Speaker sounds amazing. It really shines on the low end. Adequately loud for its size. The one problem is that it quit working after a week and I’ve seen multiple reviews saying the same thing. It won’t even turn on unless it’s plugged in and even then I get no sound. I was able to warranty it though so hopefully the replacement will actually last. It’s too expensive to be messing up like this.

Purchased this item with the insurance for over $500. Being a JBL and having owned multiple in the past, I went with a bigger investment like this one thinking I would get amazing sound. This was not the case. The sound quality is okay. It’s really just a speaker, there’s nothing fancy about the sound. There’s NO bass whatsoever. Anyone would think since it’s such a huge speaker, and JBL is owned by Harmon Kardon that there would be a decent amount of bass, but the bass is below subpar, below decent. Even with the bass all the way up on the JBL app, I could not get anything out of it. The speaker gets loud, real loud, but that’s all it’s good for. A speaker like this with the type of sound quality it produces is suitable for casual family get togethers, small events, or even to have in home while cleaning, moving things around, etc. I would not recommend this product. It’s far too costly for what it produces. It seems they put all their efforts into the majorly costly Boombox 2, but who has enough to go with that? It’s so huge and bulky, but even that can lack bass. JBL has disappointed me. I returned without looking back.

This is an odd one. So when this speaker is indoors it sounds pretty good - to great but as soon as you take it outside, it all falls apart. The bass is Very low and it just sounds almost tinny. I’ve tried it In the same place all my other Bluetooth speakers play (including a Flip 5) which is on a patio under the 2nd story deck, it’s a great place for bass. But it just doesn’t sound good. When I put my Flip 5 there it sounds great (for its size). I’ve used various EQ settings, including Loudness but I just can’t get the bass out of it. BTW these tests are performed at mid volume. I have no doubt it would put bass at full volume but I have neighbors so I try to only crank it full blast a couple hours a day (just kidding). This might be a return if I can’t get what I want out of it.

First things first I’m a huge fan of JBL. Normally their products are phenomenal, I’m not sure if mine just came defective or if they’re all like this, but my JBL speaker has had a lot of issues keeping a charge and the Bluetooth connection is quite troublesome. I can’t turn my back towards the speaker and not have connection issues to the point that the Bluetooth disconnects. The sound is amazing, but if it wasn’t for those issues I’d probably would keep the speaker.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding our JBL Xtreme 3. We understand that its loudness didn't meet your expectations compared to JBL Flip speakers. We recommend doing a factory reset. With the speaker ON, press and hold the VOL+ and Pause/Play buttons for 5-6 seconds. The Xtreme shuts down and is now reset. You will need to 'forget' the speaker in Bluetooth settings on your phone/tablet in order to pair it again. Not very impressed with this. The bass on the extreme 2 is better you can tell right off the bat turning the extreme 2 vs 3 on. I’m a bass kinda guy so I am returning it and getting the extreme 2 from Walmart for 260.00 paying over 400 dollars for this and the protection plan for this simply isn’t worth it and I think the extreme 2 has a better chance if it falls in the water. It’s extremely hard to open the charging port vs the 3 so I’m assume the water resistance is better. Sometimes newest isn’t always better then the last version idk if they are using cheaper quality parts but I can def hear the sound difference. I prefer the extreme 2 for 260.00 then this crap.

The Xtreme 3 is high quality and the sound is great, however it will not pair with JBL BoomBox 1, so make sure you know before you buy. I am returning and purchasing the Xtreme 2 because they are saying that will work with the original Boombox. The Xtreme 3 will only connect with the Boombox 2.

Sounds great but the main issue is the battery only last about 4-5 hours on a full charge.

got told it was loud but it wasn’t really what i expect … too quiet! also not even been a year and it’s broken, looks fine but it just stopped working randomly speakers sound so choppy and cut off

Bought this speaker use in Best Buy and soon as in go to my house I tried to charge the speaker can it wouldn’t work so I have to go again to Best Buy for another one.

spotty blue tooth strength. wont stay connected to my iphone, MAC, or my samsung. battery life is also an issue. battery stays charged for 1 hour or less and dies without warning.

Please note that blockages like walls and other wireless signals can cause interference which can interfere with the connection also. JBL doesn't have an app with an equalizer like Sony does. Sound quality is decent but not adjustable. Their app only allows to add more speakers.
