When COVID-19 hit, it forced us, like many Americans, to work from home. My wife and I have “offices” in the basement, and upon our transition to the new normal, we spend 40 hours a week downstairs. My wife’s nose is a bit more sensitive than mine, and always shared what she thought about the mustiness. I had been researching dehumidifiers and planned to get something. When I saw BestBuy had this insignia model on sale, I jumped at it. What an incredible difference it has made downstairs. In just a week I’ve emptied the bucket 3 times downstairs and have completely changed the smell. It’s amazing what this thing has done. I bought two, one for upstairs and one for down. I’ve successfully lowered the humidity level in my house 5-10% which I know has made a huge difference on the feel. Now I’m closer to a 45% humidity level. It just feels more comfortable. I love that these units have a drain port on the back so you can connect a hose to it and it can run to your sump pump area. The noise is negligible. It’s very similar to the noise produced by a fan or perhaps a quiet dishwasher. If you’re considering buying one, go with this one. Setup is extremely quick - just be sure to remove all tape. The power cable organizer is inside the water bin. Plug it in to power and you’re set! To set it to the desired humidity level, make sure all button lights are off. When you first power it on, it may default to comfort or continuous mode. Press that button once to turn the led off above it. Then you can control the desired humidity levels with the Plus and Minus buttons.

I can’t believe how much water this machine extracts from my apartment. I almost got the Waykar because my friend had it so I tried it, but so glad I favor this one it’s much more effective. No complaints so far. Just note that if you want a drain hose you’d have to buy that separately. I have it in my apartment and I empty it morning and night because it’s so freaking humid here, was over 80% humidity now it’s down to 55% and so much easier to breathe + mold smell and mushiness gone and our energy levels are up. If you need serious water extraction, meaning gallons and gallons every day, I recommend it!! It’s not a small machine but the sound although quite loud is still pleasant pitch and the white color and design makes it blend in.

Works Great, definitely gets the job done. Not too loud, easy start up. Couldnt ask for more out of a dehumidifier. I think I'll buy 7 more!!!

I collected a lot of water in a short time. I've been using for bit more that 2 weeks and my apartment has no humidity issues.

The dehumidifier works great, but size and weight was above my expectation. The noise level is louder than my fridge, therefore I can’t run it when sleeping. Due to the size and weight, the cooling fins were bent/ damaged during shipping.

I picked up this 35 pt/day dehumidifier in mid-May 2023. I ran a set of 3 trial runs of 5 hr. each and measured an average output of 31.4 pt/day rate. This is fairly close to its rating, since my basement was not at the industry rating standard of 65 deg F and 60% RH. My conditions were 61 F dry bulb and 69% RH, measured with a Taylor Sling Psychrometer and converted to %RH on an ASHRAE Psychometric chart. The Wattage draw averaged 362 with the compressor running. A later test at 65F and 60%RH produced an output of 38.1 pt/day equivalent. So I can say that this dehumidifier has the ability to remove the moisture it is designed to. However, when I then set run at a 55%RH setting, it cycled at about a 10 +/- 2 minute frequency and only output at a 20.6 pt/day rate. The compressor would run 3-6 minutes, the fan stayed on another 3 min. and then it was totally OFF for only 2 min. I was surprised that the humidity display rose from 55% to 60% in that (Fan+OFF) 5 minutes. At the 60%RH level it restarted the cycle. I'm sure the space humidity did not change that fast (I used my psychrometer), the humidifier blows its discharge air into a different basement room than it draws from, and the coil was not icing up. I question where inside the dehumidifier they have located the humidity sensor, and if this location is contributing to what I would consider a short cycling condition that may reduce its actual dehumidification capacity to closer to one-half it's rated and proven potential.

I do like this dehumidifier. It gets a lot of water out of the air here in Texas. I am happy with my purchase and now I’m looking for an air purifier

I recently moved to Alabama and although the air conditioning in my place was sufficient I noticed the humid levels were still super high. I was worried about the potential for mold growth (I’m sensitive) and I figured I’d try a dehumidifier. My place is only 450 soft so I didn’t need something massive. This dehumidifier has been superb. It has a setting where it essentially constantly monitors the humidity and turns on and off when needed. It beeps to let you know the water container is full and it’s easy to pour into the sink. The weight doesn’t bother me. It not like I have to pick it up. It has wheels so it easily movable. It’s been working like a champ almost continuously for the past couple months straight and keeps the humidity around 50% vs 80%+ without it. You can also set a specific humidity level if you want. It can be a little on the noisy side. But I honestly don’t care and you get used to it and it’s no bother. Easy to set up. Best purchase I’ve made in a long time. I wish I got this think when I lived in Virginia the year prior.

This guy is working all the time! I never realized how much humidity is in the air! Easy to open and empty the water, which I do twice a day! Durable plastic housing. A good buy. I’m happy!

So far so good. One month of operation Keeping my basement dry

I don’t think there’s a better dehumidifier than this. This is my second unit, I purchased my first one 4 years ago. I use it in my home and RV. I don’t know how i would have survived the humidity in Florida in my RV without it.

So far so good. I’ve had about 2 months and have gotten some very humid weather in my area of Long Island, NY. For the size of my house, it works great keeping my basement dry. I followed the guidelines for the suggested square feet and it was a great price.

We live in Oregon and it can be a little damp around here. Fortunately we have never had any mold issues in our basement but it can feel a little damp down there during rainy season. It can also smell a little musty. Picked this unit up on sale and within a few hours the smell was completely zapped. The unit’s humidity reading was close to my hygrometer’s reading and appears accurate. Quickly reduced humidity from 52% down to 35%. Of course it’s currently dry season here so it may have to work a little harder during the rainy season - but we’re glad we got the unit. Even if you don’t have any moisture *problems* but you’re tired of the basement smell, this will shock you at how quickly it is remedied. My only complaint is the bucket is a little finicky to put it. It has these random tracks on the bottom and it took a couple of times struggling with it to figure out the trick. I really love Insignia products. We have Insignia TV’s, chest freezer, this dehumidifier, among others. You save by not paying for the brand name and get high quality products. Have never had an issue with any of our Insignia products.

I just purchased this for my basement due to high humidity. This machine really suck up the water well. It is easy to use and works well.

Within ONE hour this thing already had this much water! I’ve only had this thing an hour lol but so far it’s doing absolutely amazing. Better than I had expected. Wish the cord was a tad bit longer but that doesn’t take away from the quality or product. Also easy to use! Just plug it in and turn it on lol.

Perfect our home humidty stays 64 to 67. When i purchased this item it go down to 49 to 51. It is a very good deal and useful

This is super easy to set up, runs very quietly and removed the musty smell in my entire basement! I highly recommend it!

Excellent dehumidifier at a reasonable price. Easy to set up and maintain. Does a good job of keeping the humidity at the required level. I hope this appliance last a long time.

I have a 1700 square-foot unfinished basement with 50% of the area having concrete walls. The moisture and lack of air movement attracted mold and mildew, which pose the threat and damaging electronics and furniture. I purchased two of these units to help reduce the humidity. I ran a hose connecting from the back of the dehumidifier through the hole where my HVAC unit lines come in. Turn the power on, set it to comfort and by the next morning, the smell was gone. The humidity level was between 48 and 52%. I will cut one of the dehumidifiers off to see if 135 pint dehumidifier can keep the humidity level the same.
