This this is powerful and sucks a ton of water out of the air but doesn't come without its own flaws. The largest glaring issue is that Insignia, and Best Buy do not sell the corresponding hose needed to turn this into a continuous dehumidifier. That said I am emptying the bucket once a day until I find the correct hose specifications; a major annoyance in my opinion. Secondly, my device showed up with some damage on it. The power cord had minor slashes on it with one major gash that I have been concerned about. The tech support team with Insignia have not been helpful. I don't want to return my product, I just want it swapped out for one that doesn't have a cut on the cord; so far I'm getting nowhere.

Humidity in our home is very high causing a muggy odor at times in some rooms and takes the ac a while to cool so I've been pricing these out for a couple of weeks. When this 70 pint went on sale 2 weeks ago, I jumped on the opportunity to buy it as the sale made the 70 pint machine cheaper than 30 pints out there. I had it out of the box in 3 minutes and had the instruction booklet read in another 2-3. Very simple to use. Within an hour of running it in our living room, I had over a half gallon water collected. I just kept rolling it from room to room (it has wheels) and ran each room until I got the humidity to between 35-40%. I've only been using it for about a week now but so far I am loving this machine. It runs very quietly, has many settings for auto shut off at a certain% or continuous running. Shuts off automatically when bucket it full although I havent tested that yet as I shut it off before and don't run it all night. It works so quick that It's not necessary. This was a no-brainer purchase for me. I did purchase the extended warranty which is something that I don't do but since the machine was so inexpensive, I paid the extra few bucks to make sure that I am fully covered.

Pretty nice dehumid. Keeps a 20 X 15 basement room (no air circulation other than a portable fan) nice and dry. Have to enpty every 2 to 3 days. Auto shutoff works well. I like being able to set the humidity level on a digital read out. Seems to cycle a bit but I think this will be much more efficient than my 50 year old AMC which had a great tendency to freeze up. This has no such problems.

This dehumidifier has done a great job drying out my basement. The previous one (not this brand) lasted just over a year and never worked very well, I've only had this a few weeks but am very happy with it. Noise levels are reasonable, and before I hook a hose to it I've been letting the reservoir fill up so I can kind-of keep tabs on how much water it's taking out of the environment. I check it 3x a day and it's filling it as fast as I can drain it. Nice job... I also picked this up on a "deal of the day", so the price was right. Overall, a great deal I'm very happy with.

So far, this dehumidifier has worked very well. It pulls tons of moisture out of the air, needing to be emptied twice daily during the summer when used in our basement. The controls work well, it's fairly quiet, and it's still running well after one season of use. Of course, anyone who buys these things knows the real test is how long they last. We've generally needed to replace our units after 2 or 3 summers for one reason or another. Hoping this one goes longer. Some minor complaints: The bucket could be a bit easier to get back into the unit after being emptied. It usually gets stuck on the way back in and needs another try or 2. When it's set to a specific humidity, it usually only shuts off for about a minute before it kicks back on. This means that either the humidity sensor is too sensitive, or it needs some different programming. It would be nice to have a 5 minute span or so between shutting off and kicking on to bring the humidity back down. Otherwise, it seems like it should have never shut off in the first place. All the units I've ever had from all brands we've tried have this problem, so I'm not taking any points off for this minor issue. This review is based on my purchase price of $160 which was Deal of the Day pricing.

This dehumidifier works excellent! Does the job quickly for our large basement and it now feels perfect down there! I couldn't believe in just two days how much it improved the feel and it now only kicks on periodically to keep up with it. Also, doesn't hurt the electric bill, maybe added a few extra bucks a month which is super worth it to have a dry basement we can use now!! It's a fairly quiet noise that can be heard just well enough from upstairs to know when it's full. No complaints, happy customer!!!

Easy set up, quiet, efficient, and does the job. After using 1 day in our 1200 sq ft basement, the musty smell was gone. I would definitely recommend this dehumidifier for anyone looking to rid their space of dampness and odor.

Our 1950s home retains moisture so much that it makes breathing difficult, and our bath towels never dry, so they are wash wash them constantly which wastes water. For these reasons, we decided to try this dehumidifier near the bath and bedrooms. It works very well. We need to empty it twice a day when the alarm sounds. It's hard to believe that much water comes from the air in here, but it's definitely made a difference all around. The air quality is better and wet or damp items dry as they should. The controls are easy to use and it's easy to empty.

Has been working great in my basement for over one year. Easy to empty. Noise level is reasonable. No complaints.

Bought this dehumidifier about 1 month ago. Easy to setup and use. Ran hose to sump pump because it draws so much moisture from our basement we were emptying it 2-3 times a day now basement is at a consistent 47 humidity level and noticed a big difference. Would definitely recommend especially when it was so cheap as a deal of the day compared to other 70 pint dehumidifiers.

I bought this for my basement; it was filling the reservoir every other day so I hooked up a hose to the floor drain. I set the humidity level at 55 and calculated the running time based on the filter reset and it seems to be running about 75% of the time, and it added about $15 a month to my electric bill. Don't know how long it will last running that much, but we only have about 5-6 months a year with high humidity in MI.

My old Kenmore died after 19 years of continuous service. Unfortunately, it seems the new Kenmore (which most likely was rebranded from Whirlpool or Frigidaire) are not as reliable as they used to according to many online reviews. Well I was in luck. I just happened to browse through Best Buy's Deal of the Day and came across this unit and I also found out my son had purchased the same unit a while back and he highly recommended it. I am very happy with the purchase, the unit is much quieter than the old Kenmore, of course with almost 20 years apart, they must make some improvements somewhere. :-) The unit does not give out as much heat as the old one, so I guess it probably uses less energy. I'll verify that later for sure. I installed the unit in the basement with a draining hose going directly to the sump pump. I hope I'll never need to look at it for another 20 years! ;-)

At 70 pints it is a unit that can take in a lot of moisture. There are several settings that enable you to control how hard it works and at a low humidity setting it makes a noticeable different in the moisture in the air of our basement. The only negative comment I have is there is no real spout for pouring the accumulated water out so it tends to spill out. It does provide for a direct hose connection if you want to run it directly to a sump pump.

It was easy to set up. Works well Removes a lot of moisture from the air. Noise level very acceptable.

We let this run during the day in our very large bedroom suite and it normally fills up twice, thereby removing a lot of humidity. We live in Georgia where the humidity is very high and this dehumidifier is just what we needed. Buying it from Best Buy was also a good move. I ordered it online and within a few hours I was able to go and pick it up without a hassle.

Bought this dehumidifier for my basement after my last one began leaking and there was a sale on this model. It was twice the size of my last one, but I bought it since I figured that it would require less emptying. I was right, it keeps the basement dry and the musty spells out. Works well and was a great buy!

Compared to other dehumidifiers I have used in the past I found this one to be comparatively quiet, and it does a great job of removing moisture from the air. It is so efficient I have to empty the bucket after approximately twelve hours. For that reason I wish it has a larger capacity bucket.

Great price, only had a month, doing everything good.Would have liked a front air discharge, had air hitting wall and bouncing back and would fool the humidistate and shut it off,had to relocate the unit so it had a straight shot where the air came out.Have it hooked up to a garden hose to sump drain.Shuts off when it reaches humidity level-nice

Our house has window air conditioners. The indoor humidity was 75%. After setting the Insignia dehumidifier to 50% it is much more comfortable in the house. I empty the bin twice a day. The window a/c units don't have to work as hard now. I have been able to turn down the fan speeds on them. I wish I would have bought one years ago! I have not owned it long enough to report on it's reliability but I'm not worried because I bought 4 years of Geek Squad warranty.

I did a lot of research before buying this dehumidifier. I found this worked the best for my use. I also liked it because if there are any problems in the next 4 years, I have Best Buys warranty and can take it to my local store. I think Insignia makes good products. I really like the timer off option. I can set the humidity level, the fan and compressor will cycle on and off as needed, then unit will shut off at the end of the time I selected. Seems very accurate with humidity readings on the display. It does a great job.
