The unit would frequently lose its the connection. requiring that the USB connection is disconnected then is reconnected. I did not have this issue with other devices.

I had a USB 3.0 Passport Drive attached to my laptop through this thing and the drive would routinely time out if I tried to copy big files to/from it. Anything over 100MB in size.

and nothing liks this adapter. It was expensive, doesn't make that much of a difference, and compatibility issues have outweighed the benefits.

It works with windows 8.1 but does not with widows 10, even after download the "update" driver.

And Ethernet is the biggest reason I bought this. Every time I use it, I have to plug and unplug the ethernet cable in order to gain internet access. Often takes 5+ tries, waiting between each to see if I got connected. Then once I finally do get access, it'll work for awhile and then randomly disconnect me without warning....I often resort to (slower) Wi-Fi just to avoid interruptions. Needless to say both problems I've described are very frustrating. I downloaded and installed the driver correctly and closely followed the J5Create step-by-step installation instructions. Even uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, but immediately started having the same problems. At least all three USB ports continue to work
