out one of my outlets was wired backwards because it was giving me a ground fault. Much neater and compact than those clumsy strips. Only way it could be better would be if it had a 15 and a 10 W usb port

I used these to replace two of my four outlets in my office. The other two were replaced with the Insignia outlet and USB connectors. Though they were mildly challenging to get in to the electrical box (due to the wiring being so stiff and it being fairly large), they are in the wall securely. Be aware that a standard electrical box will support this form factor; HOWEVER, the fit will be very tight. The connections are tamper resistant, which means you may need to put a little more force into plugging in your accessories, but everything stays secure. Overall, it is a great product!

This outlet was easy to install as a replacement for an existing receptacle. What a great concept to have a surge protector built right into the outlet so you don't have an additional bulky box taking up space behind your flat screen TV.

These work great! Glad I was able to upgrade my outlets with these. For the people complaining about not fixing into your junction box - you may need to do some manipulation. That shouldn't cause you to put in a lesser rating because your house/apartment was built a little differently. great product!

Works pretty much as advertised. I used this to replace my Decora plug that I had before. The good thing is that it comes with a face-plate which is nice since my previous switch was not a rectangle but with 2 holes. Also, this face-plate is a tad smaller than the default Decora so keep that in mind if.

I purchased three Insignia in-wall surge protectors, I am using two for appliances, refrigerator and small freezer and one for a garage door opener. They installed very easy and included the cover plate and are great for when you don’t have room for a full size surge protector. Insurance protection for a small price.

Very nice space saving design. I installed one in the cabinet behind the washer and dryer where space behind the appliances limited my options for a regular sized surge protector. Beautiful solution. It does take up all the room in the outlet box though. Had to really shove the wires into the rear to make it fit.

I installed this for my garage opener after a surge knocked out my opener. Easy installation and works great!

Great product for wall mounted TV'S. If you don't know most TV manufacturer's will void the warranty if your TV is not on a surge protector. My TV had gone out and luckily I had one of these wonderful surge outlets installed. Because when the technician showed up the first thing out of his mouth was that I didn't have it on surge protector which voids the warranty. So I smiled and told him that the outlet has a built in surge protector which was something he had yet to hear of. So just a heads up to all.

One of the best investment for the safety of the appliances. I used these in almost all locations where I have permanently plugged in appliances. Much easier to use as there no hanging wires or power strips any more. easy to install as well.

We found the Insignia Outlet Surge Protector very useful when you don't want to use power strips. We bought several and they offer safe, easy installation providing excellent protection for kitchen appliances as well as entertainment equipment.

Great item for when space is limited and you need surge protection. Really great for behind a wall hung tv. The best value is to get it when it's on sale.

I have bought even more of these as I believe in their saving powers. I am a believer after suffering a large loss due to a power surge last year. Wish I had installed more of these before the surge. We had lost our refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and HVAC. My 3 TVs and the washer and dryer were all hooked up to these In-Wall Surge Protectors because of the limited space behind them. The surge protectors were all burned up but everything I had on a surge protector survived including my $1600 Sony XBR 65X900E. I wanted these to protect TVs that are wall mounted. I had a surge due to a close lightening strike that blew out a TV and much more. The TV was only connected by electrical plug. So, I can recess this power surge protector and still use my wall mounted TV.
