This is the Jlab Epic Work ANC Headset, a comfortable, everyday-use headset with great sound and features. While many of us are returning to the office, our work method has stayed the same for the last 4 years. We still use teams and Zoom to get work done, but now we’re in the office with other people around the corner in their cubes. A headset is a must in this environment. I’ve been using the JLab Go Work in the office for this situation, and it works fine for a cheaper device and has served me well for the past 2+ years. The dual microphone setup on the JLab Go Work keeps coworkers isolated from my meeting conversations. So, I had high expectations for this new JLab Epic Work ANC wireless headset. I wanted to love this headset. On one hand, it is very well made, and when it works, it has excellent audio that rivals many expensive headsets like the Polycom Voyager 4300 series that I use at home. On the other hand, the hardware & sound quality is amazing, but the software implementation or bugs are a bit of a letdown. Headset use is primarily with desktops and laptops. When I first received it, I charged the headset and tried pairing it via the USB-C dongle directly connected to the computer. My laptop (running Windows 11) would beep on inserting the USB-C dongle, and there would be no connection. The same situation occurred on the desktop. I then paired it via bluetooth on the PC, which worked for a fleeting moment before the constant repeating disconnection and reconnection. Looking for a firmware update, I managed to pair the headset to my Android cellphone. I had noted that when I turned on the device initially, my phone was trying to “quick pair” (prompt to pair the JLab headset), but it wouldn't pair. I had to manually pair the device, upon which I downloaded the JLAB app and noted that the firmware update was available. The instructions for the JLab firmware update didn't work, and it took multiple tries before the headset was updated to 5.0.2 from 4.1.3. Once the firmware update was successful, the pairing issues got better, but it wasn't gone, and it still wouldn't pair to the phone properly. Testing included multiple devices, including apple iPads, iPhones, and my office laptop. I found this headset with a PC (desktop or laptop); if one uses the base station and the dongle is attached via USB-C to the base, the audio works perfectly fine on a computer. In fact, it works as it should. It makes no sense that it works with the dongle plugged into the base station with the USB-C cable but not plugged into the computer directly. When using the dongle on a PC, the audio quality is AMAZING! I did not want to stop listening to music or remove the headset. The headset's comfort is far superior to the JLab Go Work and rivals other units I use. My meeting audio was clear, and the sound isolation on the microphone and headset was very, very good. I was impressed! The bluetooth audio (if you can get it to pair on a phone and PC) is so-so. It's a stark contrast to the audio provided through the dongle. I would use the base station with the dongle any day as that audio is fantastic. There are some bugs, and JLab needs to fix them, especially with the pairing process on the dongle with the PC, and the bluetooth pairing. I could not get that dongle to work on multiple Windows PCs by plugging it in directly, and Bluetooth pairing is a bit finicky at best- where it pairs, identifies the power level, and then unpairs itself. The only way I would recommend using this headset in its current state is with the base station and dongle. It's a fantastic headset, and that's the only way I will use it going forward.

I don't know why Jlab loves to give us these headphones that just feel like they are built for tiny heads. The Epic Work ANC headphones are no exception either. Fortunately, I've got a small enough cranium that I feel comfortable enough to wear these for a while. I do hve to take them off after about 30 minutes of use. So wizely enough, I tend to just take them off after each call and place them on there charging cradle. Okay. Let's talk about that. I really like the cradle, but.. Let me just start off by tell you what's inside the box. The Epic Work ANC wireless headset is a dual speaker PC headset. With a nice braided cable to connect t the charging cradle( Try and keep up) that houses the dongle in a secrret compartment on the side. But that will be it. So once you unbox them, you'll be keeping these in the office, because there's really no safe way to transport them when they aren't on your skull. Placing them on that cool cradle is done by laying them on their side( where the connection prongs are). Charging is easy enough, but my other problem is the fact that they don't collapse. This means the headphones have to sit in a awkward leaning possition while charging. I am fond of the flip up mute system on the boomm mic. Sound quality is pretty much what I have come to expect from JLab. Not amazing, but they get the job done. There were a couple times where I felt like I needed to hod my hand over the cup to get better sound, but that may have been from the person on the other end. Just as the box says, you've got multiple ways to connect and use them, but none of that matters if the end result is lackluster. Fortunately, these are better than usual JLap experiences. So I find these very useful in my office.

While these do technically work, they are extremely muffled and getting them to connect reliably is an issue. I wish I had tried out a few other headsets before buying these

Good product, I use it for work. The calls are pretty clear. The company needs to work on the mute feature, it almost caused me a problem. I have to turn on and off to mute at times.

[Employee of bestbuy] Love the convenience of no wires. My daughter likes being able to step away from her desk and still be available for calls.

I had such high hopes with this, and it failed to live up to my expectations. I was moving from a Jabra 65UC that was so used and abused over the past 4 years that it had started falling apart. This seemed like a newer, and at least from the looks a more comfortable headset, so I took the plunge. Lets start with the positives - the build quality is good, the range with the dongle seems great as well. I can walk all over my house and even walk around outside upto 20-25 feet with clear audio. But if within that distance I have multiple walls in between then the audio does become choppy. Overall though really happy with the range. I also love the easy flip up to mute functionality, I tested it multiple times, cause I just couldn't trust that I was actually muted. The mic's great too - it really hones in on your voice and completely filters out any other background noise. Again I tested this by talking and loudly clapping just a foot away from the mic on the other side, and it did not register any of the clapping sound at all. As to the battery life, for the 1st days of continuous use, easily 5-6 hrs per day, I didn't have to charge it once. Although I love the included charging dock, it is so convenient to just throw it on there at the end of the day. So, if you are wondering if all of these things are good, why did it not live up to expectations? Well I am in calls almost the whole day, and this just gets really really uncomfortable to wear for prolonged periods of time. What I saw initially as good build quality, turns into heft for even more than 30-40 mins of continuously wearing this. My ears become hot and because the ear pads are pretty big, they kind of block all ventilation to them. Within 2 days of using these continuously, I had to give up, too tight on the head, too heavy and traps heat (and this is in winter) The comfort was so bad, that I bit the bullet and bought 3rd party ear cushions for my old Jabra and stuck them on and am using it again, in its battered state.

At work, I need to have a reliable set of headphones that will work consistently every single time. I was disappointed that this headset did not provide that to me. Setup The Bluetooth would not connect until I removed all of my Bluetooth devices from my laptop. If you run into issues connecting it to your computer, that is the troubleshooting involved. Remove all your Bluetooth devices. It worked, but it was cumbersome and annoying. Upon my first attempt to connect the headset, I discovered I needed to remove devices. I didn't have time to do that on a busy work day so I removed the device and assumed everything else would work as it normally does until I had time to invest in setting the device. That was not the case. It disrupted all of my Bluetooth devices. I spent the day room-hopping in the office so I could use my laptop speaker because my primary Bluetooth headset would no longer connect and remain connected. I had to go through and remove all Bluetooth devices before my original devices would work again after re-installing. Of course, I then had to do that again when I finally had a chance to suffer through installing the JLab Epic Work headset. Connect The USB connection for the base is USB-C so be sure that your laptop has at least 1 of that type of port. This is a challenge for me because the device I use to connect my other screens uses that Single USB-C port. As a result, I can't connect the USB device or the base directly to my laptop for my use. Instead, I have to use a plug to connect the base for power to charge. I am not sure why, but the base cannot be plugged into an outlet while I am using the headset on Bluetooth alone. Every time I do, the headset is disconnected from my laptop and I am unable to reconnect the headset until I unplug the base. Bluetooth From my experience, this has been unreliable as mentioned above with the connection. It was a struggle to get the device set up on Bluetooth alone and it did not work consistently. Controls The controls are pretty standard but worked fine. Audio Quality The headset itself works well. The quality of the audio and voice quality on the headset are good. I was also happy with the noise-canceling feature as I could focus despite the noise going on around me. If you plan to connect the headset and have the ports available to you to do that, this product might work fine for you. For me, I expect headsets today to effortlessly connect to my laptop without many steps to get myself connected every time I go to use the device. I work both remotely and in an office, so I need the flexibility to plug/un-plug and move my devices so this product just didn't offer me a great experience. Overall, I would not recommend the product. When it comes to headsets, especially for work, I need it to be super easy. I do not have time to fight with a headset or learn all of its little idiosyncrasies to use it successfully. Being late to meetings and dropping audio while I'm hosting meetings just isn't acceptable and with this device, I don't have confidence that it won't continue to prove challenging when I switch locations.

I have owned a hand J labs Virtual meeting/work focused headsets since the beginning of the pandemic. I really liked that this one came with its own weighted charging base so that immediately after you take the headphones off and set them down, they began charging This set up actually works really well One unfortunate thing about This headset is that you cannot switch which side the microphone is on so be prepared to use it in one specific set up. My previous J labs headsets had the ability to switch directions Also, in what feels like another feature retraction where the mute button has been in the past on JL’s headsets, this one has a multifunction button instead Also, there is no red light at the end of the boom, indicating when you were on mute and when you are not The active noise canceling actually works really well, which is a pleasant surprise at this price point battery life is quite good and slightly exceeded what was advertised on the box. It took me a second to figure out how to use the included USB-C dongle because there is a storage port for the dongle, and there is an in use port for the dongle both on the sides of the charging base. I accidentally docked the dongle in the in use port and then plugged the cable for the charging base into my computer and then struggled for the next 15 minutes in an attempt to pair the headphones via Bluetooth it was only once I unplugged the USB-C dongle from the new Support on the charging base that I was able to get them connected to my laptop. Overall, these are well-made and have good sound just a number of quirks that knock them down from five stars.

Set overview: The size of the headphones a little small. I expected them to be a bit larger. For a young adult these would be comfortable but for an adult male with a large head, not the most comfortable Headset. Quality feels substantial and feels very durable. Just due to them feeling fairly tight on my head it was a bit of a let down. Quality of sound: For phone calls, zoom calls, etc., the sound is acceptable. For music not as much. Clarity for both mic and headset was good. Connectivity was a little strange. I watched the video from Jlabs about these specific headphones to figure out where to place the USB cover for the USB-C Cable to charge, etc. Once I watched the video, I could then get sound and use the headset. I tried this with a mac and a Windows 11 PC, but found the headset would disconnect and I had turned off all other bluetooth devices and still had connectivtiy issues. I reached for another headset and turned them on and those connected to my Windows 11 and my Mac without fail. I was hoping for a seamless experience and with little effort or having to open a support call to JLab. I have used other products without fail from this manufacturer. Wish this was better and more comfortable.
