The box itself was cracked and broken but luckily the disc was untouched, I can only assume in transit it was tossed around

This game is phenomenal. One of the best co-op games I have ever played. The story is well written, the voice actors are great, the gameplay/controls are easy to pick up (my 4-year-old easily plays), and the creativity of puzzles and general gameplay is so well thought out. As you progress through the game your characters get different "tools" that are used during that part of the story and they are creatively integrated into the gameplay. It just makes the game so much fun with enough variety to fully enjoy from start to finish. My wife saw my son and I playing and she asked to play it through with me. As I am starting to replay the game, though I know how to complete the puzzles, I am still finding it enjoyable. In fact, it is still fun enough that I will be playing through a third time with a buddy. Very happy with my purchase and I highly recommend it

An absolute blast! This game combines fantastic gameplay, stunning graphics, and a great storyline that keeps you hooked from start to finish. Whether you’re into epic battles, mind-bending puzzles, or just exploring beautiful landscapes, this game has it all. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good time and some serious fun.

It Takes Two is a fun game to play with someone (in my case, my girlfriend), as it has very creative levels with fun mechanics that require working together to complete. Unfortunately, I have a lot of complaints about the game's story (which I think is incredibly badly written), but aside from that notable flaw, I can recommend it based on the gameplay alone.

Embark on the craziest journey of your life in it takes two, a genre-bending platform adventure created purely for co-op. Invite a friend to join for free with friend's Pass and work together across a huge variety of gleefully disruptive gameplay challenges. Play as the clashing couple cody and may, two humans turned into dolls by a magic Spell. Together, trapped in a fantastical world where the unpredictable hides around every corner, they are reluctantly challenged with saving their fractured relationship. Master unique and connected character abilities in every new level. Help each other across an abundance of unexpected obstacles and laugh-out-loud moments. Kick gangster squirrels' Furry Tails, pilot a pair of underpants, DJ a buzzing night Club, and bob sleigh through a magical snow globe. Embrace a heartfelt and hilarious story, where narrative and gameplay are interwoven in a uniquely metaphorical experience. It takes two is developed by the award-winning studio hazelight, the industry-leader of cooperative play. They are about to take you on a wild and wondrous ride where only one thing is for certain: we're better together.

This game was so fun, it was the perfect little gem in what is a dearth of local co-op games being available for the PS4 generation. It has so much bantering and joking. I was worried hearing about the initial plot being a spoiler, but it happens within the first five minutes of the game (the two parents are getting a divorce). The gameplay is great with different levels/worlds offering something new. Some of them felt a bit smaller compared to other levels, especially toward the end, but every part of the journey was magnificent. I'd also like to add that this game was also fun for my SO who is normally is bad at games. She did okay-ish in Little Big Planet and didn't like Borderlands nor racing games. This one we found as a good one. The game isn't too long, but the price is perfect for it. And if you're in a LDR or just want to play it with someone else online, this is great because only one person needs to own a copy. Your friend can join your online session without needing to buy a copy. This game is seriously fantastic!

Oh my gosh! This game is so much fun. My boyfriend and I are having so much fun together figuring out the challenges so that we continue to the next puzzle. I say puzzle, he says challenge! But we work together and figure it out together.

I typically do goofy reviews, but I can’t say enough great things about this game. I’m currently on my second play through. To make a long story short; I planned on getting this to play with my wife (currently running through it with her now). My dad just recently got back into gaming and was very interested in playing this. I asked who he was going to play it with and he didn’t understand initially that it wasn’t just a clever name; it literally takes two people to play this game. Lol. So my wife being the wonderful lady that she is told me to play with my dad first, and it has been an extremely enjoyable experience both times playing through it. I’ll start with the only negative; the story is kind of lackluster. This is thanks to two reasons actually; the characters and the voice acting. It’s not terrible; I don’t want to give the wrong idea here. Look at it like this; it’s like if Pixar made a game, but instead of Pixar writing the story (who generally do fairly well with storytelling), they hire Tommy Wiseau to write the dialogue and key plot points. Maybe that’s not the best example, but you get what I’m saying? It’s executed so well that you are able to look past whiny characters and just enjoy the game. There are a lot of genius ideas in this game and it deserves to be played by everyone. I enjoyed “A Way Out” and have played through that several times. This is one-hundred times better than that game. There’s literally something for everyone in it. Platforming is intergraded into the main game, but there are new powers and mechanics used in every level and it doesn’t just rinse and repeat through the whole thing. If it had better voice acting/characters, it’s be a solid 10/10, but because of this, I’d only knock it down half a point. Keep in mind the game retails at $40, so honestly, you shouldn’t expect top notch AAA acting anyway. They get the job done. Lol. It’s a 9.5 out of 10 easy. Seriously. Play this. Enjoy the time you get to spend with a friend or a family member. It’ll be a great memory. :)

I grew up playing couch co-ops with my friends and brother. It is hard to find those action adventure games to play with someone locally these days. I’ve been playing with my wife as one character and with my brother as the other character. Both have unique abilities and give you a different experience. Each level is new and an enjoyment to look around at the level of detail. I want to keep playing this game, but don’t want it to end. I’m very picky on what games and this one is amongst my top all time favorites.

My teenage kids and I are playing this and really loving it. Incredible creative with so many different ideas around how two players can collaborate in a video game. The story is also moving, and touches on psychological aspects of familial relationships with sensitivity and taste. The gameplay doesn't have the polish of Nintendo, but the graphics more than make up for it. I don't think this game could be ported to Switch without losing significant detail - note that I am playing on a PS5. Definitely worthy of the GOTY accolades it has been getting!

My fiance and I LOVED this game. It's a ton of fun. Challenging, yet able to accomplish it without too much trouble. We highly recommend this as a fun game for couples or friends to play together.

I've always loved couch co-op games and it's sad that they aren't made as much anymore. So when a couch co-op game gets released, I have to buy it to support them. I purchased A Way Out when it came out from this same developer in the past and that was a well-thought-out game. So, when I heard that they were coming out with another couch co-op game I had to jump on it. My wife and I both played through A Way Out together, so it only made sense that we played through It takes Two together. I believe that's what made this experience playing through it takes two so great. The story of it takes two is about a married couple trying to rekindle their love for one another as they traverse around their home as dolls. The story was amazing and there are a bunch of fun little mini-games scattered throughout the game. The only real negative I have about this game (same with A Way Out), is there is really much re-playability unless you want to experience the same story again. They do have the mini-games that you unlock and can access from the main menu, but I can't see putting too many hours in those. Overall this game is great if you love couch co-op games and I will continue to purchase to encourage these games. The story was great to experience, especially with your significant other. There isn't a lot of replay value, but the story does take a while to get through. It's worth the price at $40 and anything less is a super bargin.

This has everything and then some. A charming story, great characters fun and functional mechanics. It feels like your playing a really well written animated film. It's awesome. Finally the perfect game for couples, I sit down at least 3-4 times a week to play it with my wife. It has really good gameplay and very varied your never doing the same thing. I definitely hope somehow there is a sequel or similar game by the developers in the near future.

The perfect game for couples even if one is not a gamer. My wife is not too big on games - she’ll play Mario Kart and similar games, but never a non-casual or story-based one. This game was the exception. It’s difficult enough to stay interesting while easy enough to keep a casual gamer in. The levels are highly imaginative and gameplay is smooth. Add a sinple yet interesting story on top, and you get one of the best co-op games to date.

Very fun game & very weird (in a positive way). There aren't many couch co-op games around for PS5, but I'm glad this is one of them!

This is one of the best games of 2021. You can play the entire story in split screen couch co-op or online with another person. Story games should be enjoyed together. This story deals with the family crisis of divorce and the game play has an incredible amount of variety. There are platforming, racing, shooter, snowboarding and even dogfighting elements throughout the game. CHECK THIS ONE OUT!
